Me and my dad found this song last year on the way back from the cinema on Christmas Eve. We will know be going back to the cinema and will listen to this on the way back home. We love how he gets progressively drunker as the song goes on
Bill is a great guy-saw him perform this at Oakley Miners Social Club,Fife, when I was in the Dance Band.He could have played this one song and justified his fee as half the audience were rolling helplessly about the floor and the other half were greetin' wi' laughter.Happy Days indeed!
Love this song my wee brother frae Glasgow introduced me to this superb song Even though I'm now 4 years teetotal Thanks Bill and every one who made it possible Happy memories Merry Christmas all
I can't imagine Christmas without this song, it's become an instution in its own right. I can remember Richard Thorburn rounding off his Saturday rock show on Radio Borders with this, perhaps the only time that Bill Barclay has become a rock star!
Well done on a fine editing job! This has been a staple Christmas song in my mum's house for the last 35-ish years. It still raises a smile whenever it's put on!
I am so glad I can finally find this on UA-cam. It gets played regularly around Christmas time on Radio Borders down here, and it's probably my favourite Christmas song. Of course it's difficult to share it with folks on forums when it isn't on UA-cam or a similar type of site. So good to finally see it. So, what are the 10 different drinks he has? Because I still cannot pick up all of the names properly.
a wee heavy and a half pint 2 nips of gin 3 black and tans 4 baby chams 5 happy days 6 carlsberg specials 7 rum and cokes 8 nips of whisky 9 vodkas and lime 10 creme de menthes 11 blue lagoons 12 alka seltzers
I mind hearing this on Moray Firth Radios "Late Night Phone In" slot a few years back. The host Steve Allen played it once or twice. So funny, great to hear it again.
I booked Bill in the early seventies when i used to run a folk club and he was hilarious and a real genleman. Along with Hamish Imlach the two were the best acts i had the privelidge to employ. superamos31
On the twelfth day of Christmas, My true love sent to me Twelve Alka Selzers, Eleven Blue Lagoons, Ten creme de menthes, Nine vodka'n'limes, Eight nips of whisky, Seven rum & cokes, Six Carlsberg specials, Five Happy Days, Four Baby chams, Three black and tans, Two nips of gin, And a wee heavy and a half pint!
