I can't help but think about when G.Coxon left Blur after the year 2000.I not only get extra sad for what was ending for myself, but I can read Damon's Facial expressions like a book. Watching this again after a good few years.. .It still makes me cry like my best ,childhood friend is moving away from me. That's exactly how Damon felt. Exactly. Thanks for understanding some of my life.PEACE
Jason Lashman What comforts me is knowing that Graham has returned and Damon has dedicated "The Magic Whip" to him. He said "Really this record is all about Graham. It's all about him. Not necessarily all the subject matter...but My Terracotta Heart is. It's about a grown man singing about another grown man. There's nothing wrong with that."
The problem with our band," Dave Rowntree told me recently, "has always been founded on the fact that all four of us have got one sister and no brothers. We've become each other's surrogate brothers, and that brings with it an ability to understand each other very deeply - and an ability to push each other's buttons at will.
One of the surprising facts of the BlinK 182 self-titled album (2003) was inspired by this album, Tom was very inspired by this album which made Blink 182 writing the lyrics more serious and focused on the 2003 Iraq War.
Damn, I still can't get over how terribly handsome Damon is in this video. Plus the beautiful music, I'm just always stunned. Think tank is my most favorite album by Blur. To be honest, I like all of their albums but this one with it's gentleness, a bit of melancholy and the sound (!) just makes it for me :)
the best compliment i can make about this beautiful is I suspect David Bowie would have been proud to have written it. Think Tank completely changed my mind about Blur, especially Damon.
In the documentary "No distance left to run" the band members remarked that recording "Think Tank" without Graham (who is only heard on "battery in your leg") was refreshing, since it allowed them to go outside the box. But as soon as they hit the road, they had a Graham-shaped void on stage which simply couldn't be filled with Simon Tong doing the six string duties. Tong played the songs but he wasn't Graham, not just in his playing but the interaction the band members had on stage, it simply wasn't the same without Graham. Blur wasn't Blur anymore.
RastaSaiyaman I literally just watched the documentary, they dont say anything about it being "refreshing as they could go out the box". If anything it would've done the opposite. Sure there's a more international sounding album. But Graham is probably the most! "out of the box" member of the band, it's his influence that makes there old music "weird pop music" as opposed to just pop music
Caleb Kendrick yuppers graham is the one who takes things out of the box... he makes blur blur... no graham no blur... he is their sound and character...
thank you :) Simon Tong is Albarn's homeboy, it seems. They kept going on Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & The Queen. I also think I saw him on some video of Albarn rehearsing for Dr Dee.
Very rarely.. musicians get to play live on TOTP...but Blur have managed to play a classic ( my favourite ) song...The only thing that spoils this, is the fuc*in audience clapping!...WTF...This song is all about reflecting on life!. Never stop dreaming people............
Damon has had different levels of hotness over the years, and I think this is my favorite: still-young face, but with stubble instead of his usual clean shave.
@M. @@maddoggp8283 I don't think that's true, Damon mentioned him several times as one of his heroes (which is easy to see as they have so many things in common). He just didn't like some of his 90s outputs (he said that in a 95 interview with Ray Cokes, it's on UA-cam), whereas other members of Blur didn't like him at all. I believe it was Graham especially who wasn't really into Bowie, but I think he's changed his mind since then
Ok fair enough, he wrote the structures for most of their earlier stuff, but graham wrote the guitar parts. Damon is a good guitarist but he could never dream up the sorts of things coxon plays.
Oh!!That song is so wonder ful but Damon is making me falling in love with him each time I see him , and more again right here! Damon is a too sexy beautiful devil angel from I don't know. where....But you can only love him..
Only one way to answer that "Yeah I know what I know -I don't know what I know- Yeah I know what I know - please don't cry - na na na na na na - hey Jude...."
I happen to feel like this is Blur's most honest era. I think throughout the rest of their career they were trying to sound like other bands. Think Tank was kinda unique. Leisure them being MBV, the trilogy of britpop albums was them being the Kinks, the self-titled one was Pavement and i suppose 13 was in a similar vibe to Think Tank, but on the whole sounded forced, except for a few of Damon's sad songs. What do you think?
