Having attended games where SWAC football teams are clobbered by SEC schools for a paycheck, the halftime program is usually turned over to those same schools who school those traditional style bands in musicianship. Many of the HBCU schools bands can not only march, play and dance, without sheet music, but can do it in real time. And they can also go into a studio setting and still give a traditional performance. As a 1977 JSU graduate, I am very proud of the "Boom" and of all HBCU schools.
I loved it...I thoroughly enjoyed this lol!! Great job Sonic Boom!! This is coming from a FAMU graduate:-) Much love to you all and way to represent HBCUs everywhere!
This brings me so much pride! My grandfather is a former JSU bus driver, so I grew up around the BOOM, starting around '03. I love "Nobody Does It Better" and "Get Ready!" They always astounded me when I was younger, and now is no exception! You better get it Sonic BOOM! GO JSU!
This was my freshman year... I was so mad that they only allowed the upperclassmen to go.... All of my fellow freshmen & sophomore band members were back on campus mad that they wouldn't let us go... LOL
They only have room for so many. Of course they will only take the most experienced. The others should have been excited and wishing them well from home. That’s how a team works. One band One sound! 👀🤷🏿♀️
My freshman year on bone baby.. this trip was off tha chain.. we met so many people... it was pre-recorded as far as the wind instruments go, but we still played along softly...
This was my second semester of my FRESHMEN yr at JSU in the spring of 03....FRESHMEN WERE ALLOWED.. I'm on stage with a few of my crab brothers and sisters... It was an AUDITION of all band members to see who would be selected.. Our classification didn't make a difference. @@kikieaddy2576
King Cedric you are so amazing. To see you pay tribute to the school I graduated from is one the greatest things I have ever seen. I love you my brother in Christ.Much love, respect, and support forever. Dr.Cedric Dixon (PhD)
Jackson state university has the best band ever although this starts in High Schools especially in the South when schools were segregated, jackson state university is a predominantly black university in Jackson, Miss
@bkttkb32141 I didnt watch this partcular awards but the performance looked really good overall. I would guess that it was a tribute to Spike Lee from his movie "School Daze"
