I’m from Japan and I always wondered why people in the West don’t wear Uniqlo’s heattechs despite their interests in Uniqlo essentials. It’s been everybody’s winter staple in the last decade over here. I myself wear it everyday. It’s warm, comfy and thin enough so that it doesn’t get in the way of layering.
Cold in England over the past few months, got ultra heattech legging things and I was wowed. Literally wear them most days I go out. Got a long sleeve top and now both are on constantly. Actually game changing, I can literally wear a lighter jacket if I want
It really depends on the weather where you live and how you have acclimatized to it. I live in the northern midwest of Canada where windchill and extreme arctic weather are quite common, and for that reason, we have windproof, waterproof, heavy-duty jacket, boots, and accessories. Anything above -10 degrees Celcius is considered warm. From -10 to -15 degrees, everyone can walk around in their sweatshirts and a lightweight jacket. When the temperature hits zero, you'd see people going buy plants, cleaning yards and stuff (we call it 'false spring', there are like 3 false springs from February until the last frost in May, lol). Speaking of Heattech, on its own, it's too thin and cold but under a wool sweater or cotton sweatshirt, it's too warm for me.
@@sirshinra "I can literally wear a lighter jacket if I want" Exactly!! It allows you to wear something light and thin even in the winter. One of the pros of the heattech is that it gives you more options for layering. If you are in the mood for something light but don't want to get cold, now you can wear this. If it's cold out but don't want to wear puffer jacket or long overcoat, now you can wear this. It's lightweight and very thin so you can carry it in your bag, and put it on if it gets cold or take it off if it's too warm. As long as you don't expect too much from them, they are actually quite useful.
Italian here: been using heattech, airism and blocktech pieces extensively depending on weather conditions for years now. Uniqlo should pay me for the amount of free advertising I do for them 😂. If I hadn't gotten into techwear I probably wouldn't have known about these technologies though.
You know the sleeves on the thermal aren't meant to hit your wrist. They're designed so you don't see the top under a sweatshirt etc. So everyone, if you buy your usual size, it will come up short on the arms.
I think he might just have short arms like me. Every long sleeved shirt I've owned either hits my wrist or goes past it when it's not supposed to. I just got used to it.
Gotta love seeing that in partnership with UNIQLO. Our boy has come a long way. Also these are my favorite videos, always lover hearing what's new at UNIQLO
The standard heat tech are the ones I've worn for the past 3 years now it keeps me warm enough even when I'm moving around often. It's a must have for Canadian winters. Would love to see a business to casual work wear outfits from uniqlo. Keep it up tim! much love from canada
I've never thought to wear heat tech cause the only time I've ever worn a "thermal" it was the single most uncomfortable piece of clothing I've ever had the displeasure of wearing in my life. Texas is pretty warm most of the year, but sometimes winter can get a bit cold though I'm aware that compared to Canada I'm just being a wimp. Are the heat tech clothes really as comfortable as Tim says though?
@@jackmanleblanc2518 Back when I was younger "walmart thermals" was the go too but it was the most uncomfortable thing ever. I feel like clothing material is so far advanced now that yes I agree with Tim and that heat tech from Uniqlo specifically is very comfortable. You can wear as a stand alone piece in moderate temps. I would try one out as everyone regulates body temperature differently.
I prefer the Uniqlo U Tshirts over the airism, maybe because the U series use heavier cotton. Been living in heattech the whole winter, it’s comfortable & holds up really well - I like pairing the turtleneck heattech under button-down shirts. The “croissant” bag is my go-to for going to concerts & festivals, they indeed fit a lot for such a small thing!
I find the regular heat-tech to be suitable from 0- to 10C, extra warm for -1 to -15C (which is perfect for Toronto Winter) and ultra warm for any below that :) Hope that helps
I personally use the Ultrawarm hextec thermos! Not only do they look nice on me but it keeps me warm especially when I go on a run in the cold winters of New York. Sometimes I wear them as pajamas or go out with them because it looks so nice! 🙌
Tim I genuinely avoid your videos but please take that as a compliment. My bank account hates you lol😭. Thanks for what you do, brother! Also, your video production quality has been top tier lately, keep up the good work!
Straight up. I’m an American who lives in Thailand and this is where I found out about Uniqlo. I almost shop exclusively there. All there clothes feels good, well priced and has a little bit of everything there.
