The more I listen to R.L.B the more I like. Just discovered his one man band style and I rate him right up there with all of the Greats!!! And I can`t leave out a mention for the young man on the drums!! He got it!!!
Ho ascoltato per la prima volta questo fantastico artista e sono rimasto semplicemente folgorato dal suo blues ipnotico ... grande grande grande ... e felice di averti scoperto ... ❤❤❤
Magical, music from another dimension, this is where music is really at, your actually hearing a man bare his soul, no special fancy production or autotune, raw talent, modern musicians need to pay attention, if you cant do it with the bare minimum first then you aint got shit. Aspire to this.
This is a re-release of the Adelphi/Gene's CD album, 'My Black Name Ringin," album, which is sometimes called his first album, as the George Mitchell session(s) were, was not originally released as a full album. He had a better guitar for this session, w/ a full midrange and bass in the recorded sound.
Though this one may have stayed entirely in the can/vault. It's a definitive album of a young Burnside performing the primary Staples of his repetoire.
Odd deal for. I actually went about it the other way. In some sort of odd universe it was somewhere around 2016 before I heard of the Black Keys but but was familiar with RL, Junior Kimbrough, Townes Van Zandt since the early 90's.
Tracklist 1. Goin' Down South 2. Two Trains Runnin' 3. Sat Down on my Bed and Cried 4. Nine Days in Jail 5. Long Haired Doney 6. Hobo Blues 7. My Black Name Ringin' Side B 1. Catfish Blues 2. See My Jumper 3. Peach Tree Blues 4. Goin' Away Blues 5. Poor Boy 6. Tom Wilson's Place
Absolutely perfect album. Burnside is a legend, right up there with Waters, Johnson and Hooker.
Love me some Burnside
My deeply troubled soul brought me here.
I keep finding more RL tracks and they guy is just the definition of authentic ..
Very much like Lightnin’ Hopkins
I'm liking it. Didn't know, I'm a blues fan. Excited to dig in.

No words can describe how wonderful this man could sing and play the Guitar... Simply beautiful!

I'm thinking the Sneaker Pimps were influenced by Burnside as well.

Slow down white boys
Early, raw, generic. He got beefed up, down low & dirty later on with 'its bad you know' & 'let my baby ride' tho hey.
