Apologies folks, looks like a couple minutes of scene setting fell out of the video. If you're confused by the jump at around 5 minutes in here's a quick intro - The crew are haulers working for Wayland Yutani, they followed a distress beacon to see a small colony on an icy planet in complete disarray and destruction. We jump straight into the action as the gang are fleeing back to their ship being chased by creatures unknown!
Weyland Yutani. Also what is 'in complete disarray and destruction' the small colony or the icy planet? English isn't hard, it's your first language so you have no excuse for this.
If you split the party to go in a vent, you are begging the cinematic logic to either: force you to make a dramatic, but sapping escape from a combat you can't win; or red-shirt you. Wheels was very kind.
What's up with the smash cut at 5:25 ish? Edit: From later context, they're on their way to some place to deliver cargo, when they receive a distress signal from some other place, a quiet settlement on a frozen planet. While they're there, they meet some woman, who gets nibbled by the titular alien, and they all bravely run away.
Davis is like The Flash. In the time it takes the others to step through and close a door, she's made it to the bridge, taken off and returned to them.
1:00:45 I was honestly expecting Boris, I mean Wilson, to say something about "the company will not be held liable if you continue working in your current state of injury!"😅
Johnny channeling Boris Johnson into Wilson was a brilliant move. Lovely sly references to the odious toad were a nice touch too. 3-5 children. Brilliant.
Next time I see our cat Mai Tai looking bug eyed when she's under her scratching post and someone approaches her, I'm going to think of Matt Jarvis cowering under the stairs.
I think I've finally gotten used to watching your live plays, I didn't try to figure out who the guest star was, just squinted past the wig to confirm that was Lollies (not sure of my spelling). Thanks as always for sharing your game, the fun character work and the costumes :)
I am watching this for the first time, TWO YEARS later. And I am still caught by surprise when Johnny does not introduce himself as "everyone else in the world"! XD
So, right when Wheels says that they are deciding what to do with the face-hugged crew member (Cham?), my immediate thought was to stuff him in a cryo pod. It just seems like a bad idea to try to deal with an unknown parasite without the proper equipment, so just freeze it for later.
I have blueprints of the Nostromo and there are more than 3 decks...including large equipment bays needed to house repair and support vehicles which are briefly seen in the first movie... In the uncut version of alien for example you see Ripley descending on a ladder to the Medical deck that is supposed to be on deck A... If she is above that level then the med bay is on a deck lower than the bridge level...as that is where she was when Ash broke quarantine... so I assume that she climbed down from level A to B and Lambert smacked her...(in the directors cut) If you watch the movie there are several air locks one is on the ventral area near the landing strut and the alien makes its nest in one of the cavernous landing strut bays... Then you have all the incredibly long hallways. I can understand for a roll playing mechanic to simplify such a schematic... but and extensive layout would make a more intense session imho...
Currently designing my own Cinematic scenario whilst listening to this play through! Hopefully one day I will have it be published and I could give it to you guys for free and signed to be played on this channel! :3
This was briliant and I'd love to see more of it from you guys. :) Then again, I'd also like to see you play more Cyberpunk 2020/Red as that was an awesome one-shot too.

Hi guys, I've never played a ttrpg everrr! But after watching this video I emediatly bought the core rule book (and coriolis and tale from the loop). But any ways, I'm looking forward to actually play this game. Could you help me out where to find some player/platform? Thanks in advance, all the way from Amsterdam. Cheers Menno
I thought the Space Beans were a Chekhov's gun, that the crew would scoff dozens of tins and wait around vents bent over facing away from them and with their trousers down with lit matches at hand....
I'm surprised they kept the guy with the facehugger as long as they did! My FIRST reaction would be to incinerate the damn thing, regardless of whether or not it was attached to someone 😂
That was fun(-ish), except for the captain abandoning everyone to crawl around the vents-- very surprised that that actually worked out. Also no idea whatsoever how Wilson could have kept Chams safe, since 1) either it would have blown up the ship, or 2) the crew would (very naturally) stop it from blowing up the ship, which would most likely kill it. So poor Johnny's secret mission seems doomed from the start :-( . I kinda liked the story of the cinematic campaign, in that it was pretty coherent, but it was kinda linear and left little room for roleplay, which kinda seemed to throw the crew off a little. That makes sense, but I wish it had felt a little more "choose your own adventure" in some sense, so that characters had more chance to interact in more unexpected ways, even within the strictures of a more linear campaign mode. I would like to see if the RPG mode plays any better; this (of course) is a very cool environment, full of exciting possibilities. Thanks for playing, Dicebreaker!
I'm obviously late to the party, but I think they're playing a greatly reduced version of the module Chariot of the Gods. The characters are from that, at least - as are many of the broad strokes
Does anyone know what the background music is? Seems really well suited for this RPG and I wanna start GMing it soon so having that running in the background would be great :)
good game, though the cigarette I felt should have done something if not just cause a wiggle, as they are notable weak against fire. wouldn't expect it to do damage per say or remove it, but at least hint to them fire is good to use, the chars were played great as well. two facehuggers up for wilson , had me dying. davis for sure should have had to do a close combat for jumping on and grappling the android, damage or not grapple, block, disarm, all close combat.
Fun to listen to, but the rules seem to be out the window here in terms of fast/slow actions per player turn and any passing of time as outlined by the core rules.
No relation to the video whatsoever beyond Free League's involvement, but it'd be great to see an actual play for Symbaroum, I know Johnny mentioned it before but said that he hadn't ran it yet and that was enough to get me to check it out and get it
I would also like a playthrough. Free League RPGs seem really cool to me. Not really a big Medieval Fantasy guy, but Symbaroum is really interesting to me (and I can't really put my finger on it)

