About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.
Thanks for watching guys! And just in case you didn't catch that- IT WAS MASSIVE! 😂
I've never heard a cassowary but the curlews are usually the birds that sound like a woman screaming! Everywhere if FNQ. 😀
Your enthusiasm is infectious in this episode….brought a smile to my face 😁
Thanks Lisa for the kind words😊
Hey guys!! Loooove your videos. Bird sound you would have heard was a Curlew Bird! First night I moved to Cairns I almost called the police thinking someone was being hurt! Hahaha
Yes have since worked that out they are a bloody weird noise hey!
Thanks for watching Julia👍😊
I recognised the troopy in a photo i stumbled across for a camp site on Wikicamps and its just lead me to watch these old vlogs you guys did around the area.
its ALWAYS great to watch your videos guys, even these old classics. Its so bloody awesome to see how far you guys have come since these.
Classic! Far out we stayed at a lot of camps sites along that stretch! Going to go back and watch this episode now as well haha
Thanks for sharing another great video guys.
By the way, have you ever watching your own video and read the subtittle? I was giggling every time you said Cassowary. The subtittle was written casserole haha (@ 3.12)
Once again what a great video xx
What a classic love a good casserole 😂😂
@@itsJackandMegan hahaha me too
Wrong time of the year for Humidity probably best time for what you’re doing
It was really nice weather!👍
Fantastic guys' I am enjoying your trip and I have to add that you both genuinely look happy on your adventures.
Two thumbs up
Thanks Peter yes we are absolutely loving it.
Thanks for watching😊👍
It was a scrub python (amathistine python)
Cheers Scott yeah did some research that’s what it was!
Normal people doing awesome stuff…..love it. Shows you don’t need a 100k plus rig to explore.
Cheers mate exactly right 👍😊
What was the name of that animal you were scared of in the morning? Couldn’t here it. Wanna Google it. Would be nice if (for us none Auz) you could pop the names of interesting Auz animals in the screen🙏👍
Sorry about that mate, will definitely put the names up in future videos. It was the cassowary that we were frightened of while we were hiking, there were a few signs saying they can be violent and we recently found out they have even killed people! Crazy!
@@itsJackandMegan thanks for adding the name here. I googled it and google seems to think it is the most dangerous living bird to humans! Fear justified! Is that why you stayed in the car Jack and filmed while Megan got out to take the pics? We have the Ostrich here which packs a mean kick which can kill a human. I see the Cassoway can get as big as 1.6m! Now I know why you didn't want to meet up with one...you'd have to look him in the eye and explain what you doing on his property :).
How big was it? MASSIVE! Lol!
MASSIVE 😂😂
Awesome episode again. Chips, killer birds, big snakes and spectacular views!!!! You two are bringing awesome content and are so enthusiastic about everything you do. Loving your vids. See you on the next one.👍👍
Thanks K see you next week 👍😊
And thanks for watching!
That was Brilliant, your photography is good you are both fantastic in front of the camera ..... Love the drive inn what a great idea to be able to camp there.
Hey Roger thanks for watching!
Yes to be able to camp up at the drive ins was awesome! 👍😊
We saw a Cassuary run through the chip shop when we were there. Nice little spot
Marty from Perth
That would have been a classic to watch 😂
Another great episode, thanks for sharing! Those chips 😯
Chips were brilliant might even be the best we have ever eaten 😂
Great to see one of our rising SA youtube celebs Chris interacting with one of the Auz Celebs Jack & Megan. Watch both of you regularly!
Another unreal vid, love it!
Thanks Trev!!
Loving this episode, so many memories. We camped at the drive-in too.
We I went we did not have 4x4 we had station wagons ..ahh bring back the 60's
The drive ins were awesome!
Great vid! What's the sunset hike/location you did with that gorgeous view? I can't find it anywhere!
excellent. Thanks guys
brilliant as always where was that bay where i saw cassowary … bloody awesome ❤️
Hey Louise it’s called Etty Bay beautiful place!
How good is that you can camp at a Drive-In
Honestly it was the best experience!!
Well, We are spoilt again! I never got further North than Rocky when I lived in Qld. (for work) Hanging to get up that way one day & even though I have a sister in Cairns it just hasn't happened. We'd definitely do that drive in too! Thanks for another great video, such a magnificent part of the country.
Thanks Rod you definitely need to get up here it’s spectacular!
Another sweet video guys!
Noted that yiu got aftermarket buttons on your steering wheel... Is that for aftermarket cruise control? If yes, which one?
Hey mate We don’t actually use it it’s not connected and I can’t find the name of it sorry. Would be nice to have it tho!
