I have an old S and X with FSD. Both running fine but Very low trade in. Getting 2 Y performances with FSD transfer. 55k base each. 7500 ev tax credit too. Brand new cars. Good deal. Only through September 30.
Hi, tx for the video. I was thinking exactly the same (change now to keep fsd on new car). After some days of research, i am trending to waiting. I have a M3p 2020 Germany. We do not have FSD beta so far. In addition nobody could confirm to me that the new car would come with HW4. One point in particular which make me hesitant is the vision only parking. Looking at the most recent reviews it is very poor in performance with some really strong indications that it will not work at all properly without adding the Ultra sound sensors again. All commentators online see this as a big set-back. I am wondering if fsd will work if the without being able to park properly!. So my advice is to look into that in detail before you commit
I have considered it, but I don't use my USS often and think HW4 will likely be worth it. But we'll see how the trade-in comes in. Here's hoping you get FSD soon.
Advice from someone who is doing it (me): Tesla may give you significantly less in trade than the preliminary range initially shown on the app. For a firm trade-in number, go to a Tesla showroom and tell them you need a firm trade-in number BEFORE you place the order for a new Tesla. I did not do this and ended up paying at least $2-3k more than I had expected to pay. Otherwise I think your thought process is sound and I would go ahead and do it.
@@teslaroundup We will all be interested in knowing Tesla’s final offer for your ‘22 and how it compares to the preliminary offer range. This week, I traded in a 2018 M3LR with 35k miles. (I had upgraded it to FSD with the HW3 computer in 2019, but only received the FSD Beta software in 2022.) Anyway, before I ordered the new car, a model Y, the Tesla trade-in estimate site said my 2018 would be worth $25,700 - $27,600 in trade. But after I ordered, Tesla’s final offer was only $23,700 and I could not convince them to budge. Hope they don’t do this to you.
I’d wait for project Juniper that is rumored to happen after the model 3 refresh. You may end up with more creature comforts. Ventilated seats etc. although you’ll lose out on FSD. 🤷🏼♂️ Good luck!
I'm a software guy so FSD is huge to me. Also, don't hold me to it but I think the fed tax break reduces next year. But if they allow the swap again after Juniper....
I don't like pressure sales tactics. I also don't like how badly FSD performs in my area. I don't believe it will ever work. When I'm eventually ready to move on from my 2018 Model 3 Performance, my next car won't have FSD. I'm not locked into Tesla either with this. If it always transferred, I would probably give it more weight in my buying decision
While I can certainly understand your perspective I do think true FSD will happen. Just don't have a clue what hardware version we'll be at when it happens.
@tesla-roundup I really don't believe it will ever work in my area. It is an exception when it stops for county road stop signs and it also wants to go 25 MPH on all rural roads and highways without a speed limit sign. If it does eventually work, I'll be ready for my third EV by then 😄. If you think it will work during ownership of your next car, then I say go for it. You also reset to 0 miles and a fresh warranty.
I've been waiting for FSD since I bought it in 2016 (Model S). So yes, almost 7 years ago. I had given up on Tesla and I was planning to go with another manufacturer. However, I may give Tesla one more chance. I would like a Model 3, but I think HW4 is the way to go. It seems now to get MW4, prior to the end of Q3, I will need to consider the Y. So, for different reasons, I'm also on the fence. News to me that Model Y with HW4 is only coming out of Fremont. I didn't know that, so thanks. I can wait a while, but it needs to be delivered by the END of Q3, so I'll need to decide soon.
Double check me on hardware four coming out of Fremont only before you take it to the bank. I've been known to make mistakes before... Be curious about what you end up doing.
How often do you use FSD? I like driving and really don't enjoy Auto Pilot. I have rented FSD and besides auto lane changes really didn't see the value. I have the same Y as you a 2022. Good luck.
I use it almost all the time but not because I find it tremendously useful but because I'm a software guy. I am finding it more and more useful though, so would like to see it through to the end. Thanks for watching. Enjoy your MY!
I ended up going for it. I made a video of our pickup day if you want to take a peek. I'm pretty sure you're going to love it. What year is your current Tesla?
It comes down to how certain you are that FSD will be achieved. If it is, owning an FSD-equipped Tesla will be epic. Trading HW3 for HW4 only increases your odds of winning. The $6k upgrade cost will seem insignificant if and when Level 4 FSD is finally downloaded to your Tesla. I traded my 2018 Model 3 for a 2023 Model Y. Net cost $14K. No brainer. Caution: HW4.0 is shipping on Tesla Model Y Standard Range vehicles from Austin. Verify the delivery of HW4 on a Model Y LR from Fremont or Austin before the transfer takes place 72 hours before taking delivery.
Good thoughts. I tend to agree with you. My service agent did say the majority are coming off the line with hardware four and she could check for sure once I got my VIN.
I don’t feel we will have FSD here in the UK for many years to come, I do love our MYLR, ten months in, still got that smile on my face so saying we bought the additional Auto Pilot package but its very disappointing, some days its fine some not so I guess FSD will be the same. Hopefully it will get there some time before I die but being 70 now maybe not !!
Take delivery ASAP, as I heard if you proceed with the order, Tesla will stop Full FSD on your current car, you loose it permanently, and Tesla is absolved of any responsibility on insuring delivery of the new car on time (with Free FSD) to fit within the terms of the FSD transfer agreement. I would consider that risky.
If you wait and miss deadline. You lose. Generally I take one time deals, or lifetime offers- free supercharging, connectivity…I have 2 legacy cars with both. Even though I charge mostly at home I can go anywhere and supercharge got free, connectivity free.
Beta software doesn't bother me as you're buying the promise of when it's not in beta, and the software will get there. Never gave thought to the hardware.
Hardware 4 on model y after q2 comes without any ultrasonic sensor. I got a chance to test drive the older model when I sent it for paint maintenance. The camera quality is much better and pop up camera when you turn signal is much quicker on the new model. The only down side I see with the new model is that fSD feature such as auto park and summon are mot available since Tesla vision still in beta. The other thing is the forward collision tend to br much sensitive on the new model. I am not sure if is because camera can’t capture the distance quite right.
I like the way you lay your experience out. Very informative. I recently ordered a new Tesla Y and it is quite the learning experience.
How do you like it so far?
