The fact that you got the body of that sofa into your house BY YOURSELF deserves a huge pat on the back and a lovely drink. The fact that you then set it up, laid a rug under it by yourself and did a bit of styling should not be overlooked either. That is a super productive day!
Some of the many reasons people tune in to your videos is because you’re real and you show those watching that things don’t always go to plan but it’s how you deal with things that make a difference! Love love the couch! Well done Lucy!!!
Usually after a person has a good cry they become more determined so never apologize for cry! Also, you did amazing! Love how it’s all coming together!
Lucy, Let yourself be upset. Being a first time home owner is hard especially at our age. It is so impressive that you have gotten yourself into a home at this point in your life. I have made COUNTLESS mistakes when it comes to our first home. Things come up, no one tells you how to do these things. When we moved out of first home, we thought we had made a good profit, turns out there is a tax law in the US that if you live in the house for less that two years (we had lived there 20 months....) that you owe taxes on the profit of your home...We did not know this and owed over $5000 come tax season.... Like I said...things come up. You are DOING GREAT!
My hubby is a mechanical engineer & so he literally used trigonometry to figure out if our sofa would fit around the door. I laughed at the time - but seeing your videos makes me thank my lucky stars now!
...when asking a math teacher what the heck we would ever possibly use trigonometry for ...if only they'd given this answer some of us would've paid attention lol
I appreciate the realness of the complications of buying your first home. We struggled (and put all out money towards our first home) thinking we knew what we knew what we were getting into with a slight fixer upper and it was way more. But if it’s any consolation, 18 months in, everything is done 👍🏼. Also, Flo stole the show. She’s the cutest 😸
Oh Lucy sweetheart, I am so gutted for you! I felt tears in my eyes when you were upset. Please don't be too hard on yourself, you have had such a steep learning curve in your new nest, and you don't get a 'how to' manual along with the mortgage and the keys to the door. I think you and Adam have done incredibly well so far - remember, you are so young to be home-owners, and people far more experienced have made many a mistake. I am sending you big hugs and I can't believe you actually made it fit!🧡🧡
First of all.....Taking apart, putting together and setting up your sofa is totally BADASS (and on your period, no less)!!!!! You rocked it out and I love your determination! Your realness is what makes your channel so special. Never change, thanks for the inspiration. The house is coming along so beautifully and I love your taste. Having been a child in the 70's, I can honestly say, you have truly captured the vibe, but in a fresh modern way. Love it!!!!
Nearly 2 years in our first house and we've had many similar frustrations! Botching together flatpack wardrobes, getting paint where it shouldn't be, not having a bloody clue about gardening...it's all a learning curve! So worth it when it's done and really feels like your home. Well done for kicking the ass of the sofa drama!
me and my husband just bought a house and we actually painted our living room the color similar to your sofa! and our sofa is cream. so basically an inverted version of your living room haha! im in love with it.
Lucy I can’t believe how much of this diy stuff you just feckin do yourself! It’s amazing! I’m always watching thinking “oh you’ll need a second pair of hands for that”... nope!! Absolute hero!!
There is a huge upside to all of this strife, and that is growth! Every time you run into a bump, you’ve realized that A) it’s not the end of the world, B) you will feel better if you take action, and C) you can do this! It’s all very positive and healthy in the end and now you have knowledge and a sense of accomplishment. PLUS you had a perfect opportunity to drop a PIVOT quote into your personal history! And that’s the dream there. This is all so wonderful. Hugs to you.
Lucy, you're an absolute legend! Deconstructing, moving, and reconstructing a sofa all by yourself, well done you!! The living room looks amazing, I love the colour of the sofa!
I never comment on youtube videos, but I have to say - this was fucking inspirational. Seriously, I don't know what I would have done in your situation, but you just had a good cry and then got on with it, taught yourself how to dismantle a freaking sofa, and even managed to have a good laugh about the whole thing. And now you have a beautiful living room because you were so badass and didn't give up! I was smiling like an idiot when you got the sofa in and then when it was all ready. I'm literally gonna watch this video when I feel like giving up on something and I need some motivation. Absolute hero.
