Is it just me, or is the sound quality a little... weird? Sounds like they recorded using a mic in the main room somewhere instead of using the individual sources themselves. Oh well, only a minor annoyance.
I think it is a missplay from Thijs at 1:19:03, he should have hit the Imp Gang boss, just received 2 damage and kill the spawned imp, not lethal for Kranich then
no, he knew he was dead to power overwhelming either way (it was overkill whether cast on imp gang boss or flame imp), so he took the line that gave him more potential to win the game if the opponent didn't have power overwhelming. by taking out the 3/2 flame imp, he removed the only target on the opponent's board that could trade into a 3/3 patron without spawning a new patron. with the flame imp gone, thijs would be able to spawn more patrons by hitting the 2/4 imp gang boss and the 1/1 spawned imp. the opponent would also not be able to make any favorable trades and would have to just try to race thijs, but with more patrons on the board thijs would be able to 1) control the board more easily, and more importantly 2) gain a lot more armor if he draws armorsmith. and then potentially find lethal in a few turns as the warlock taps. basically, you have to consider what cards the opponent has, because the damage you are taking comes in packages of known quantities. the warlock can only damage you with cards, and you know all the warlock cards. there is no card that just deals 1 damage or even some variable level of damage since imp-losion can't be aimed at the face. moreover zoo only runs a couple damaging cards. the only cards that you instantly lose to are power overwhelming and doomguard. there's no way to play around PO since you can't leave him with zero minions on board, and there's no way to play around doomguard period since you only have one taunt in hand. the only other zoo card that could potentially represent lethal is knife juggler plus cheap minions plus really lucky juggles, but this can't be played around either. so when considering your play here, you want to play around anything that can potentially kill you, but if it's not possible to play around the 4 dmg from PO or the 5 dmg from doomguard, you simply want to "play your own game," just assuming they don't have lethal and doing whatever gives you the highest chances of either getting out of lethal range or finishing the game as fast as possible, before they draw the cards that can kill you. in this case, the difference of 1 attack makes no difference in terms of your actual survival. it doesn't put you out of range of power overwhelming or doomguard, and in fact doesn't actually change anything for your own life total since you're taking damage from whichever minion when you attack it with a weapon either way. the difference of 1 attack also doesn't affect whether your opponent will draw into lethal. in some matchups that's the relevant consideration, like leaving a mage with a spell power minion on board might give them an extra out if you're at a certain life total. but yeah in this case, flame imp and imp gang boss were functionally identical, except for one small difference. if the warlock isn't able to end the game immediately, the flame imp is a lot more capable of trading with grim patrons. you don't just want to survive, you have to actually end the game at some point since you're at low HP and you're not exactly playing a control deck. the sooner you end the game, the fewer turns you give your opponent to draw into burst. in this case the warlock already had burst so it was totally inconsequential what play thijs took, but if the opponent didn't have power overwhelming, not killing the flame imp would have allowed the warlock to remove a full health grim patron and really dramatically increase his chances of fighting back against thijs' win condition. we see that kranich already had mal'ganis and sea giant, and these both could have won him the long game. if he was trying to leverage those cards as win conditions, then he'd have to actually survive against the onslaught of grim patrons for several turns. so having 3-attack minions to trade with those patrons would really help. the imp gang boss and the imps it spawns actually become liabilities when the board is full of grim patrons. so in such a situation i think it's certainly correct to leave the imp gang boss alive. remove it if you can, but if you have to choose between a flame imp and an imp gang boss, certainly prioritize killing the 3/2. you're dead to the same burst cards either way so it can't really be called a misplay. killing the imp gang boss wouldn't have saved him, but killing the flame imp actually gave him higher chances of winning the game in the off chance that kranich did not already have burst damage.
Boy oh boy, terrible sound quality, loud pointless game sounds, not to mention one of the commentators having an insufferable accent. #proffesional EDIT: Commentators who commentate like they learned to play HS yesterday. Great.
so bad play from thijs, disapointment after disapointment, wtf, after the ysera when he had the chance to clear the board he OBVIOUSLY should have but he went super greedy scrub mode and lost the round, im just happy he didnt win the tournament
Is that Lew @UnboxTherapy at 1:40?
+John Kramps He is Nias i think or something like that. He played in the 16th best..

+Christian H. (Krmel) It's not you. Sounds like they did the recording from inside a metal bucket.
+Christian H. (Krmel) Actually I think it's that the mics are picking up the sound played over the speakers in the room.
16:10 first round
Thijs not bringing the standard cancer decks is what truly makes him a great player.
Was waiting to see this game, heard it was great
Amazing performance from Thiijs in the first match :)
+BeFoRe it looks like thijs wil win it al
& I thought patron was dead after the nerf? guess not

sound quality is freaking terrible wtf. sounds mechanical.
didn't they test sound quality before doing this event? that seems super lazy
thijs FTW, The Netherlands❤
but its kinguin so nope
Fact that Kranić is some korean guy is hilarius.
A bit surprised by Thijs' strategy against the druid deck. Anyway, he's the best player at the moment
+vaguira2 Ostkaka is the best player at moment for me. But Thijs is very good too. Like kranich of course;
That windows Replay tho...
Congratz Thijs!
Kranich is Hunted by Flying Dutchman
Alot of prompter reading going on.
The obvious comments of the commentators annoy me, is like they are explaining how the game works for rookies.
Good lord the music in this video is annoying. Just repetitive jingles.
At least it isn't "EVERYONE GET IN HERE!" or "I'LL SHOW THEM ALL!"
Wow the crowd sucks!...
lol patient assassin
Thiijs dragon priest this series was wayyyy weaker imo to his priest that he played against kno
EU number 1 ez :^)
I don't like the script... Charisma lost
Boy oh boy, terrible sound quality, loud pointless game sounds, not to mention one of the commentators having an insufferable accent. #proffesional
EDIT: Commentators who commentate like they learned to play HS yesterday. Great.
Lol complaining because a caster has an "accent"
#justMuricanthings
cutlass23 It's an obvious and hard hitting accent. Not an "accent". Also I'm in the middle of europe.
+Lethal Pigeon Oh well.... in that case, please excuse my racism 😜
***** They aren't noobs, they're people trying hard to make a show FOR noobs.
+Lethal Pigeon
None of them are HS noobs and the accent is hardly an issue.
So, good complains?
