- “Yeah, when George came through, he was looking for musicians to record and Ranie Burnette and them guys told him about me. I was working on the plantation then cutting silage. They brought him over to my house and he come up there and asked me could I play and could he record it. Said it was just for him to sit around the house and listen to. Then it was all-new, and I said okay. He brought some whiskey and a case or two of beer. We sat up until one or two that night and finally got it done. He went on back and called me eight or ten months later asked if he could make a record out of it. I said sure. A week or so later he sent me a copy. And that got me on the road.”

R L Burnside 'The man' I love his pure raw blues. His legacy lives on.
This kills the pain of being alive.
This is where it all began. The Stones, Zep, etc., etc., etc. all took their cue from Delta and Hill Country bluesmen. RIP RLB.
Recorded outside Coldwater, Mississippi, in 1968.
R.L Burnside is my favorite bluesman. That Hill Country Blues he plays is special. The talent he had should’ve made him a rich man.He was a salt of the earth simple man. Some say poor.I say rich beyond measure.
Same here except when I listen to Fred McDowell. I go back and forth
Instant fan. I think I only knew of the blues brothers that I really like. I just started listening to this guy and I can't stop listening.
Wailin' and moanin' and drinkin' and singin' and playin'... what's not to like? This is the genuine article right here...
R L is an American bad ass
amen
i came by accident.. listening to some '70 and there was the Black Keys.. and here we go, hit the roots.. there no accidents
"no accidents"? "Too bad, Jim... an' you see me laughin'?"
Mississippi and R.L.Burnside the history that goes on in that state. Let's look at the Mississippi Blues it goes way back to the Mississippi cotton field to today Blues. Its all America history.
Most pure sounding music u can hear no fantasy auto tune just a mississippi black man and an ol guitar pickin them blues God I love it you are truly missed RL Burnside
he was a strummer, not a picker
The Zen Master of Blues...
his voice is fantastic: fresh and clear, but at the same time, mature and powerful

This kind of Blues of Mississippi Delta goes deep down into soul
Mississippi Hill Country Blues
Not Delta. :(
It shows R.L. & Mississippi Fred were neighbors. And we're the lucky ones for it. Hill Country Blues Forever. Thanx for these Gems.

North (near Tennessee) Mississippi Hill Country Blues, not the Delta!
Gettin real Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, and even Leadbelly vibes
Muddy Waters was married to his cousin.
Muddy also covered Walkin' Blues and Rollin' & Tumblin'.
@@jchiliw So did FDR, Edgar Allen Poe, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
@@adamlane6453 Muddy Waters was married to
RL Burnsides cousin.
@@jchiliw oh lol I see now
this is amazing love the early real blues on acoustic guitar. it sounds so much more real
How I like this album man...
From first to last, within’ a breathe…
I've had my fair share of pain, blues is a healer and this stuff is pure medicine for my soul, as a musician I aspire to this, if you ain't got it with the bare essentials, a simple geeetar and vocal without all the fancy crap, you ain't got shit. This guy had it going on, but if you know you know, and if you don't that's a crying shame 🤘🔥🎸🎵
Música sensitiva... Magistral.
Love it ❤
Thank you
Thank you !!!
That's right!🎸
GODBLESS
LOVE!!!!!! BLUES!!!
Praise to the good Lord's God almighty be me a soulful soul
Holy. Oh. My. …oh wow, oh wow, oh wow, ohh -Yup this music right here is proof of some kind of god reaching down and touching the Earth here.. just wow
Peaches is really nice
Blues as Blues is blue...

Ahooooo
I’d give my left nut to see close up video of this actual recording of po black mattie, i’ve watched all the other vids of him on yt for years. i’m not buying that it’s just his thumb doing all the percussion , maybe extra boney finger tips smacking on the rosette, or are we hearing his foot tapping time too? There’s so much goin on. Regardless the man was a blues king no doubt

A classic! A must 🔝💓🔥
2022 🍻
It sounds like Dan Auerbach's tuning 🎸🎵
Auerbach's tuning sounds like Burnside's.
I'm sorry who's tuning sounds like who's? LOL what Josh said
What guitar acoustical is he playing here?
Who wants to light my ignorance ? Who's that "George" ?
Round up the dogs we going rabbit hunt'n

The Black Keys ripped you Off
