Bob dylan did give mad props to the stones saying he wished he could write a song like angie or wild horses. If dylan says he wished he could write something that u wrote, that's the ultimate compliment.
Chris does a great Keith and Mick impression during this. Both impressions are brief but he had their mannerisms down exactly, when he says Mick is going to save the day then gestures just like him and when he says Keith is like "don't be like that Bob".
Dylan is Dylan - who knows what was going on- but I'm sure it had nothing to do with oufits!! That said- Jagger was a complete prince at the Desert Trip concert in California 2016, right after Bob won the Nobel - Bob was humble and modest ( and of course didn't say a word) and Mick was like, Ok- let's welcome Bob Dylan who just won the Nobel prize- what an honor- He was just so professional and truly happy for Bob- I believe all the rock stars have "their moments" of a- hole ness, but they all respect each other tremendously!
The millennial term "low key" is banned from any UA-cam vids prior to 2020. "low key" can be removed any time it's used and the sentence is exactly the same bro. Now I gotta low key poop
For those that don't get Dylan..... One day, for some strange reason , you will revisit his music and totally get what you missed ALL the other times...its like another door opens up in your mind,,,,so in closing --- IF you don't get Dylan , give it time you will grow mentally mature enough to understand. Happened to me.
implying that every single person on earth should love him, and those that don't lack some sort of mental maturity, is completely asinine. this is coming from a bob dylan fan
So people that don't like Bob Dylan aren't mentally mature? He's not that deep, get over yourself.....and tbh he was the worst show I've ever seen hands down. He sat on a stool and just labored thru his songs like he didn't wanna be there. He was terrible
You stole my comment. It was on my bucket list to see him live. He was so lethargic and uncaring about his performance, it was basically a game of "name that tune." Even "Like a Rolling Stone" was unrecognizable.
Agreed. Being from Minneapolis I can tell you. Here you make your own scene as one doesn't exist. There's actually a Prince song titled - Something in the Water (does not compute). I've traveled a lot and there's no place like Minneapolis.
Yeah, right. Talk to the director of the movie Factory Girl(on Edie Sedgwick), when Bob didn't want his name associated with it. A hypocrite indeed but R'nR outlaw?
Dylan is an original, once in a lifetime musician. A Nobel laureate no less. As Miles Davis said in a Rolling Stone interview, wtf are the Rolling Stones? Ripping of black bluesman. Thats who.
Bob exists on a different plane of awareness than most of us and some people recognize it. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2016 was awarded to Bob Dylan "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Michael Herrington No. He wouldn’t. Howard would have to change his shtick (and despite Howard’s protestations, he, too, has a “shtick”). Bob doesn’t play into that, which is why the Stones couldn’t corral him.
Bob will never be on Stern. Howard makes fun of him everytime plus the way Jakob was treated on that Howard drinkathon Xmas thing years ago...it'll never happen.
Chris really told that story!.Loved it!.I think everyone can agree that if Dylan wasnt this master songwriter and was just a plumber or whatever.Everyone would be like "Who's the a**hole?".I'm not the biggest Dylan fan.But even I heard a ton of stories like this about him..
I have a Chris Robinson story. I was at the Whiskey Bar in the Sunset Marquis many years ago with a friend when in walks Kate Hudson, Tara Reid, Chris Robinson and some other douchebag. The bar is fairly empty and they come and sit down right next to us. Tara Reid lights up a cigarette - forget the no smoking in bars law which had just passed, she didn't care, and the bar didn't dare ask a celebrity to obey it. The group was loud and obnoxious and to top it off the bar put on the Black Crowes, which I found amusing. My friend and I quietly got up and moved to the other side of the bar. The only one who noticed was...? Kate Hudson. She stood up and mouthed "I'm sorry" to us. Which I thought was rather lovely of her. The rest of them couldn't care less. My impression of Chris Robinson was that he was a self-absorbed narcissist with low awareness and consideration of others around him. Of course he may have changed since then.
Is this really a Chris Robinson story? You were at a bar right? Not like it was a quiet romantic restaurant...and you formed an opinion of him (and the other douchebag) right there while he was hanging with his friends at a bar!! Who cares?
Almost all of the cool REAL 'hippies', call themselves 'freaks' and most of them are NOT rich. WE call those you describe as 'plastic hippies' or 'luvvies'!
Dylan's version of this event, was that he asked the Stones not to do a cover of his song while touring with him. The Stones ignored his request, and expected if they started playing L.A.R.S, Dylan would feel compelled to join in. Obviously Dylan much different.