Oh mate, crying with you despite already having seen the insta post knowing all ends well! It's very justified frustration and absolutely heartbreaking seeing you going through the tough times xx
Just got to the part where the sofa made it into the living room and I'm genuinely so proud of your and your girl power that I burst into tears! Slightly awkward. What an absolute trooper you are.
the title didn't lie this really was a rollercoaster of emotions. i was genuinely so stressed when you said you were deconstruct it, i was honestly expecting some sort of frankenstein's monster style disaster where you just showed us the sofa in pieces BUT that wasn't the case!! you can now add sofa constructing to your CV
The first thing I thought as a mom was that you needed a huge hug...poor baby. And as a mom sooo proud of you for your sticking to it and dis-assembling and reassembling. You are such a champ😍 just goes to show when you’re determined, nothing can stop you. Been there too. We bought a sleeper sofa for the new baby’s room and were renting in an older home. That monster would not fit through the tiny hallway door much less the hall or the bedroom door, so back it went. Being a grown up is a bitch, but we gotta do it! It looks fabulous❤️❤️❤️👌🏻👍🏻
Moving is such an awful thing to go through for anyone, hang in there. Really appreciate you vlogging through it, it’s nice to see that it’s hard for everyone! 💕
I'm not someone who typically comments on youtube videos, but... LUCY! You did that ALL BY YOURSELF! I hope you're freaking proud, because you should be!!! I was honestly inspired.
wow you should be proud of yourself for handling all of that so well. i think the floral rug looks amazing under the couch, the texture and pattern work so well with the wood and the velvet
Lucy your are so fabulous. I am having an emotional day too and legit started crying when the delivery driver said it didnt fit. You are so resilient and I'm so proud you got the sofa in 💚 it will come together keep on being awesome
Girl I literally teared up with you. I totally understand things not going according to plan..time after time. I felt & completely understood your frustration. But you were strong and you pulled yourself together and you got $*!÷ done! And I was clapping and cheering you on! I absolutely LOVE the sofa btw! Gorgeous!
Omg you soooo MacGyverd the sofa!!! Holly mother of sofa 🛋 👸🏼 queen! I can’t believe you took it apart and put it back together. You are my hero. Not kidding. Also crying is okay and good. I adore your new sofa! The colour is beautiful!!!!!! It looks so cozy. Sending you love and hugs. ❤️❤️❤️
We moved in the same day as you and Adam, we have had nothing but endless problems very similar to you, all my fences blew down in storm Dennis, boiler stopped working, no Sofa for weeks, but instead of beanbags my mom lent us her blow up sofa bed which we also slept on for a few nights too until the bed arrived. This was because I couldn't get my bed frame from my mom's house into my new house, it's constant stress and very emotional at times, but Dory always reminds us to just keep swimming! I love your moving vlogs very relatable for me right now x
I love the what’s for tea sign in the kitchen. That is definitely the slogan of our house! And a nice little touch of up north in yours. You did so well with the sofa!
I felt that frustration cry so hard. Then cheered when you got the arm off and did a full standing ovation clap when you finished it! Well done!! It looks amazing. Also, ‘took Swoon twelve weeks’ 😂
Aww Lucy, bless you. Owning a house is hard and trust me nothing is ever straight forward with an old house. Just remember it’s the quirks that give your house it’s charm. It will come together and will be worth all the struggles xxx keep smiling, love your vlogs
I really appreciate that she showed us what went wrong and that she got emotional about it. Because that’s very human and most people experience that one way or an other!
Loved the video. Loved your new hairstyle. Loved the sofa. Loved the honesty behind the struggle of renovating a home. You both are doing a good job. It will take a while but in the end the satisfaction of having created a home is far greater than the struggle. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Great job with the sofa - you are one patient person. It looks really good with the rug, table, floor, etc. Can't believe someone chose those curtains! Looking forward to seeing what you choose, as everything looks lovely so far.
The sofa is beautiful!!! And wow the relatability of crying when stressed with stuff like this. Youre doing amazing honestly, everything looks lovely. Owning a home is hard but you and Adam ate true homeowner goals
The relief I feel for you must be nothing compared to how you felt. Thank you for being so raw and genuine in this vlog and enjoy lounging on the sofa! ❤
The sofa looks so good! I love the rug too. Massively impressed with your determination to get it inside. I like that these moving vlogs aren't perfect, they're showing the reality of being a first time homeowner and make me feel better about the little things that have been going wrong for us as recent first time home buyers too.
This video is the motivational speech I didn't know I needed. This is so much more meaningful than watching everything fall perfectly into place. Me and my future mood swings thank you. 💕
I FELT this. As a woman who has sat in the floor crying because I couldn’t fit a new sofa up the stairs into my new place, I totally understand. So proud of you for working it out!