I have the wide leg jeans, for some time now, and I gotta say, they're the best pair I have. I used to hate jeans because they never fit my large thighs and butt, but the wide leg jeans fit me perfectly, and they're of great quality
Just got those wide leg jeans... what a nice find! Have always been looking for some wide jeans which are still trendy enough for today... thanks for this gem find man
Ultra warm is definitely the gold standard The extra warm and regular kinda don’t really have much of a place for me cause I’ll either b using the airism t shirt as a base layer or the ultra warm heattech depending on the temp outside
I do have Heattech ultra warm for hike activity or going somewhere cold. In Indonesia, I saw a lot of hiker move to uniqlo brand. When I wear some of their products, now it make sense to me.
Great essentials, The hoody, regular sweater, chinos… I do actually mainly rock Uniqlo as it just works for me. Props for the SARB, thanks for this vid and cheers mate.
I have the standard heattech tshirt, and it feels so soft on the skin and looks very nice. But if you need something to make you warmer then go for the premium models.
a downside on the white airism mock neck shirt is that the collar is another kind of "stronger" white tone compared to the rest of the shirt due to difference in material and thickness. This doesn't catches the eye on the other colors but on the white one I tried on I couldn't unsee it. It bothered me pretty much, cause like this it remembers me of those ugly 16th century ruff Spanish collar-things
I’m glad you hit on the heatech! I’ve been eyeing the top and bottoms for a while, but this (and the comments here) convince me I need to finally give them a try. Thanks, Tim!
Brother, you hit it right on point when you say the Mock Neck are ideal for a standalone piece. PERFECT for just some smart joggers and a nice clean sneakers. I was sad when the normal crew neck was out of stock, and now the other version the sleeve is longer, which is a no for me.... Hope these mock neck will be available soon in US
Their slim-fit chinos and active pants are also both amazing, besides the materials at a good price, Uniqlo does a great job on the cut of their pants in particular.
I like the extra warm, it has a nice texture to it that makes it work as an outer-layer as well as under-layer. But the other variants are great too as just under layers. I’d suggest getting a size up in the extra and ultra warm. The normal heattech are great as actual thermals under existing regular garments, and nice to sleep in.
i got the airism shirt (the crew neck one tho bc it's the only one i could find) and it was the best purchase i ever made,, despite the rainy season, it's still very hot where i live, plus i spilled water on it by accident but it quickly dried!
I relied on the ultra-warm Heattech range (women's black top and tights base layer) to survive fall and winter in Canada. functional, modern, warm, fits well, and durable. they feel like a techno version of Cashmere and they don't get small holes from wear. I don't have any other Heattech (ie the sweater) because the 'rough' side is facing the inside and the 'soft' side facing the outside, which is uncomfortable to wear. I have a regular heattech thin black top that I use to block out the sun on warmer days. It rarely gets super hot here so I have yet to try air range this summer.
I have one ultra warm and a whole bunch of standard heat tech thermals! I honestly prefer the standard to the ultra warm because they layer much nicer under sweaters and tops that are more fitted. I also find them more lightweight and comfortable. Though not as warm as the ultra warm they're good enough for your standard European winter (I used to live in Southern Sweden and now Germany), I would say it's an even better option if you can layer more on top because then you're not too warm when indoors with heating. :) Absolute game changer for me. I guess one downside of the standard is that they're a little too thin to wear on their own.
Gawd i love uniqlo. If there's one brand whose cuts and fits fit effortlessly on the male asian body, Uniqlo is just up there. There's even a meme in my country during Chinese New Year where its traditional for every one to show up with brand new clothes. Women will have different styles, mixed contemporary and traditional wear. Men, on the other hand, will all be wearing Uniqlo XD
The problem with the heat tech is that they’re not skin tight, which is the best for a base layer. Nor are they sweat wicking so all the sweat is just slapping on your hoodie or knitwear
I usually just wear the ultra warm heat tech one by itself and layer on a coat and that's usually enough to keep me warm. It's basically a light weight sweat shirt. I find if I layer it under a sweater I overheat

Interesting - did not know that. I think the shorter sleeve length was a bit confusing because it still has a tighter cuff area that kind of rides up.
That's right. I had a heat tech one too. The sleeves are at least 1 inch below the wrists.
