    These are a bit pricey. After buying and returning 4 other timer, we decided to just suck it up and buy one. We bought the 4 zone timer. The outlets setup 2 to my garden raised beds, 1 for my seedling greenhouse, 1 to my front yard and I’m getting a single for the other side of the front yard. I added a quick connects with shut off valves to each outlet . I love being able to control watering instead of it controlling me. It was very easy for my daughter to setup.

    Thank you for your great reviews on your channel!! I was wondering what the difference is between the box you showed in this video and the more streamlined hose faucet box that orbit makes? I noticed on your flood sensor review that your app showed you had the streamlined-looking hose faucet boxes. Do you like this hose faucet box better than the others? I'm trying to decide between the two types and am not sure of the differences. Thanks!!

      Hi Cathy, are you talking about the Bhyve XR? The XD attaches to your hose bib, the XR is a sprinkler system controller that controls in ground valves. If I'm mistaken, just let me know the timestamp on the video so I can see what you are asking about.

    Great video! How does the smart features know how long to water each zone for? Is there an area where you can specify, for example, "Zone 1 needs 60 minutes runtime to output 0.5inches of water"?

      thank you. you tell the program about the type of soil and slope plus sun and so forth. plus what type of irrigation devices like drip or spray. then you tell it what zones to water and for how long. turning on smart watering then calculates how much water is in the soil and adjusts accordingly. you also tell it where the nearest weather station is and it uses that data to get closer to what is needed. in the end it’s a bit of its smarts and your guess as to how long.

      @Appmyhome ah! That makes sense. Thank you! Are you still using these devices today?

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  Рік тому

      yes we have two XDs and one XR. the XR is their irrigation controller, supports 8 or 16 zones.

    Would you suggest I run this inline with pvc sprinkler lines after the original valve left open. Or do you think it’d be too much consistent pressure or not hold up in durability?

      B-hyve has good support and would be a better source to answer your question.

    This device is being offered and installed by some providers in Canada where temperatures much below 0. I am wondering if there is any way to protect this device when it is -30 Celcius outside in winter?

      no kidding. would seem if you have those temps freezing an XD would be least of your problems. hope you have inside shutoffs on those faucets.

    Thank you for the video, just wanted to ask how does the watering unit connect to the hub, I actually did the same approach, I talked the hub first then the water irrigation system (i have the 4 one) but how do i know that it is now connected via Wi-Fi not blue tooth.

    • @Appmyhome

      Look on the top left of the app. you will see either a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth symbol. Click it and you should be able to change it to either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. (switching from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi is actually stated as disconnect Bluetooth, don't blame me for that confusion, LOL) but in any case that's the way I know. So from this my assumption is that if it says Wi-Fi you aren't communicating to the XD via Bluetooth, though the Hub is.
      The other way to tell is to get a distance away from the XD, ie out of bluetooth range and see if you can still control it.

    Let's say your wifi goes down for whatever reason and you can't communicate with the timer using the app - can you manually start watering (water now) from the control panel on the valve control box (timer) ?

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  2 роки тому +2

      if the wifi is down, or the bluetooth, the device will remember the schedule. if you want to run it manually you can do that anytime from the controls on the unit.

    I just installed a XD 4 port timer. Bluetooth FW updates don't seem to work, and my legacy B-hyve Wifi hub does not connect to it. Ordered a separate Gen 2 hub to see if anything changes.

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  Рік тому

      the gen 2 should get you going. the gen 1 hubs don’t work with the XD.

    I installed this but I’m getting very poor pressure. I connect b have directly to the water tap. Do I need a connector?

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  Рік тому

      Our XDs have good pressure. There is only a mesh filter in there so I wouldn't expect a reduction. We also put a back flow preventer out the outputs and they seem to have no effect. Likely best to call B-Hyve, there service department is really good - you get to talk to a human.

  • @CrazyKitty428

    Your hose bib has a back flow preventer? I've heard this can mess with timers because they are meant to be under pressure. Do you know if that is true?

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  2 роки тому

      Haven't seen an issue as you describe. Only issue we have seen is the preventer sticks out and hits the filter screen. We solved that by adding an extension.

      You have to contact Bhyve and ask them to switch the account for that device. They can be reached here. support.orbitonline.com/lang/en_us/

    Hi is the XD version wifi hub backwards compatible with the 21005 smart hose timer ? Thanks

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  2 роки тому

      According to the Bhyve site, the Gen 2 "This hub works with Device Model Numbers 24511, 24516, 24632, 24537, 24634, 54539, 71000, 71003, and 71005." We have both Hub types in our house and the 21005 and other equipment like the XD and they seem to work well together. At least they allow for a larger coverage area for bluetooth. Best bet would be to talk to their customer service to be sure.

    The wifi use is a joke. I bought the 4-outlet unit and it works great. But I wanted to control it via wifi, so I bought the hub. The hub was easy to set up. But it will not connect with the Orvbiot XD 4-outlet unit via my ANDROID phone. After a lot of searching, I found a UA-cam video that explains it. The wifi function only works with an iPhone! The hub is going back!

    • @Appmyhome
      @Appmyhome  Рік тому

      that is interesting. we use iPhone so that hasn't been an issue. I take it the hub was their latest model? Curious if you contacted their support about the Android app.

      Hm. They might have fixed that because I connect to my 3 units via an android phone

    You can put multi adapters at each hose connector and have more than just 2.
    I’ve got 3 hoses watering my plants off this same timer, 7 days a week. 6-15-2022 👍🏻💪🦾💓