Dylan was likely having monitor (in-ear) issues during that show. If you can't hear yourself sing, especially in front of 80,000 people, you can't perform.
This would be cool on Bob's part except that he agreed to go on stage, made the effort of matching Mick's wardrobe, stood at a designated microphone & basically fucked up. The cool thing would have been if he had attended, been called up unexpectedly and then given the finger. The story's funny because of the difference of the Stones "professionalism" at putting on a show & Dylan's "whatever" attitude; except that a lot of Dylan's attitude is to cover up shit he feel he can't do well; it seemed like he'd put a bit of time & effort into the collaboration until the point he couldn't pull it off.
He notoriously changes keys on songs, does a different arrangement all of a sudden or starts singing different words. I think he likes to keep things fresh and keep people on their toes and it's sort of a loose and free kind of thing. Which he's tried to be his whole life. A slightly eccentric, but real poet
a friend of mine ran into Chris Robinson on the streets of San Francisco years ago. He looked at him and said "Hi Chris Robinson!" Christ looked back, flipped him off, and said "fuck you man" :)
That makes no sense. He has been a 'professional' musician for more than half a century. I'm a crap musician and wouldn't have an issue with "different timing".
Lost it at the end when “Keith says don’t be like that bob” hahaha
I didn't realize Chris was such a good impressionist. He nailed both Mick Jagger and Keif Richards with a single motion of the two. Hilarious.
Only Dylan can get away with giving the finger to The Stones. The only other people that can get away with that is a Beatle.
Johnny rotten
Nah.
So Bob didn't want to be "Like a Rolling Stone"
👏👏👏
Bob once said to Keith Richards, "I could've written Satisfaction, but you could never have written Desolation Row."
Let's face it anything Bob Dylan does will always be freakin' cool especially cussin' out the Stones on stage.
He's the worst live performance you could ever hope to see.
I didn't hear him cuss out the Rolling Stones what the f*** is wrong with you
Like when he was sucking Brian Jones
Senile old man
are you an idiot or do you just sound like one/
I swear I heard Alan Alda asking a question
Bob dylan did give mad props to the stones saying he wished he could write a song like angie or wild horses. If dylan says he wished he could write something that u wrote, that's the ultimate compliment.
Lol 😂 I love these rock ‘n’ roll stories can’t get enough of them 😂

Wendy Miller no shit
wendy miller - who taught you think that way?
one of the best rock and roll stories of all time
Rock and Roll stories are the best !
If you are terminally shallow
That was a low-key amazing Keith Richards impersonation at the end. Lol!
Was somewhere between Keith and jack sparrow lmao
The millennial term "low key" is banned from any UA-cam vids prior to 2020. "low key" can be removed any time it's used and the sentence is exactly the same bro. Now I gotta low key poop
I can watch this over and over again
Thank you for a much needed true and sincere gut felt laugh.
Dylan can be a jerk sometimes but he doesn’t care .
Always was a big Dylan fan. Now I'm an even bigger Dylan fan! What a classic story. Thank you, Chris Robinson (-:
Dylan’s just such a fukin legend. He was the original troll.
I was in Montpellier!!! I was 20 years Old and 700 km from my home in Italy! It was all incredible!!!!
was it like Chris said it was
Dev'essere stata una figata! Io ho quasi vent'anni invece. Ma è successo veramente così?
No one give AF
Chris’s impersonation of Keith is hilarious and spot on.
For those that don't get Dylan..... Possibly one of the gayest fucking things I’ve ever read.
implying that every single person on earth should love him, and those that don't lack some sort of mental maturity, is completely asinine. this is coming from a bob dylan fan

StuON22 Even Bob doesn’t get Dylan. Ever see the 60 Minutes interview where he explains that he didn’t know where all his classics came from?
StuON22 oh please.. spare those of us who are intelligent to accept his entire career is hyped
Even Howard doesn't dare interrupt, which is surprising.
Oh don't be like that, Bob.
The best part of the clip, for me. By far.
Spot on, Keef.
Bob Dylan has been basically flipping off anyone who sees him live for the past 20 years
LOL
40 years.
You stole my comment. It was on my bucket list to see him live. He was so lethargic and uncaring about his performance, it was basically a game of "name that tune." Even "Like a Rolling Stone" was unrecognizable.
SIMBETAM ! Dylan is basically an asshole. Always has been. Treats people like shit and gets away with it because he’s a big star.
