there was a hidden play that Ostkaka could have done in the Rogue vs. Mage match, instead of killing the mad scientist to get the 1st ice barrier up and then attack with his minion, he instead should have attacked FIRST with the minion and THEN killed the mad scientist, that way the ice barrier would still be active and the 2nd mad scientist will not be able to fish the 2nd ice barrier from Thijs's deck small differences like these can mean a lot
That loatheb topdeck just crushed my soul, thijs read ostkakas hand so well and knew it wasn't there (one card had to be sap saved for doomdayer since the first sap was already used on an acolyte). Insane level of thinking in these games, brilliant
Can anyone please please tell me what is the name of the uber-epic background song starting at 2:04:44? Have been searching it for weeks. massive thanks
At 1:34 why not just fireball ping the antonitas? Wait for frostbolt to play your archmage and then get 5 fireballs with your archmage later instead of just 3, and you loose out on a lot of damage playing it the way he did. I think that's why Ostkaka lost this game when he clearly had better positioning up to that point.
+badass447 Because Ostkaka clearly doesn't know how to play a mage mirror match. He had an amaing hand with emperor, alex, tony and a bunch of spells. He should've been able to get more fireballs than Thijs could heal, also he should've played alex aggressively since he did have an extra ice block and so much damage which means that if he manages to pop their ice block first, he automatically wins.
Never understood why people liked thijs so much, especially in the mage vs rogue match, with that random Antonidas and the refusal to actually use flamestrike.
In the second game on the turn that ostkaka healbot couldnt he have hero powered himself so he's be put at 15 health which would deny lethal for thijs the next turn?
+Herman Oosterveen He should have frostbolted the doomsayer along Alexstraza self. It costs 9 mana, so he had the mana. And as kill the doomsayer with the Emperor. But I think he went for the greedy play and wanted to save Frostbolt for face
That final match win was well deserved by Ostkaka. He thought ahead and saved all his spells instead of clearing the board. He may have topdecked the Alextrasza, but still he played smart. At 2:09:18, you could see Thijs touching his forehead in frustration, lol.
That ping from Ostkaka was great but sadly at that point it absolutely didn't matter what he would do. He couldn't win that game with anything. He had no burn, only minions, and Thijs had two freezes for minions + burn. There were never a chance to win the game when Ostkaka came up with this play.
Probably no one will ever read this comment XD I was so hoping Thijs would dump his holy Novas for aggression since it's out was hoping his opponent couldn't kill him yet and if he had he would have made it to the finals. It's probably not statistically the right play without Caster Vision though
Ive played Thijs today he was rank 3 and me rank 2 was a close match vs his freeze match when he dropped reno I already wanted to give up but I made a few solid plays which won me the game GG to him
This video is a testament to the vast skill ceiling of playing control decks. Both the Freeze v. Control Warrior and the Freeze Mirror showed that. The number of microdecisions about resource use that had to be made is absolutely staggering, and honestly conventional aggro (Face Hunter at the time when this video was released) just doesn't have that skill ceiling. All people that like deep and complex gameplay should receive a link to this video.
+Ghost [DoubleBeats prod.] His hand was getting full and he needed the space to draw more important cards. He didn't need the flamestrike because the opponent's deck didn't run any/many killable minions at all.
+venom89890 because thijs had fireball and frostbolt (9 damage) + hero power = 10 damage. when he pinged himself he denied thijs from getting him to 1 hp.
+venom89890 Iceblock doesnt block fatiguedamage, so when you know that you are going to take 1 damage from fatigue next turn, you must try to avoid that your opponent can put you to 1hp. Had ostkaka stayed at 10hp, he would be dead to fireball+frostbolt (which he essentially knows Thijs has, because all freeze mages run two of them). So, when he pings himself down to 9hp, fireball+frostbolt would not kill him (just proc the iceblock, and leaving Ostkaka at 3hp). Fireball+fireblast also doenst work because that deals 7damage, so Ostkaka would have 2 hp going in to the next turn.
OHHHHHHHHHH that's a card! OH,OH,OH,OH that's a card that's a card OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FOOOOOORSEN! :3 that's a card! IM SCAMAAAAAAAAZ Im going to rig you game! ahuahuahuahuahuahu
+Justin Sti But i think ladder more about quality winning than a lost, what is the point to ladder if you don't want to win, you know. It isn't boring just taking lot of time to deal these players or when you are playing freeze mage, it does take some time to plan the moves. I m pretty sure if you play the freeze mage you will also take some quality time to plan your next move.
+scrapie22 cheap like uninteractive and boring to play against, and obviously absolutely brainless, at least guys in aggro decks have to play around removal, freeze mage is pretty much playing hearthstone by yourself, if you get the wrong draws or matchup you lose, the right ones you win, that's how freeze mage works, so if you are the right matchup against freeze mage you instantly win unless topdeck saves him, if you are the wrong one you instantly lose unless he gets bad draws and you get insane topdecks. It doesn't matter how it is, there is absolutely no fun in playing against a freeze mage or tempo mage, they are the true cancer of hearthstone.
+Pedro Gustavo . From the official Hearthstone website: 2015 World Championship Match Format - “Conquest” - All matches will be best-of-5. The first player to win 3 games within the match is considered the winner of the match and advances. - Each player must submit decklists from three unique classes prior to each stage of the event. Players may submit new decks prior to each stage of the event. - A player must win one game with each of his three decks to win the match. - When a player wins a game, the deck used by the winning player cannot be used for the remainder of the match. - The losing player can keep the same deck used or switch to a different one of their choice. - Players will be told what classes their opponent has available, but they won’t know which class is picked until both players have picked.
+Jan-Jakub Kopecký If he had stayed on 10 hp, he would have been killed by Thijs, because if Thijs plays a fireball and a frostbolt in that situation, he sets Ostkaka to 1 hp, and because fatigue doesn't trigger the block, Ostkaka dies to the fatigue damage.
+Jan-Jakub Kopecký Fireball (6) + Frostbolt(3) = 9 Ostkaka life became1. Thijs only need to pass to make +1 fatigue damage, because secret only trigger on the opponent turn. So Ostkaka pinged himself because if Thijs play Fireball + Frostbolt + ping when trigger the secret the life became 2 instead
+Kocsarrd I still don't get it... What would happen if the Ice Block have been activated? Ostkaka would be immune to the end of this turn, he would get to 1 hp, and at beggining of next turn - his turn - he would get 1 damage from fatigue, right? Shouldn't it kill him?
+punchek the last instance of damage from his frostbolt will only put him at 3 health because after fireball, Ostkaka's health is 3, and the frostbolt will be "lethal", causing him to be immune with 3 health left. Fatigue will only do 1 damage and not kill Ostkaka.
+Guilherme Garcia mindgames. Ur opponent can think, that u have 1 turn drop, but u won't put it on board, like priest, who thinking in 1 turn may have 1/3 vs warrior, which may have fire waraxe. I don't know that u understood me but I was trying.
Even the best players are making little mistakes sometimes. Remember , they're under heavy pressure. Unless you're very extrovertic guy, you wouldn't probably be able to speak , being in their position.
+mickeydusk Blizzard chose them because everyone loves to listen to them. They were really into those matches and their enthusiasm was contagious, couldn't ask for better casters.
Enrico Fasoli u might wanna narrow down everyone a bit... I dont have anything against them. They seem like cool guys. Its just not optimal when i cant understand what they are trying to say.
aosxion You're right. Meeting more people would help me understand thick finnish and ukrainian accents. Its a shame your vast intelligence is lost here on youtube. Go out and lecture people in your huge bubble of people. Thank you.

