In Defender mode the Viper deploys retractable armor plating that makes it bulletproof, and it has survived several rocket hits, although it suffered heavy damage from those attacks. It has cameras everywhere, can be driven remotely, and it is armed with something called a static pulse weapon that disables all electronics it hits, as well as grappling hooks, machine guns (at least in later seasons) and missiles.
