I wouldn't say its the most important, but its helpful :) Just like all of the techniques mentioned. In regards to your question, I'm actually not aware of this because I've ever tested with that before. I don't want to try and answer and guide you in the wrong direction. I think its something worth testing out though!

Weight loss is very broad. Niche topics would be things like specific diets, workout plans, things like that.

Yes it's still helpful to write them yourself :) Studies have shown that sites with optimized metadata are more likely to rank.
