  • This is a 8' long Totem Pole made from a timber 4' X 6" X 8' long. The faces I got off the Internet. The piece was not hard to do. Give it a try. I always say a project is just doing a lot of little thing over time and you wind up with something you can enjoy. Give it a try.

This is great! Thank you so much for sharing! I love straightforward instructional videos like this where you actually see what the person is doing. I have two large 6"x6" beams that have been sitting at the end of the driveway at our cabin in the mountains since last year, when we started designing a plan for a tiki style movie screen pagoda. My job is to carve designs into them. I haven't started but now that I have some time I figured I would brush up on ideas and this was PERFECT! The designs of these types of carvings always overwhelms me because they look really complicated so I needed a jumping-off point where I could plan something that won't be too difficult or complicated or time-consuming otherwise it won't ever happen. I love the idea of printing the designs to size and tracing out the lines onto the wood to carve. :) Now I just need a new Dremel cause that is what I am most familiar with using. Thank you!

What kind of grinder and ball are you using ? I can’t make it out in the video or the type of ball and size. Thanks really enjoyed the video.

are those 'chainsaw discs' really that dangerous to work with? I have been asking around in the local shops and apparently they are not for sale in Belgium because of safety-issues...
    nice work btw ;)

They aren't to bad to handle. Its as safe as an electric chain saw. You can get them on Go to Amazon search (4 Inch Grinder Chain Saw Disc Wood Carving Disc) around $9.50 with prime. Be careful using this it can get away from you.

Mind if I ask what type of disc you're using on the angle grinder?

I see it’s actually some kind of a rotary tool instead of a grinder.