Ok, well watch performances after graham left and notice how much less impressive the guitar sounds, Graham Coxon is vital to Blur even Damon said that, that's why they wouldn't of reformed if Graham wasn't on board.
top class song. blur just keep getting better. graham leaves and you think the next albums gonne be shit but in my opinion come out with their best. but like ltothem11 says if you think about it logically graham never had much creative imput in the band so its not actually much of a loss
how?. graham left the band because he didnt like the direction DAMON was taking it. graham had some creative imput into their self titled album blur but that was really it. he didnt like the way 13 went and left when think tank was more from the same genre as 13
Damon will always be my no1 celeb crush. Loved blur. My whole bedroom was a shrine to Damon as a teenager! :)
same but today haha
Saaaame. I’m 40 now, loved him since I was 13.
He’s still gorgeous
I have a Damon poster. And every morning I say "good morning Damon"
I also have a poster of Damon with Jamie Hewlett. Damon's been my crush since high school
I think it's a bit wierd that everybody's clapping, not really a clappy song
yeah... I just notice that :(
Brain dead sheep in the studio crowd....would clap anything if told too.
People are weird
They did what they were told.
Damon looks so sad here. :(

One of my favourite songs. Damon is ridiculously talented.
The problem with our band," Dave Rowntree told me recently, "has always been founded on the fact that all four of us have got one sister and no brothers. I cried as soon as I saw the other guitarist. Blur is hardly Blur without Graham. You can tell Damon needs him and that this is a cry for his friend.
if there was ever a song that wasnt a clap clap clap along to song, this is certainly it
Clapping along always feels so German to me. They’re the ones that always clapped along like automatons, especially to march tempo music.
the best compliment i can make about this beautiful is I suspect David Bowie would have been proud to have written it. Think Tank completely changed my mind about Blur, especially Damon.
Funnily enough, David Bowie would say in an interview that he really liked this song.
I ever thought this song was made for Graham
i saw a man so beautiful i cried. but honestly. this song is so beautiful and his voice sounds really great here
In the documentary "No distance left to run" the band members remarked that recording "Think Tank" without Graham (who is only heard on "battery in your leg") was refreshing, since it allowed them to go outside the box.

Graham without Damon is meh!!
thank you :) Simon Tong is Albarn's homeboy, it seems. They kept going on Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & The Queen. I also think I saw him on some video of Albarn rehearsing for Dr Dee.
Listen to the words. He's yearning for his friend.
Coxon's spirit never left Blur.
Very rarely.. musicians get to play live on TOTP...but Blur have managed to play a classic ( my favourite ) song...The only thing that spoils this, is the fuc*in audience clapping!...WTF...This song is all about reflecting on life!. Never stop dreaming people............
I have to say this is my fav song of all time
It’s difficult for me to hear this tune and NOT play the accompanying official music video in my head.
Something in Damon's expression reminds me to Cylian Murphy.
Damon has had different levels of hotness over the years, and I think this is my favorite: still-young face, but with stubble instead of his usual clean shave.
I don't know how he plays guitar this way !
It's hard to believe they got to actually play it live on this show
well it was their last real hit in the UK
He sounds a bit like David Bowie!
Alana didn’t know that when did he mention that?
@Alana Find David Bowie, Damon Albarn Fashion/Interview(Trafic Musique) 2003.09.

amo esta cancion,me recuerda momentos unicos de mi vida.amo a blur! vuelvan a argentina!
Damon looks as if he's about to cry in this performance :(... but Graham is back :)
Damon is indeed absolutly wonderful on the outside and on the inside.Marvelous creature.God so exists;
This was the song that made me a big Blur fan...
SO-GOODLOOKING *sigh* and he still does.
Adore the backing singing in this song. They make it to be fair x
This song is so beautiful
God Damon is beautiful on so many levels
With this song, Demon's melody reached the realm of God.
Still freaking one of my best song.
Ok fair enough, he wrote the structures for most of their earlier stuff, but graham wrote the guitar parts. Damon is a good guitarist but he could never dream up the sorts of things coxon plays.
Molto bella, ancora molto bella, molto rilevante, progressiva, considerati il loro background musicale
This song makes me feel good anytime the world gives me shit
people in the comments were talking some years ago about the people clapping ... i feel it's a very clappy song
they all look like they fed up of everything.
This song is fantastic. Never been into Blur or Damon but I do like this one.
