Normally I find remakes of horror films unnecessary and that the remakes tend to be much lesser than the originals, but here I feel like both versions of Night are as good as each other
I agree. I hate remakes but I love zombie movies
Agree
I like them both not sure which I prefer though.
@@JoeSpaghetti006 1968 version is the best
In memory of George a. Romero 1940 - 2017
Rest in peace he's the one that made me super addicted to zombos
May you rest in peace, The godfather of all zombies
1990 literally feels like a lost Walking Dead pilot movie. It really condenses all the themes and atmosphere within a film's timeframe. I wouldn't be surprised if the show was heavily inspired by this.
Good Point. It def updates the film while while keeping the 60's ideas in check
R.i.p George a.Romero
I love the 1990 remake. Barbara is fantastic
Damn right
I agree. She nailed the role but when she goes tough its even better but Tony Todd really made the film for me but hes always been a brilliant actor
Whoa! Barbra's A Badass In 1990
Ikr and it's more great that she did not died unlike in the original
@@alexnetic6744 and she didnt over act like the Original Barbara either. No wonder she didnt have much of a film career
That damn body prop at 0:41 kills me lol
The original still had Ben alive til morning. The remake sadly zombified him by daytime despite being unbitten. Walking Dead probably mustve got the idea from here of zombifying people without getting bit just as long as they get mortally wounded.
very happy to have both films in my collection.
The remake is great; I love that Barbara's the badass "final girl" in it. I also love the twist diversion from the original ending (***SPOILERS***) -- Cooper actually survives; he sees Barbara and tries to "bond" with her. Barbara doesn't say anything -- she just aims her gun and puts a bullet in Cooper's head. When someone comes around to see what happens, Barbara gets the last line: "That's another one for the fire".
I love Tom Savini and George A Romero was my favourite director as a kid(I was born in the late 80’s but I loved movies from the 50-70’s) after I saw the first Night of the Living Dead I fell in love with zombies and still love the genre today! But over the entirety of my life thus far I STILL haven’t ever seen the remake of this movie... mainly because I never thought a remake of any of Romero’s movies could be “as good” as his originals (DawnOTDead, DayOTDead, The Crasies.. Which I had the vhs that started out Code Name Trixie). But this looks like there are a lot of attempts to shot for shot this and I think I’m gunna buy it tonight, would anyone, without spoiling any changes, recommended against seeing this? Still gun shy after all those other terrible Day of the Dead remakes....
They changed some story beats, the biggest change is Barbara. They turnt her from a coward to a badass in the remake
Remake because Barbara is portrayed as a much stronger character than in the original. While in that film she slowly faded into the background as a whimpering mess, in this film she takes centre stage and remains one of leads throughout. This was a nice touch,With Tom Savini at the helm, you know for damn sure that the practical gore effects on hand are going to be bloody great! Of course, the dude does not disappoint as we are treated to a wide, icky array of festering zombie flesh which truly ups their scary factor. The attacks are equally violent and do not shy away from letting the red stuff fly!
The ending of the Remake was slightly more interesting in the sense it had been completely changed.
Thanks to the great makeup effects, we do get some pretty neat jolts out of the remake. There are a few nifty jump scares that occur when an undead fiend pops up suddenly out of nowhere. The fierceness of the zombies is much more intense which does make for a scary enough experience.
Night of the Living Dead was actually Tom Savini's film directorial debut. Talk about pressure! Nevertheless, I think he still did an admirable job honoring the classic that came before. It probably helps that Romero wrote the script. Savini excells best at his zombie direction, allowing the walkers to come off as pretty darn frightening. The film has a pretty solid flow of tension once it gets going as the zombies start attacking the house.
In this version Harry shoots Ben and hides in the attic. Ben then locks himself in the cellar while Barbara goes in search of help. When she returns she finds Ben has transformed into one of the undead and that Harry is still alive. She quickly shoots Harry and his body is burnt.