Having a bit of a rough time lately, and this is a definite bright spot. The sofa looks amazing, so glad you managed to get it in. You did a damn good job at getting it in on your own I also really like the rug, it tones in with the yellow cushion really well. It just looks good to me
I bought a home a couple of years ago and the happiness that you feel first is astounding which is quickly followed by the stress from all the things you don’t know. I’ve learned to do so many things that I never thought I would learn. Let’s see. 1) Replaced the roof bc of course it needed replacing. ... I didn’t do this because welp I’m not certified tehe... everything else I did myself or had some help. 2) Replaced the drain underneath my shower stall because of course it popped off... the hell. Those do that. Yes, yes they do. Also had to replace insulation and floorboards because of it. 3) Replaced kitchen sink faucet. 4) Oh and I had to replace the garbage disposal as well as the PVC pipes. 5) Installed laminate flooring... the carpet was disgusting and my family friend knew how to so we did it together. This is the reason I now own proper knee pads. Industrial knee pads. Everyone should own industrial knee pads. Oh and install darker floors because light floors will always look dirty. 😑😐 6) Installed stove hood because of course it worked during inspection but conked out the first couple of weeks I lived here. 🙃 That’s all the big things let’s not even talk about the small things.... I think the best part because there is is learning how to do these things. Yes, it probably took me longer than it would have taken someone I paid to do it but I learned and it was free besides the cost of parts. It’s crazy empowering knowing I can do it. Knowing I can learn how. Just do it. And have yourself a cry when something happens because you’ll figure out how to fix it, get it fixed, or figure out whatever it needs. Long and winded but yea. You got this Lucy!
I love the new sofa, the rug and the way you styled it. I am so impressed with your ability to tackle that sofa disassembly, moving inside, and reassembly. Awesome work!
Lucy, I was in the exact same position as you a few years ago when we bought our first house. Everything we tried to do to make it more homely resulted in a new problem which cost us more money. I cried every time anyone asked me how the new house was. I felt so silly as I should’ve been happy I finally got on the property ladder... but it still didn’t stop the tears! Anyway, long story short, completely at home here now and have been for several years :)
Lucy, you don’t need to apologise for getting upset. It’s refreshing to see someone on UA-cam being real. So great that you turned a 💩 situation in to a positive end result. Sofa looks fab! Well done you! Xx 😚
I am so addicted to these vlogs loving it all. We are moving in to our house in may but currently renovating it all, its so refreshing to see the reality of what its like. It aint easy 😩😂 thank you for being so raw and honest as always. Flo is the cutest ☺️❤️
An actual inspiration to all, have a cry about it then pull yourself together and come up with a solution on how to deal and handle the situation - amazing Lucy, massive well done to you 💪🏻💖 and the sofa looks great!
I’ve cried more times than I can count since we bought our house, simply through frustration. Don’t worry about being dramatic, we’re allowed to be when we’ve spent a crazy amount of money on some bricks and mortar and want it to feel like home! Love the sofa, wish we’d gone for green now! 💚
First off you should be so proud of yourself for doing that! And also this video was so relatable, this is exactly how I would have reacted. I too would of had a mini break down and then pulled myself together and figured out a solution. So this video gets a big thumbs up for being the most accurate and real renovation blog I’ve ever seen!💕
Loved this video! Love that you’re being so honest about the highs and lows of buying a house 👍🏻 was rooting for ya when you were tackling the sofa! Girl power!! 💪🏻 xx
Oh Lucy I can't begin to tell you how much I felt the near-meltdown... But I am so impressed!! Would never wish for you to go through these struggles but not only are you so relatable, you're also incredible!! So chuffed for you and your beautiful sofa
We're in the middle of renovations and I've cried pretty much everyday. I feel your pain and feel like we've had some set back at every single stage of the process, not to mention living on a building site! As you say, first world problems and I try to have a word with myself - we're incredibly privileged to own a home let alone be putting in a new kitchen and bathroom. But it's been so frustrating, messy, intrusive and uncomfortable so I allow myself a little cry then take a deep breath and get on with it. Xxx
I nearly cried with you while I was watching this, we have been renovating our house for nearly 6 years (originally a 2 year project) and we have also had a few hiccups along the way to say the very least, the disappointment and frustration is so upsetting so I feel ya girl. You are killing it, you should be so proud of yourself, you are inspiring me to get my shit together xxx
The sofa is lush well done you for figuring it out! Also the irony an advert for sofas cut in just as you were upset about yours not fitting and then as you were counting down to one fir the reveal another advert cut in!