SIMBETAM ! Yep. Trash
The Mick and Keith gestures that Chris did were on point!
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
In my youth flipping off friends was how to say hello
Ditto
Is it wrong now? I think I do it without thinking about it.
I was at that show in Montpellier !! 😂 I went there for the crowes actually ! Nobody knew them !
ITS JUST A MIRACLE TO SEE THE BLACK CROWES REUNITED IN 2019 :) IM SO HAPPY FOR THESE TWO BROTHERS, GOD BLESS EVERYONE WHO LOVES ROCK N ROLL MUSIC.
Some people claim that they give zero f*cks..Dylan really does..Give zero f*cks I mean..
LOVE THE CROWES!!!!
Love your dog.
I am so glad they're getting back together to me they're the greatest band of the 1990s 🤘
No they're not. Nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam and many more are much better bands.
@@Rocketpower713 Nope.
Dylan flipping off the stones for decades 😂
Someone find the clip he's referring to! I'd love to see it!
Ben D. Where oh where can that clip be
There should be a website where you can upload and search for videos such as that. any type of video at all. They could call it MeTube or something
Find it, bro
Half the time celebrities just make up stories. You’ll go back to the footage and find that it was nothing like they described
YES! FIND IT, SOMEBODY!
Flabbergasted and spangled of benevulence and girdled of prerequisites of so many musicians so famous !!!!----!!!!!-----!!!!!!--
What a epic story !!!
Chris and Rich smiling at each other in the studio: *a weight off my shoulders*
That was awesome.
Both Prince and Dylan were born in Minnesota. Both resisted the "norms" of the artist cliques. Maybe it's in the water.
Agreed. Being from Minneapolis I can tell you. Here you make your own scene as one doesn't exist. There's actually a Prince song titled - Something in the Water (does not compute). I've traveled a lot and there's no place like Minneapolis.
Sounds like I need to purify myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka .
Jim Brew maybe Dylan’s just an asshole and way overrated
So why did he agree to do the song? He could have just declined. I'm not getting this.
@@poopstain5216 just maybe?
Black crowes are amazing,so glad the robinsons are getting along again ... amorica is incredible get it
It is really weird to see them next to each other. But it makes me happy.
@@mikelabomusic7782 take a picture...it won't last.
Funny shit, love the Crowes and Howard!
Glad there's a few comments about Chris R nailing Keith and Mick gestures.
That was a great story told really well
Bob has always been more of a rock n roll outlaw than any of the 'stones.
Dork
David Eats Bullshit
Yeah, right. Talk to the director of the movie Factory Girl(on Edie Sedgwick), when Bob didn't want his name associated with it. A hypocrite indeed but R'nR outlaw?
There's being an outlaw...and then there's just being a dick. Did Dylan even have a reason for this small child's tantrum?
Dylan did a car commercial for the Superbowl. There is no bigger corporate sellout than that.
Ohhh don’t be like that Bob 🤣🤣🤣 I can totally see Keith doing this hahahaha.
Black Crowes The Stones & Dylan what a show
Bob Dylan expects a backing band to follow his vocal, not the other way around.
Dylan is an original, once in a lifetime musician. A Nobel laureate no less. As Miles Davis said in a Rolling Stone interview, wtf are the Rolling Stones? Ripping of black bluesman. Thats who.
Great interview Howard! Doing what you do best.
Hunter Blain ✅
Bob exists on a different plane of awareness than most of us and some people recognize it. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2016 was awarded to Bob Dylan "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Nels Arvidson Maybe, but just a shame he feels the need to be a cantankerous, moody brat like in that scenario
It's nice when Howard let's the guest tell the story
Please Howard get Bob Dylan he would be one of the best guests ever
Michael Herrington No. He wouldn’t.
Howard would have to change his shtick (and despite Howard’s protestations, he, too, has a “shtick”). Bob doesn’t play into that, which is why the Stones couldn’t corral him.

Gotta love how Chrisbtells a story...awesome
Happy birthday dude!
I (and my roommate) had a run in with CR backstage in - '91. Hope he's changed.
What a fucking story......love it...... Bob had a Johnny Cash moment.......
Wow! He flipped them off? What a bad ass!
Only Bob Dylan could get away with flipping off Mick and Keith and get away with it!!😂😂😂
Love it 😊

Great storyteller
Get a life. DUCAT
Best story ever
2019
No one f***s with the "BOB DYLAN"! NO ONE!