Idea for a cinematic scenario: Basically one of the character's wins a trip to beautiful Floston Paradise. Yeah, just rip off the ship from Fifth Element. Of course an overweight obnoxious NPc with glasses and short curly hair who has an annoying laugh, and seems nervous has smuggled some eggs, and already hatched chestbursters in stast in his luggage. A rival corporate pirate force attacks the ship, hijinks ensue. The characters are: 1) A retired cargo hauler, they finished the big haul and got their big payout and are now rich and set for life, so of course the first thing they want to do is go on a luxurious pleasure cruise, 2) The baggage handler, you were once a skilled member of corporate security, too good in fact and you discovered a corproate douchenozzle smuggling drugs, and so you got demoted and are now the baggage handler on this pleaasure cruise full of rich douchnozzles, oh and you became addicted to the drug you found cause why not. 3) extreme sport vacationer, you are going to Floston Paradise to do cliff diving, deep scuba, and other vacation action sports. Your character has the appropriate skills and equipment for these activities with them. 4) renegade news reporter here to snoop around and do an expose on all the shady stuff that happens behind the scenes on pleasure cruises.
I loved the 2 Alien movies (yes, there were only two! Maybe 2 1/2 😜) and was excited about the game coming out. To me, unfortunately, Free Leagues recycled system combined with their cookie-cutter layout and structure this game was a let-down. No accounting for taste I guess... But I really, really wanted to like it. Alienverse has such potential. But I still look forward to see Dicebreaker play this. The crew are haulers working for Wayland Yutani, they followed a distress beacon to see a small colony on an icy planet in complete disarray and destruction. We jump straight into the action as the gang are fleeing back to their ship being chased by creatures unknown!
The true horror is the known creature, Bojo, in their midst. 😂
Thank you for this, I was very confused as to the time skip
I did wonder!
Weyland Yutani. Also what is 'in complete disarray and destruction' the small colony or the icy planet? English isn't hard, it's your first language so you have no excuse for this.
I knew that.
I knew that!
"They call you an asset to the company as well?"
"No they call me Wilson"
HE DID NOT HESITATE
Johnny, I appreciate the role play. I despise the character, you played
Wilson gives me pretty heavy Boris Johnson vibes.
Believe that is the intention based on the reaction of the others
I wasn't sure if it was him or David Cameron, given the "better together" reference
@@MichaelWarman The stuttering and accent is too much Boris Johnson to be anyone else in my mind.
Yep, that is definitely Bojo. Frighteningly well done, Johnny.
Exceedingly, and just as bumblingly incompetent, corporate, and selfish...😅
Lolies tactic seemed to be similar to her Alien Isolation experience: Hide and hope the trouble just goes away
If you split the party to go in a vent, you are begging the cinematic logic to either: force you to make a dramatic, but sapping escape from a combat you can't win; or red-shirt you. Wheels was very kind.
alex's costumes are always on point.
They're coming out of the goddamn Walls!
Why are the Dicebreaker crew in my walls? 🤔
Nuke them from orbit, its the only way to be sure.
I'm disappointed Johnny's nuke it in orbit comment didn't get any reaction.
It was a bit of a stretch
I was keeping a straight face through Johnny’s Johnsoning until his ‘between three and five children’, that broke me.

I was wondering if they lost video.....
So did they just not have the video for that section or is it somewhere else in the video. Don't want to watch on as I don't want spoilers.
@@isaacluna308 No, it's just gone. I suspect they cut it for brevity, perhaps?
Sadly not the first time there’s been weird cuts/edits on a dicebreaker RPG video :-(
Its not when Johnny went to answer the door? Maybe he took a long time.
According to the name tag logic, the character of Wheels is played by the Dicebreaker member Game Master.
His parents named him well.
Damn. Good catch.
I feel like wheels would definitely sneakily rename himself “Game Master”
Wow this couldn't have come at a better time, I'm running an Alien session next week >_
Is that an Alien RP session or an RP session for aliens? 🤔🤔
@@ninjafahita maybe both :P
how did it go?
Wilson gives off Boris vibes, and I instantly hated him😂😂 well done Johnny
I love how when Wheels describes the Monteiro as looking like the Nostromo from Alien, he's clearly stroking the ships cat. :D
I love Johnny's middle management type corporate drone characters. Nigel and Wilson are great terrible people.
I was so frustrated when Lolies climbed in the vent! 😬
Why are you running and hiding?! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE CAPTAIN! 😂😂😂
In space, noone can hear Lolies laughter.
Actually, that's the ONLY thing you can hear

Not sure I can handle a full 2 hours of Johnny's terrifyingly accurate BoJo impression.
I love Johnny, but I kept hoping something terrible would happen to Wilson. The impression of Bojo was too real. 😂
I love the subversion of expectations with the lack of Xenomorphs.

Is this a module or premade adventure (say in the core rulebook)?
Exactly how many people can fit into a spaceships air vent? Only John McClain knows for sure...