That was a HUGE snake. FNQ is an incredible adventure. If you make it out alive from the crocks, snakes, jellyfish, sharks, cassuarys, and spiders, you will love it!
Marty from Perth
It has honestly been our favourite part of the trip so far! Going to be very hard to leave FNQ!
Nice one finding a Cassowary. That was a living descendent of the dinosaurs right there. Lucky the one you saw didn't have chicks with it, as it can get very aggressive & territorial when they have their young with them. They're not known as the most dangerous bird (or 2nd most dangerous bird next to the Ostrich) in the world for nothing.
Was an awesome experience but definitely wouldn’t want to get to close!
Thats a beauty of a scrub python, they actually grow to 7 metres long but super good for you's to see one out in the wild and not in a zoo good experience to remember !!
It was an experience that’s for sure! It was pretty big we couldn’t believe it!
Nice vid guys! Looks like we’re just trailing behind you up the coast. We’re off to Millaa Millaa tomorrow then on to Cairns after. Hopefully we can catch you somewhere!
You will love it Millaa milla was beautiful.
Hopefully see you on the road along the way 😊
Another pearla guys, I’m going up there just for the chips👍👍👍
Mate the chips were extremely good! Wouldn’t recommend eating the whole lot to yourself tho 😂😂😂
Jack honestly comes across as an absolute legend! Seriously, what a top bloke.
Keep it up guys. I've only just stumbled across your channel a few days ago and I've binge watched a heap of your videos.
Brilliant footage and editing!
Where do you guys get the music that you use in the videos? suits this style to a T!
Thanks heaps mate, you’re a legend as well 😁 Can thank Megan for all the editing, I wouldn’t have a bloody clue what’s going on on that side of things- she uses epidemic sound to find the music! Thanks again mate appreciate the comment
Awesome vid guys me and the mrs love watching your travels. If you get a chance go to Mossman gorge at port Douglas it’s awesome great walks so pretty.
Cheers mate thanks for watching! 😊
Guys one of the very few natural people adventure vloging without the try hard wording and over sharing of common knowledge. Your both likeable and putting out decent honest content, thanks it’s refreshing and appreciated, keep it up and enjoy!
Thanks for the the comment Mick really appreciate your kind words. 👍😊
I was at Etty Bay in May, same green van parked there then. We had so many cassowary encounters, it was amazing - a great little hidden gem there.
It is definitely a hidden gem! Beautiful place and the chips are just to die for 😂😂
You guys are having the time of your lives and I'm loving it! Massive waterfalls, massive chips, massive birds and massive pythons. Go big or go home hey.
Mate it’s honestly the best time ever.
Go big or go home 😂😂 good one
A bird that sounds like a screaming woman , I'd go Peacock on that one Jack :-)
Classic mate 😂😂😂😂
What drone do you guys use? your video skills are great and am loving the content cant wait to get out and do a lap myself.
Hey mate thanks for watching 😊 Its a Mavic Pro. It will be the best thing you do 😊👍👍
Those chips are making me hungry , once again great stuff guys , Cool Bananas .
I dunno what they did to those chips mate but the my were delicious! 😂
Guys, we have have them yellow signs here too .but...we have pictures of elephants ..and you do see them crossing the roads .far out !!!! The drive ins...gee we use to hide the the boot of the car and get in your free..the big movie that time was barbarella with Jane Fonda. You videos are just getting better and better . So enjoyable and brings memories back .. walking 6.5 klms....no way mate ,not in this broken old body ..we look forward to your videos each week ...keep safe..
Kev from northern Thailand
Hey Kev. Mate that hike was not easy can tell you that! Elephants crossing the road would be cool to see!
@@itsJackandMegan I will send you a video .thanks mate .cheers
Big kev. I am excited
if you go through Townsville, the High Range Tea Gardens have a $50 cup of coffee and i believe the coffee beans have been processed by cassowaries. New subscriber and I am loving the vibe and the channel.
Also not sure what noise a cassowary makes but curlews make a sound that sounds like a woman getting murdered. It is actually terrifying.
Hey Jared $50 for a coffee it better taste good 😂
We have actually passed Townsville already but will be back one day so will keep it in mind!
Also yes that’s what bird it was we are sure of it!
Guys, I can’t believe that you were actively hunting down a cassowary, if they feel threatened by you their middle toe gets shoved into your stomach and it’s ripped open
Before this encounter I pictured them to be the size of a turkey 🤣🤣 safe to say I was surprised hahah
Hi Guys, just wondering, what do you do for toilet facilities and showering?