My sofas, all 3 of them had to come in amd out of my windows. Luckily they open outwards so it is dead easy. I live in an Edwardian Terrace house and there is so little space between the hall wall and the stairs balustrading, there is no way a sofa could come in that way.
Been there hun. Been 👏 there 👏. My house is a 1930s ex council, it is the most cooky weird wonky house and I've had all these problems you're having too. Just let it out lovely, have a good cry when these things happen. Don't bottle it up and don't feel like you shouldn't be crying. The frustration is real, I totally get it xx
Lucy: Adulting, am I right? Deep breaths my friend! Soon you will look back, while you sit on your cool couch, and think about how you overcame all these troubles!!love ya! Greetings from Missouri, US!
Bless you, I would have been sobbing! Well done for getting it in there, looks so cosy now 😊 Also seeing flo rub herself on you during the shoulder cuddle melted my heart 😍🐱 I really need another cat in my life 🤗xxx
Oh my goodness, I feel your pain. Me and my husband bought our house about the same time as you and theres been so many tears. Nothing has gone right and like you were had rethink alot, which has hugely upset my vision for our home. You make me laugh at how determined you are to do things yourself and not wait around for the man of the house haha. I'm the same I have zero patience and when I've waited so long I refuse to wait that extra few hours for a helping hand I just get stuck in. I've followed you for a while now and you have such an infectious personality always makes me smile... I'm really enjoying all your content and as for rugs check out ikea they had an amazing hand stitched rug made from all kinds of different squares of old rugs!!! Bit pricey but so amazingly unique.
Oh shit! What a day for you😣 I did the same thing, ordered a couch from Ikea, double checked all the measurements, did not think about the ceiling height at all! Ended up having to pay the delivery guys extra to hoist it up to the 3rd floor and over the balcony! Needless to say it was a total shit show and well worth it; I still own it and am laying on it right now ☺ Love the sofa and the new floors.
Lucy extraordinaire, that was quite an accomplishment, taking apart, hauling in and putting the sofa together again!!! Fabulous job and the room looks spectacular!
Go Lucy!!! You went from being devastated to excited!! You did it!! Hey, if you can dismantle a sofa, you can do/face anything !! BTW Lovely sofa!! Love the coffee table too! & must mention ..Love all the Flo shots.
i've been more excited about this sofa for these past couple of months than anything else in my entire life. it looks fantastic and i'm so proud that you were just like IM GONNA TAKE IT APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!
Well done Hun for getting it in the house. I have been there but I just sat and cried!! The sofa looks amazing!!! Just a tip from a person who bought a house a few years ago pull the sofa out of the sun slightly or put the throw over the back in the day as my sofa faded in the sun (don't know if it would affect that material) and I was gutted 😭. Your house looks amazing and I love watching your vlogs
06:50 "Really polished and well thought out.." just look at your beautiful bedroom with the peach wall and the amazing floor in your living room. Everything is coming together beautifully :) but it is stressful work, I can relate completely :)
Bless you Lucy. We have all been there with the 'it doesn't fit' and the frustrated crying. Completely understand and you have had a lot on your plate to deal with! So impressed that you got on and managed to overcome it and it does look beautiful. I think the rug looks great with it too! You are doing so well it is getting there! Just felt I wanted to show you some love and say well done you! Xxx
Well done!! I'm seriously impressed with your skills. And honestly after waiting 12 weeks to see this sofa, I would have been disappointed if it hadn't been this dramatic 😉
Love your "moving" vlogs ♥️ It's good to see you tackling your challenges head on and being all this girl can! Instead of waiting for Adam or someone else who knows how to fix that sort of stuff! xx
The fact that you got the body of that sofa into your house BY YOURSELF deserves a huge pat on the back and a lovely drink. The fact that you then set it up, laid a rug under it by yourself and did a bit of styling should not be overlooked either. That is a super productive day!
Definitely!!
Lucy saying "I'm on my period" while crying may be the single most relatable thing I've ever seen on UA-cam
Some of the many reasons people tune in to your videos is because you’re real and you show those watching that things don’t always go to plan but it’s how you deal with things that make a difference! Love love the couch! Well done Lucy!!!

