Preaching to that 4-5 workflow and the milestones. I started making music this year around may after going on and off for years never finishing a track because of time, never letting go, getting dopamine hits by showing a quarter of the beat to friends. Now I got "lucky" im in a situation where Im in another country, in a city were I dont have any friends, no job, where theres a 12 hr difference with my home country so no speaking to friends or family there during active hours, basically very lonely. But I've been using this time to go to make music to the library on my laptop. I spend around 5-6 hours there working non stop and so far im proud to say I've released 4 songs on soundcloud, have enough backlog to post 1 every 2 weeks for another two months and I can tell that the quality of my music is getting better and better with each release. Huge motivating factor was finishing my first track ever. A milestone I celebrated and then moved to the next one. Another song. Then another genre. Then another techniche. Now last week I got paid my first dollar for streams! My next goal is to get 1000 plays on one song. Im so excited to be part of this community and keep growing as an artist, as I feel there's so much to learn and improve.Thank you guys for sharing your knowledge
hey man Ben here love hearing about your progress keep grinding transforming challenging times into an advantage is life stuff you'll look back on these times with pride
loving the energy guys, you bounce off each other so well, grateful for this type of content and looking feared to what is to come!! Would be great to hear a convo on what you would be doing if starting out now and the importance of location for emerging artists!!
How blessed we are to hear two massive talents talking about their perspectives 🧠 This is pure gold ~ thank you to an all time legend and an upcoming one, for sharing all this wisdom with us 🪩📕

This was really interesting, I found insightful to hear how they finish tracks and also how they were helped by community members on distribution/expansion at the early stage of their career. Beautiful and looking forward to hear many more! Merci la mif
@@dojo_music Yes I do! But when I'm producing I rarely feel the vibe of what I wrote down in the past, so I always try to play it on the guitar or keyboard and just record on my phone.
@@dojo_music I loved Ben quote which was like "if you copy from one person you're plagiarizing but if you copy from different persons you"re being creative" haha I also have the same main issue like the one had William, which is finding "your" sound, I also think diving more into synthesis is the perfect answer for it ! Honestly all subjects were very interesting ! I also found really reassuring what you said about the feeling of "not being productive" that we can all have. I really like the idea of seeing it more like "yes you"re being productive just not maybe for the things you had in mind for now" :)
Really love this! Awesome set up and content from big talents, i´m waiting the next episode, we are going to learn a lot from this, thank you guys! greetings from Canary Islands, Spain.
@@dojo_music I'll tell you some of the ideas that could be interesting, thank you guys! -how to send professionally submit a track to a big labels -Production tricks & tips -Interviews with other artist, I would love to see perspectives from great artists like East End Dubs, Chris Stussy, Anotr and moore. -Exclusive sets for Dojo Podcast -Track feedback
@@dojo_music Collaborations, remixes, VA, Self productions or opening your own label. Is many collaborations actually help you to grow and spray your name or would you better focus on your own production and release more of your sound? Or Would it be more efficient to get to grow your name by releasing on many VA, or accepting Remixes. Or perhaps opening your own label could actually be the most efficient way to gain visibility?
@@dojo_music The creativity section. Years back I had a similar thought process and sometimes roadblock of trying to make a track sound exactly like it is in my head vs what it actually wants to be naturally. I eventually adapted and got around this by recording voice memos of melodies that I could later emulate into my DAW without the fear of changing any key element of it if needed. This allowed me to take a hybrid approach by giving myself the freedom to embrace change when the time came in the creative process.
It seems so overwhelming. does anyone have any good videos for someone who is looking to start music production but knows absolutely nothing about it. thanks
On DOJO William is hosting a course where he takes you through the absolute fundamentals of music production with Ableton (Initial setup, user interface, how to create your first loop, your first track, etc), you'll find the signup link in this channels description, we'll notify you as soon as we go live, which will be late summer/early fall💪
Parallel to great points and guidance, that jumper is so cool!! 🔥
Pure class
Thanks!!
