Good advice mate I thought that would be the case Problem with the arb bullbar is the headlights can't come out with it on its a pain haha going to have to pull it off to do my windscreen washer bottle soon though
Looking back at the video even if I just unclipped the headlight and pulled it forward until it hit the bullbar it would have made a big difference haha cheers for your input hopefully people see your comment
Great work Ryan......just about to change the one on my LR3 and thought I'd better check good old UA-cam for a how to do video.....definitely makes the job a lot easier after watching. Thanks mate.....👍
No problem at all if you don't have a bullbar removing the light gives you heaps more room If you do have a bullbar I reckon pulling the light forward that extra inch would still help alot
Agreed for me , I can't remove the headlight because of my bullbar but even sliding it forward a few inches would have made a huge difference I no for next time now haha 🍻
Thanks for this video! I need to do mine, so did the same as everyone else and searched Google 😀. The one thing I didn't get from the video is the tools list.... Talk about first world problems😅. Hopefully I won't have to stop half way through because I'm missing a tool.
Hey Vincent I can't remember exactly was I used tool wise only thing from memory that helped me out was the hose clamp tool I have That being said if you have a basic socket , spanner and pliers set you should be alright If you don't have a bullbar like me then you can remove the front headlight aswell and you gain a heap load more room
Hi Ryan, I enjoyed your video. Do you know why there are black marks on your old coolant bottle? My 2009 Discovery 3 2.7 shows the same thing. People say the oil cooler is the problem. Have you had any problems?
For us with V6 2.7 diesels in less sunny climes, bear in mind your working space is further confined on the outside by a Webasto FBH, makes the job more of a ball acher....
Yep super stoked i don't have the diesel heater 🤣 also most people will be able to remove the headlight for more room Unfortunately I can't because of the bullbar Happy new years 🍻
Can you tell me what your coolant temp is just normal driving around not towing not offroad? i just replaced my radiator / thermostat on my D3 TDV6 and coolant temp is around 89-90 dC. Havent done any motorway driving yet as I want to be 100% sure its not running hot but dont have a reference of what normal temp is.
Hey Matt pretty sure the thermostat on these opens fully at 87 degrees 89 is nothing to worry about mine runs between 86 -90 depending on how hot the day is
I used the penrite red as it was what they recommended when I went through there lube chart If your using the blue I'd suggest filling with water first then running it and draining the coolant after before putting in the blue stuff to prevent any possibility of 2 style colour coolants mixing together What did it have in there orginally
@@craigfield3154 Hi mate, So, in the end, which coolant is right for you? red or blue? My Discovery 3 4.4 v8 petrol has orange coolant, I contacted Penrite and they recommended blue. But I've never seen a discovery3 with blue coolant.
@@abchkbh I haven't put thd blue penrite in yet but will be in the next few months. I did contact them and they confirmed blue was the stuff but ill do a flush first
@@craigfield3154 I'm thinking of replacing it with Nulon RLL coolant concentrate. Of course, this also needs a flush. By the way, I misunderstood the bleeding process, so I poured about 1.5 liters of coolant from the tank bleed screw, and suddenly cold air came out of the heater. I added coolant and tried the bleeding process again, but it did not improve. The coolant temperature gauge is in the normal range, but the heater only comes out with cold air, so I'm afraid that the engine will be damaged regardless of the gauge. I am New to Land rover. Land rover is not as simple as Japanese or Korean cars.😮💨
The top hose that you see at the end of the video is the return from the top of the radiator, basically you just under that black bleed screw on the bottle and make sure that coolant is flowing consistently from that hose into the bottle which means that all the air is bleed from the radiator
I did that repair a while back when my sensor failed, if you take the headlamp out it makes it a lot easier. Great video as always 👍
Good advice mate I thought that would be the case

I have just done mine recently. Remove the headlight to give yourself more room to work. It took me 25mins to do the job👍

Thanks Ryan, great illustrative video!
No dramas David thanks for the feedback 🤙🤙

I've had one of those hose clamp flexible tools on my radar for ages - keep forgetting to buy one
Highly sudgest getting one wish I bought it years ago makes the awkward clamps really easy

Hey Ryan great vid. I'm about to do both jobs but noticed you used the Penrite red coolant. I have the Penrite blue, should i be using the red?

Its got red in it, but the penrite website is specifying blue. I'll touch base with them to double check

could you explain with the old bottle where the fill line is please as I'm confused what line I'm supposed to watch. cheers

Aren’t you supposed to press that clip in to detach the sensor? The metal clip stays on the harness. Either way - good work!
I'll have to look into it that would make it 10x easier to get off if that's the case hahah
Thanks
Good video
Cheers mate 🤙🤙
Is that a diesel?
@@mykalrodriguez4304 morning correct that's a diesel
Spraying coolant on your accessory belt can reduce its lifetime and may cause abnormal wear (chemical reaction that degrade its properties)
Correct that's why you rinse it off afterwards
Not bleeding air out of you cooling system will will cost you alot more then a belt
These things do not last long, cheap. Good video.
Yep it's not the best bottle out there that's for sure haha
