We used to fill a box full of newspapers then put some hay bales against the shed that we were gonna tear down in the spring....then the next year another shed....so it worked out good and the back yard got bigger every year.
that's a common snapping turtle, alligator snappers have three ridges on their back. also the pink tongue is only on the alligator snappers. That turtle is starving, sickly skinny
You would love my hunting set up I have my tree stand next to a pond I'm 15ft up while I'm deer hunting I always bring my fishing pole and cast it out of my stand never go hunting without catching something
I saw a guy walking carrying one of those big snappers and swung to close to his leg and bit him right on the inner thigh right through his coveralls if hadnt been wearing those probably would have lost a chunk of flesh.
Poor snapper id on his last legs. No healthy fat/meat, resting on the shore due to lack of strength. Either sick or most likely, old age. The shell is adult size, so id assume its just dwindled away do to age.
Son, those snappers are one of the nastiest creatures in the swamp!
