Waking the Fallen is still, by and far, their best album hands down but City of Evil is definitely a high quality album. Their newer stuff is pretty meh for the most part in my opinion
@@masterbeattie973 Unholy Confessions is a song that is on the Waking the Fallen album. Don’t try to tell me about A7X. On the same stage with them and signed my name by theirs in the green room.
You should watch the actual music video. It's based on "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", a movie starring Johnny Depp and even a small cameo by Tobey Maguire. But the guitar solo is basically all hammer-ons and bends. Synyster Gates (age 19 at the time iirc) won best guitarist that year at the metal awards. Some even pegged him as going down as one of the greatest back then. A neat thing about "Sidewinder" is the acoustic guitar part that is a "call and echo" where one side plays and then the other side (left speaker, right speaker) replies. It's actually two guitarists for that part, and it's not between Synyster Gates and Zachy Vengeance. It's Synyster Gates and his dad, dubbed "Papa Gates". You might also recognize him as "Guitar Guy" from Jeff Dunham's standup.
Madden 06 introduced me to A7X, Disturbed, Godsmack, BFMV, Finch, Fall Out Boy, Tech 9, and Chamillionaire and it’s my favorite soundtrack to this day.
One of two songs that got me into music and now my favorite band of all time, the other is Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden (which they’re awesome as well). Get ready to headbang until it hurts! 🤘
Gibby, you have to do Eternal Rest, Clairvoyant Disease, Radiant Eclipse, And All Things Will End and Desecrate Through Reverence, it's sooo damn good, you won't regret it.
Dude I literally got chills when you said you love how they slow it down like that because I absolutely LOVE that part. Been listening to this song for years. Love it.
watching you react to songs i’ve heard 1000 times over makes me appreciate them so much more and vibe with it even more than i already did. you gotta do unbound next! you will love it
I remember listening to this solo for the 1st time ever, the amount of confusion i was in during the harmony, have in mind i never heard a harmony before as i didnt grow up with rock or metal, i could not make sense of it as how 2 guitars can be playing leads at the same time, so when i learnt to play guitar i learnt both harmonies and the satisfaction of it was and is my favorite to this day 2nd place learning panic attack from dream theater but for other reasons.
Awesome reactions to all Avenged Sevenfold songs man! Seen you like some of their patriotic songs. Try Hero of War by Rise Against. Not a crazy beat song just curious about your input on it. God bless man keep up the good vibes!
You're correct that this was in Madden. I don't remember which one but I think it was 07 or 09. I think when Vince Young was on the cover. Or Peyton Hillis. Idk one of those one hit wonders haha. I really am shocked this is the first time you listened to this song. I don't pay much attention to it because I played this song on repeat for a year straight. Downloaded it on limewire on dial up internet. Took all night but I put it on my little mp3 player and had it on repeat on the bus. This should seriously be considered as a timeless metal song.
This song made it in the NHL 2005 game and i guess 10 years ago me and my family Player this game and it Was our first time hearing this Band and we loved it. The Song fits 100% to a video game because the energy of the Song is pushing you up❤🔥
It's true. This is a case where their moat popular song is truly their beat song. And that's no knock on the band. This song is just such a fucking banger.
Sometimes the big radio hit songs of bands I like are the ones I eventually get sick of. This isn't one of those. This song is and always will be amazing. 11 out of 10.
Gibby...you should be an inspirational speaker, like my god I feel so uplifted after hearing you talk at the end...awesome reaction by the way I love this song
Watch (or read) Fear and loathing in Las Vegas It's what inspired this song "We can't stop here, this is bat country" " He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"
@D-Gibby You came out with this on my birthday, they were the first band to get me into metal back in 2005-2006. Coincidence, doubt it! Im now 29. Mad respect for Avenged Sevenfold foREVer & and love your reactions. Keep pumping out content, I'll be here for the ride!
Much love my brotha. It's great to hear you spread the gospel! Amen. How can others find their way if they can't see the light. Much of metal music, as this song does, attempts to illustrate the darkness, however, not for the purpose of embracing it but to channel it and expel it constructively.
Yes sir!!! I’ve been waiting for this reaction for so long 🙏 you’re almost done with the CoE album, next should be “Burn It Down” by A7X off of City of Evil 🤘
This song & video is based off Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. He died shortly after this was released. “He who makes a beast of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man” is actually a quote from the book.
THIS SONG/VIDEO HAD ME WAKING UP EARLY WHEN IT PLAYED IN 11-12TH GRADE LOL.....TV STAYED ON MUSIC CHANNEL WHEN SLEEPING IF NOT RADIO BUT HAD TO BE MTV OR VH1 AT THE TIME LOL
The part "My hand is on the trigger, I'm ready to ignite, tomorrow might not make it, but everything's alright" is a reference to Hunter S. Thompson committing suicide shortly before the song was written. He shot himself in the head while on the phone with his wife. This song is a tribute of sorts. Very important outside of popularity. The music video for this song is what got A7X invited to play on TRL, and Beast and the Harlot's music video is what got them banned from MTV. It was fun while it lasted! 😅
Not watched one of your vids for a while (my bad), but you're looking good my man. Hope all is well with you - and this song was the first song by A7X I ever listened to and got me hooked on them back in my high school days!
6:00 Most of their lyrics about this sort of stuff aren't necessarily their real opinion about it. It's more like they're interpreting someone (likely based on themselves) in their moments of weakness, kinda to illustrate such periods in a completely unfiltered manner... After all, we all know having doubts about what's up there is part of the lives of everyone, religious or not. Kinda similar to their song God Hates Us, which (in the Nightmare's album order) comes right after So Far Away, which kinda represents their momentary tho total loss of fate after The Rev's departure - which, let's be honest, it's quite reasonable to feel that way after losing someone that close to you. All in all, they're definitely *not* anti god and/or religion, as they have plenty of songs about it in a very different, more receptive light (which tbh, they treat it a lot more positively than a lot of metal bands).
Yo bro. Been watching u for months now. I love your view and opinions on the band. I am the same way with System of a Down and avenged sevenfold. Granted I grew up listening to these bands and u didn’t, but my conservative and Christian views contrast with some lyrics but it all falls under FREEDOM of our beautiful country and our blessed lives. God bless the Ginny gang and you brother. 👍🏼 keep working hard and god bless America. RIP rev. My request is dimmu borgir PURITANIA
a lot of the lyrics and theme for the song, including the music video, are based on Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas edit- including the title of the song lol
Insert "ABOUT D@MN TIME" comments....🤣
Should've been the first brother. But glad you made it here. Bless.
You gotta react to Scream next! It’s off their title album. Definitely a banger 🤘🤘

Can't believe you didn't checked this one yet, the guitar solo is amazing!
100% agree, Syn did an absolute masterpiece with his guitar solo in Bat Country and it’s one of my favorites of all time.
you can't not talk about the fucking drumming too, Jimmy absolutely murdered the drums in this song and the rest of the entire album
I knew he’d love this. Listen to Crossroads or Lost it All by A7X. They got this same energy
Most definitely crossroads that song is Legit 🤘🏼
Agreed
Yes!!! Crossroads!! I’ve been requesting this song for a very long time!!
Definitely Crossroads
Finally someone reminds these songs