Still the greatest Hearthstone match ever. Exemplary tournament action at the highest level. "Worthy of a grand final match" indeed, Ostkaka.
1:45:30
ostkaka's facial expressions never change its fantastic
@1:45:00 best play ever made in a Hearthstone match, its just soooo deep..
Such an insane match!
Not gona lie, i was rooting for thijs, and it was sooo close.
Didn't know hs could be this intense.

You know it's a Hearthstone tournament when you see those guys on stage sitting apart from the girls.
+Skrap Post lol which scene?
+AdrianGuys lol, nope
man this was intense! 2 very brilliant players.
They should have that epic music in game :0
+Michael Andres Having too overpowering music can really take away from the atmosphere.

great slow pace game, so intense . love it

Such a joy to see once more a freezing mage beaten ! Cool ;-)
Echoing sound + a bit too loud music = not optimal but still good enough

what? thijs played that game so well, drew horribly, made the best of it he could and soulread ostkaka for not having loatheb (correctly)
In the second game on the turn that ostkaka healbot couldnt he have hero powered himself so he's be put at 15 health which would deny lethal for thijs the next turn?
what was that play from thijs on 01:43:24 ? Why didn't he frostbolt the doomsayer ? Or why didn't he hit face ?
he had not enough mana for alexstraza and frostbolt
+simpsonak5 Because Ostkaka had Ice Barrier
+Herman Oosterveen He should have frostbolted the doomsayer along Alexstraza self. It costs 9 mana, so he had the mana. And as kill the doomsayer with the Emperor. But I think he went for the greedy play and wanted to save Frostbolt for face

This music makes me mad... what a pity !
Why Thijs use Flamestrike? He could just kill skelet with heropower... or no?
+Ghost [DoubleBeats prod.] His hand was getting full and he needed the space to draw more important cards. He didn't need the flamestrike because the opponent's deck didn't run any/many killable minions at all.
omg, that 4th game :D
that loatheb
oh god
2:10:58 COngratulations Thij....Ostkaka
Dendi !!! Navi so bad now though
why ostkaka use heropower to himself in fourth match at 1:46:00 ??
+venom89890 because thijs had fireball and frostbolt (9 damage) + hero power = 10 damage. when he pinged himself he denied thijs from getting him to 1 hp.
+venom89890 Iceblock doesnt block fatiguedamage, so when you know that you are going to take 1 damage from fatigue next turn, you must try to avoid that your opponent can put you to 1hp. Wow uploaded 13 minutes ago WutFace
i cant STAND freeze mages on ladder. Its just so boring and 1 game takes like a hour. Its such a cheap deck imo
+Justin Sti anything is better than boring hunters and paladins, of course the ladder is full of this filth...

They had to choose which classes to bring......
