    Love to see other drivers stopping and making sure their colleagues are alright. Great to see such camaraderie.

      Absolutely. You don't see it much in most forms of Motorsports, as in many of the competitions they run in, it's actually a disqualification to the driver for "breaking the harness" (seatbelt) or, sometimes, both breaking the harness and existing the vehicle, when the vehicle you're in isn't in danger or involved in a serious accident (for example, you're not on fire) all these things and more, can get you disqualified in some brands of Motorsports.

      @nyftn
      No, it's certainly not the safest of ideas, but it is quite understandable on a human level.
      But I must add that I mostly attend the Speedway, and I only ever used to go to Oran Park Raceway every once in a blue moon, but I as I said, I'm mostly a Speedway fan.
      Now, about the only time you will see someone actually leave a vehicle to assist with a crash, is with the "full course red," or, more commonly, in the Motorcycle classes (Solo and Sidecars) you'll find it occurs far more often in those divisions, probably because of just the fact that their on bikes and not strapped in a car.

      You're absolutely right. Lives have been lost in the past because of well-meaning fellow competitors who've seen a horrific incident, and their natural human instincts overrides their better nature takes them over and they will get straight out of their own car in an effort to give assistance to a fellow competitor, even if it's a foolhardy attempt.

      RULE # 1 - CONTROL TOWER TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO.
      If limbs and internal organs are seen then you can use your best judgment.
      Other than that, you are a radio controlled robot.
      One reason. Turns.
      You think it’s safe, but control tower knows more than you do, you have to resist the urge.

    It is completely unacceptable for that car to slam into the sideways car at the top of the mountain after so much time had passed since he spun. Where's the flags? Where is his team telling him he needs to be tight to the left side of the road through there? It's a known issue with sideways cars there and it has to stop.

    • @Poepvinger030
      @Poepvinger030 День тому +1

      There actually wasn’t that much time, probably 15 to 20 seconds. Communication and footage aren’t as advanced as in higher categories, and visibility in that part of the track is bad.

    • @SomeYouTubeGuy
      @SomeYouTubeGuy День тому

      @@Poepvinger030 I fail to see why you would want to make excuses for this. There was more than enough time for race control to throw a full course yellow and for all following drivers teams to contact them on the radio. We've seen drivers die right there in that location from exactly that type of crash.

      The problem is actually more likely to be tyres. Gt3 is a spec series with a control tyre. It sacrifices grip for longevity, and that's ok on most tracks but Bathurst is a different beast.

    Modern real world motorsport looks so easy...until the driver is only 99% accurate. Then everything falls apart very quickly. Back in the old days, the cars were much, much more forgiving - you could be far less accurate and have much slower reflexes but the only things that would suffer as a result would be lap times and tyre wear.