I don't get why Dylan was upset. Was it because of the shirt?
Probably didn't like their using his song for their tour... who knows
@PurpleHairClip he probably wasn't upset lol
Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown.
The Stones thought they could upstage Dylan playing his own song. Dylan wasn't having it.
Howard Stern actually looks handsome in this clip. Can't believe I said or think that =O
You got to love Chris' storytelling.
Rich looks anxious. I hope these two make another album and this is not just a tour to make some money.
more like withdrawing
What's wrong with making money?
Seriously? You think there’s some possibility that this tour is about anything but money?
Arpad Jones
Most tours are financially based
I have a Chris Robinson story. I was at the Whiskey Bar in the Sunset Marquis many years ago with a friend when in walks Kate Hudson, Tara Reid, Chris Robinson and some other douchebag. Robinson definitely was a tool as a younger man. IDK if he has changed or not. Hopefully yes.
Prolly not. Chris loves him some Chris. The Black Crowes coming together is a big money grab.
Kate Hudson should mouth "I'm sorry" for all her horrible movies.
You are a nobody, who drops names to try to be kool, but you're really a loser, right?
West Marin rocks....cool laid back super rich hippies.....don't forget Calimari at the Cove!....

Ralph’s fashion tip to Howard - wear your glasses ABOVE your eyes!
Genius!!!!!!!!
Honestly who else just came here cus of the little hand thumbnail lmao 😂
so I hear of this band and buy Shake on cassette.
Play it and the Wife says "that sounds like the Stones". Open G.
Once again, she was right.
glen kepic Only if you’ve never heard the Faces or Humble Pie.
glen kepic If you listen there is a lot more of The Faces in The Black Crowes than the stones.
Now that’s rock and roll
Great story Chris.
There was a time when life was not scripted for UA-cam clips.
Whoah been awhile since I’ve seen Chris. He got old. I suppose we all do.
Dylan was likely having monitor (in-ear) issues during that show. If you can't hear yourself sing, especially in front of 80,000 people, you can't perform.
Please tell me there is a recording of this somewhere?
Rolling Stones - greatest rock band of all time ..... yeah ..... ok ...
Forget the last 40 years, 'Beggars Banquet' to 'Exile on Main Street'= greatest run of albums by any band in history...
Incredible
That's Bob dylan
Those kinda stories are why I live live music shows!! Hahaha you NEVER know what you’re going to see!
This would be cool on Bob's part except that he agreed to go on stage, made the effort of matching Mick's wardrobe, stood at a designated microphone & basically fucked up. Bob Dylan makes me proud to be from Wisconsin.
Apparently the Stones didn't take Bob's direction for this song.
Chris seems really normal and friendly here. He must be on his meds.
I am actually surprised the Robinson brothers are in the same room together let alone Dylan flipping off the Stones.
Well, the tour hasn't officially started yet.
2:14 😂👏
I dont get it - dylan was upset because Jagger had the same outfit on?
Who knows? Maybe Bob wanted it in a different key? Maybe he just didn’t want to sing the song. Bob is a mysterious dude.
Dylan woulda been pissed because they weren't following his vocal and they don't improvise and don't jam anymore.
He notoriously changes keys on songs, does a different arrangement all of a sudden or starts singing different words. I think he likes to keep things fresh and keep people on their toes and it's sort of a loose and free kind of thing. Which he's tried to be his whole life. A slightly eccentric, but real poet
He was probably annoyed at pretty much being told how to perform his own song.
Id suggest Bob saw what Mick was wearing and copied to mock him, the outfit sounds very un Dylan like.
Welcome back!
Howard needs to get Dylan in there.
lmao that Keith impersonation!!
a friend of mine ran into Chris Robinson on the streets of San Francisco years ago. He looked at him and said "Hi Chris Robinson!" Christ looked back, flipped him off, and said "fuck you man" :)
Good stuff
Never got people's attraction to Bob Dylan.
Cloud Run hmm you seem so interesting
Cloud Run yeah his nasally voice is a little much.
Then you never will. If you appreciated genius song writing then you would, trust me.
Bob has a very different timing when he does his songs of course. He probably still gets thrown off every time he does it with the Stones. 🤪
That makes no sense. He has been a 'professional' musician for more than half a century. I'm a crap musician and wouldn't have an issue with "different timing".
Bob won't do shit if he's not comfortable with the band. Read Paul Shaffer's autobiography
I think you will find "The Beatles" are the greatest rock n roll band of all time. But carry on tell your story...