So proud of you for dismantling that sofa and getting it set up! I would have had a meltdown and resorted to having the lounge in the garden :')
Awh dude just wanted to hug you at that sofa bit. ❤ that looked frustrating as hell.
You're and absolute legend for doing it though!

Lucy, you're an absolute legend! Deconstructing, moving, and reconstructing a sofa all by yourself, well done you!! The living room looks amazing, I love the colour of the sofa!
The emotional roller-coaster here. The crying, the triumph, the staple gun situation, hanger. Love it.
I loved Flo’s energy in this, every time you were doing something she saw her opportunity to steal the spotlight like hey 😺😺😺

We did the exact same! With our beds, sofas and dining room table.
There should be a how to make a home buying easy by a more adulty adult 😂
That pivot segment had me in tears 😂 looks awesome! ❤️❤️
I love that you’re the kind of girl that knows how to use tools and takes apart a sofa!

I think a Persian style rug would look amazing with that sofa!
I think you are an absolute warrior for getting that sofa in and not giving up - congratulations! It looks brilliant :-)
When you said “we will just make it work” I wanted to shout GO ON GIRL!!!!!!!! So glad things worked out 💪🏼
The sofa is beautiful!!! And wow the relatability of crying when stressed with stuff like this. Youre doing amazing honestly, everything looks lovely. Owning a home is hard but you and Adam ate true homeowner goals

That’s all the big things let’s not even talk about the small things....
I felt your frustration and teared up with you. So glad you were able to sort it out. Like all Disney princess movies, your tale had a happy ending
Flo is the cutest ☺️❤️
am Living for the Flo content in this video
My god woman you are amazing! I'd still be in a ball on the floor rocking and crying
Lucy, this is genuinely upsetting so dont apologize for crying, I would have too and in fact I was crying with you. The sofa is super beautiful
A persian rug would look amazing! Cannot believe you did that all on your own. Reno queen!
I love the rug in the sitting room actually it look gorgeous!
Don’t feel bad. This isn’t out first time and this house we are in now is kicking our butts!! So I totally feel for you.
Also I think the rug looks amazing! I think it creates a subtle accent and pulls the room together!!! Also I love Flo 😭❤️
Seeing you so upset gave me such a heavy heart, but you did it. You didn't give up and it looks amazing. Stay on the sofa and reward yourself😊
Doesn't it fit through the window?😅
exactly :D
Only if you take the window out 😳
Yeah, my thoughts!
Romy sews or maybe open them? 😀
My sofas, all 3 of them had to come in amd out of my windows. Luckily they open outwards so it is dead easy. I live in an Edwardian Terrace house and there is so little space between the hall wall and the stairs balustrading, there is no way a sofa could come in that way.
You are such a superstar! I would have been bawling my eyes out after everything you have been through with the house.
Cue a collective sigh of relief that Lucy and Adam FINALLY have their sofa.
Bless you, I would have been sobbing! Well done for getting it in there, looks so cosy now 😊
Also seeing flo rub herself on you during the shoulder cuddle melted my heart 😍🐱 I really need another cat in my life 🤗xxx
Pls keep the rug it looks so good!!! Well done to you gal for soldiering through and getting that done !!! X
I’m so glad you had Flo there to give you so much love on a bad day! And the sofa is beautiful!
I loooooove that urban outfitters rug in the living room. It works so well 😍
i've been more excited about this sofa for these past couple of months than anything else in my entire life. it looks fantastic and i'm so proud that you were just like IM GONNA TAKE IT APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!
3...2...1.... Advert... Nowhere near as lovely as the sofa! Hats off to you Lucy! Amazing job with a beautiful sofa :)
Flo kills me with how cute she is. Such a wee poser. Currently trying to adopt a kitty of our own! The vlogs are all the better for being real!
Well done on the deconstruction!!! I would have cried too. Girls can do DIY!! Love it xx
This happened to me!! I cried so badly as I was so frustrated and scared I’d wasted so much money!! All worked out in the end! Lovely sofa xx
I’m honestly SO impressed that you sorted the sofa situation on your own
06:50
"Really polished and well thought out.." just look at your beautiful bedroom with the peach wall and the amazing floor in your living room.
Love your "moving" vlogs ♥️
It's good to see you tackling your challenges head on and being all this girl can! Instead of waiting for Adam or someone else who knows how to fix that sort of stuff! xx