Que belleza de canción
You can really hear the beginnings of The Gorillaz here and in the original recording. Genius song.
My only wish is to kiss those beautiful, sad eyes ...
How do you kiss eyes ??
Well that’s just fucking weird
I love this song :)))
曲の作り方がうまい。
Most beautiful man and human being Damon who was brang on our planet!!Angel from the skies above!!!!
I love Alex’s bass in this vid, anyone know what exact model it is?
Este grupo es increible. Embarrada que no vengan a Colombia
Damon rules forever!!Amazing artist and so beautiful man there's no word...Def in love with him!!!
Genius, amazing song !!! ^^
@lmbarca1942 They are still around. Blur never broke up. They're just not doing anything new atm.
I LOVE THIS SONG, I LOVE BLUR !!
damon looked unhappy
Out of time is one of the best
Oh!!That song is so wonder ful but Damon is making me falling in love with him each time I see him , and more again right here! Damon is a too sexy beautiful devil angel from I don't know. where....But you can only love him..
otra canción exquisita de un grande blur
that riff tough 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
He was 35 at the time.. very handsome indeed
Only one way to answer that "Yeah I know what I know -I don't know what I know- Yeah I know what I know - please don't cry - na na na na na na - hey Jude...."
I'm so in love with Damon!! This guy is The angel from the sky!!
@Emilybudgie He meant Graham left, and yes they are doing new stuff.
Good times❤
I see this comment in some guise or another in every blur video I watch, it gets old quite quickly.
increible ke ya han pasado 9 años, wow!
Forever
PERO QUE TEMASOOOOOOOOO... EXCELLENT!!
Damon love of my life Albarn, what a man!
I miss coxon in this, apart from that, fucking beautiful song!
Amazing song, just got 10000 more relevant :-(
LOVE IT
Feel the sunshine on your face. It’s in a computer now.
This is one of my favorite Blur songs ever. I’m glad those twits in the audience stopped clapping along ...it’s definitely not that kind of song.
Awwwww!! beautiful song! damon
in love with this guy,no matter am straight(:
Genial aún sin el genio de Graham...
ES una de las que más me gustan!
can someone tell me if is it Simon Tong on guitar?
fine record
esta cancion es simplemente espectacular mi tercera cancion favorita de blur.
I happen to feel like this is Blur's most honest era. I think throughout the rest of their career they were trying to sound like other bands. Think Tank was kinda unique. Mark Humphrey complete bollox
Joe King I agree. Think Tank and now Magic Whip are their finest work, truly unique. Damon needed to start Gorillaz to find his voice
I’d argue 13 is their most honest and raw era
How has he aged to 50 years old in 6 years here, looked so young before
Damon not the same without Graham, and BLUR IS CERTAINLY NOT THE SAME WITHOUT GRAHM!
Ok, well watch performances after graham left and notice how much less impressive the guitar sounds, Graham Coxon is vital to Blur even Damon said that, that's why they wouldn't of reformed if Graham wasn't on board.
...is it just the song? ...or is t really sad to see blur without graham? :-(
Hermoso Damon Albarn!!
Top of the Pops was still a thing in 2003?
Omg they look so sad :c
@1MartinD28 Yeah, Think Tank is quite Lennonesque.
Only pre-2000 I think.
any ideas why the microkorg over damon?
damon is beautiful
top class song. blur just keep getting better. graham leaves and you think the next albums gonne be shit but in my opinion come out with their best. but like ltothem11 says if you think about it logically graham never had much creative imput in the band so its not actually much of a loss
"Graham never had much creative input in the band so its not actually much of a loss." 14 years later, and this is even more wrong than it was then.
Oouhhh :( it shows a lot like damon misses Graham My babies 🤧💕💕
@mceemel This was in 2003
@Reckoner190285 Yes ! No Coxon, no Blur.
Hot!!
how?. graham left the band because he didnt like the direction DAMON was taking it. graham had some creative imput into their self titled album blur but that was really it. he didnt like the way 13 went and left when think tank was more from the same genre as 13
Damon My Lover....*-*
Graham's missing😢but nice song
sounds live, but TOTP was always in playback, wasn't it?
near the end of its run it started to have live performances in an attempt to keep its audience
@MrPacman2010 I guess its about find your moment in your life, to realize what are you living fot
Damon Albarn. Professione: genio.