Hey mate we have a porta potti and rechargeable shower head we just put in a bucket! Will link you to one of our older videos talking about it a bit more in depth if you're interested - ua-cam.com/video/hppVdtKYybg/v-deo.html
However we no longer use the hot water shower and just went back to basics there to save space in the troopy.
so funny, would love to know what type of snake it was, drive in - burger - two movies & a camp site........that's a bargain and day of the week
Hey mate it was a python commonly found in northern Queensland. 👍😊
What was the name of the place you went for the sunrise with the waterfall? Looks amazing!
Windin Falls! Absolutely incredible spot 🙌🏼🙌🏼
another ripper vid, great life long memories for you both
Thanks Raza so many memories that’s for sure!
Another excellent video, my wife and I use to go to Drive Ins back in the 60’s and 70’s but never camped there, that was too cool thanks. (We are very old)
You must be the same age as me ..we had about 15 drive ins .. I am 67
Thanks John! Yes we had one in Perth we would visit fairly often but was definitely a cool experience being able to sleep there! Thanks for watching mate
Great Ep. Did u have chicken salt on the chips?? Luv your vibe, always happy 😃
It actually was chicken salt! Cheers
@@itsJackandMegan chicken salt, the best
Yowie!!!
👍😊
Hey legends! Any chance you know the name of that epic little sunrise hike you went on?
Hey mate sorry we forgot to add the name to the video- it was Windin Falls near Atherton. About 11.2 kms total, it really was amazing!
Beautiful, cheers lords!
Screaming woman bird might have been a curlew?
We think it was yes!!
Those chips are making me hungry one again great stuff guys , Cool Bananas .
Me too! About to go out for Sunday (healthy eating plan) lunch and this just put a dent in the diet! I’M HAVEN CHIPS BABY👌👍
They were so bloody good haha. Thanks for watching mate
Go to Malanda they have tree Kangaroos
Dam if we had known we would have went we really wanted to spot one! 😅
Those birds are massive mate. Great vid
Crazy aren’t they mate!
Awesome video legends! Can't wait to see more :)
Cheers Bailey! 🤙
What month of the year was this video from?
Early June if I remember correctly, had beautiful weather!
Best vid yet mate!
Thanks for that mate!
What movie did you watch.
The first movie was Nobody and can’t remember the second one as we fell asleep 🤣
1) The name of the chip shop and its exact location ??
2) And there I was thinking Drive In and Coconuts were something completely different....
The chips were from Etty Bay Kitchen just next to the beach! Highly recommend 👍👍
Great vid guys. Just come across your channel. Nice work.
Snake is an amethystine python also known as a scrub python. I came across one half way through devouring a wallaby once 😯. They get truly massive.
Hey Mark thanks for watching. Yes that snake was MASSIVE 😂😂
You were about to say "you got banana on your banana", weren't you! Hahaha
Hahaha if only I could come up with jokes that good in the moment 😂
@@itsJackandMegan hahaha
Nice guys. If you're in that area and love this sort of thing I suggest Canabullen Falls in the misty mountains. A bit of a locals secret.
Cheers mate! We have left the area now but will definitely be back again! Will add that one to the list
Most Dangerous Bird on the Planet.
Big birds aren’t they!
@@itsJackandMegan Massive, beautiful as well.

Going to the daintree rainforest from cairns is there a souvenir shop there and a place to have a meal will it be cold in September 2023
Well done guys for another great ep. please tell me you go to Paronella Park?? Love north Qld
Thanks for watching mate! We actually ended up missing it thanks to the rain but definitely on our list for when we're back again.
The screaming bird sound is likely the Cat Bird or Kuranda Cat Bird as it was first explained to me. It's something else!!!
If you want to experience the rainforest birds up close and personal, visit or stay at the Canopy Treehouses in Tarzali
Will have to give it a google and see if that was the one! Was such a strange sound haha. Thanks heaps!
@@itsJackandMegan don't know if you've solved the mystery yet but 100% sounds like it was a Curlew. Creepiest birds ever!
Good one guys! Thanks for the inspiration 🤙 Enjoy!
also.. just wanted to say it's SO nice to see some cool, genuine people! There are quite a few channels we've seen lately where people don't come across as authentic.. and its so disheartening as we just want to watch the good vibes vids! We're taking off in our caravan soon, (mid-renovating haha 😴) so thank you Megan and Jack! New subscribers here! Keep it up 👍
Thanks so much for the kind comment and thanks for watching! We hope the rest of your caravan reno goes smoothly!
Curlew
Yeah we did a google search that night and realised it was probably a curlew 😅 had never heard of them before!
@@itsJackandMegan pretty creepy eh, caught me out in 2019 when I done cape
