As always another enlightening podcast from james and guest. I learn so much from these interviews. Little breeding and cultivation and history nuggets hidden in every episode!
NorCal is one of the nicest guys I’ve come across on instagram. He not only has one of the best senses of humor, but he also has some good advice. Like 6 months ago I wanted a hoodie, was moving and couldn’t afford what he was asking. Anyway I bought a T-shirt, and he dropped a hoddie in with it. That seems to be his character, a nice dude who holds some of the illeat cuts in the game. He also has been one of the most approachable breeders I’ve come across.
Yep the old school sea of green we referred to back up north in humboldt was 99 plants in 1 gals under 4 1ks hps thrown down in a 12x12 room and getting about 8 pounds of sour or gdp then came the og but this was in early 2000s maybe 03 04 and hell ya we where getting 5500 sometimes 4800 just depended on how the batch came out and how high the demand was at the time but even our out door sours and urkles where getting 3800 all day long sold before they where even harvested and we’d end up selling our work then buying a couple hundred more from our family members or buddies to sell because the buyers couldn’t get enough they would take as many as you could possibly get and pay top dollar. Fuck I miss those good ol days man
You Cali dudes have it made, I’d love to have that much variety to improve my scent memory bank. 1998 I hermed out a bunch of lemon skunk baking in a closet with a 1000 watt hps😂 almost had a fire until I bought an outdoor timer. I had a bag seed around 2006 that smelled like juicy fruit gum, I thought I was clever calling it juicy fruit until I realized that was a strain already. Always learning, love the show.
I was the 1st to take the dosido & the gelato to the state of Nevada & sold a tray of clones for a small little fortune back in 2017. If anybody was growing or smoking on those 2 strains around that time in LasVegas Nevada you’re welcome 😉
Hell ya the real deal old school sour d that you could smell a mug from a block away was a 12 week flowering cut for sure! Any less than that you just don’t get the density and yield out of it. That’s why a lot of guys that weren’t high level growers hated growing sour and always said it doesn’t yield shit and it’s airy fluffy bud and it’s like ya bro because you need to run it all the way out until it’s done and in the last week of flower you get the majority of density out of your buds, they really tighten up right at the end. That’s one of the few cultivars that I leave in the dark for 48 hours before harvest, just to tighten up those buds a little more.
I used to get the dankest durban out in Denver that even the bho and cuttings smelled like the flower it was amazing and to this day one that I wish I held on to because I’ve never seen another durban that’s even come close
There's nothing on the east coast we haven't ran through out here in California 😂😅.. You guys buy genetics from out west and relable em just like Canada, Amsterdam, ect... Mass super skunk wasn't even from mass 😂😂😂😂.. it cane from Colorado.. I'll say it again. No black haze out here hecause we started the haze in the 70's in Santa cruz ca.. look up "the haze bros" we done had it before everyone and passed it on lol.

West coast is the birthplace of haze back in the 60’s/70’s. CA moved on to way better things like the Chronic & the Kush
Piff Coast Genetics is a beast for helping us spread the legit Piff Haze's