Well i did agree with you on the Barbara character being tougher in the remake the original movie is still the best in my opinion 🎉
Great vid keep up the good work I'm glad you done a vid on these to Horror Flicks because they are so good well done again
I like the 1968 version better
Same here awesomegirl5🙃
They really just shot the black guy while he was alive
Cool video!, keep up the good work
Both amazing but the remake edges the original just based on character development
I liked that young lady in old one. She is very memorable somehow XD
The 1990 remake rules!! I saw it in its theatrical release and really scared the shit out of me....
It would have been better if it was in black and white📼
great video
Nice video bro
Dawn of the dead 1978 was very good and remake was good too, but it was much more different which I really liked. This one was not my favorite but props for being on of the genre starters
😊hated the dawn of the dead remake
It's 22 years different between the original and the remake versions of The Night of the Living Dead. 🎃🇺🇲👏🏻
I do legitimately love how in the 1990 remake Barbara’s more of a Competent and Capable person like Ellen Ripley and NOT some Obnoxious Damsel like in the Original 1968 version.
Do you by any chance have a side by side Dawn of the Dead 1978 & 2004 or Day of the Dead 1985 & 2008
One the best remakes movies of all time.
Never knew they made a 1990 version
Johnny: [in a creepy voice] They're coming to get you, Barbara!
Barbara: Stop it! You're ignorant!
Johnny: They're coming for you, Barbara!
Barbara: Stop it! You're acting like a child!
Johnny: They're coming for you!
[points to the cemetery zombie]
Johnny: Look, there comes one of them now!
Barbara: He'll hear you!
Johnny: Here he comes now! I'm getting out of here!
1968 version is the best in my opinion 🤗
Great video! In my opinion the remake is better than the original movie. A pity that Tom Savini's version is always in the shadow of Romero's film.
It's Romero's movie. Lol
This is one of the remake film that is better than original...
'1990👍👍👍
4:04 That Zombie was a Bit more ready for 69 then the other haha
1990 may be the best zombie movie of all time. Just something creepy about how they did the makeup in that movie. It isn't overly done. They legit look dead. The movie was also done at the right time. It's not so high definition it looks fake. It's got that creepy perfect resolution and color to it. Number one in my opinion as the best zombie film of all time. Tom Savini is a legend. So is Russo and Romero
Well it’s a good remake ❤
👍👍
hit
Og is better in atmosphere
I like the original much better....the b&w makes it all much more horrifying
@Barb Khan I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only one that likes the 1968 version over the remake. Over the years I've heard most people say that they preferred the remake over the original because the original was filmed in B&W, and the fact that the character Barbara was kick ass and not afraid. The original to me was far better because it was much scarier and seemed like a nightmare whereas the remake was way too over the top and the acting at times was ridiculous. In reality I would think that after seeing her brother killed and have no clue what is going on, or what caused the dead to be reanimated would be closer the way Barbara would have acted in the 1968 version. The original's budget was far, far less than the remake and they created an instant classic with what little they had.
There’s a color version on Amazon Prime video
Michael Lynes b/w>>>>colored
@@1959blantz Same here!😃
I love the original, but I enjoy the remake more because Barbara is no longer a passive victim, but a kickass woman ready to fight for her life. I hate that Ben still dies, but at least he wasn't assassinated by possible racists. He became a zombie because he was betrayed by a cowardly human, which proves that no monster is more terrible than a human who turns on their own kind to save their skin. At least Barbara had the satisfaction of shooting him and telling the rest of the search party, "That's another one for the fire."
Original is better, but temake has better Barbara and better ending sequence.
Though the same thing 🪫
I think the only thing the original does better is The Camerawork.
Yeah they’re dead, they’re all messed up
The 1990 is way better than the original It is kind of weird because usually remakes are actually garbage.
True i love both the original & 1990 remake equal.
Only 7 minutes?? O....k.
👍👍👍'1990
Its so unfair, barbra 1968 is dead and 1990 version is alive
It's Bc in The Original Script
Barbara Survives she Goes Crazy
And becomes mentally unstable
Then she is sent to a psychiatrist where she calms down
George A Remero Changed it where they all die
@@shaynadavis11 In original script there was also white Ben and Sheriff got from Barbara that Ben was not a zombie (called "ghoul" at that time).
Original movie is the best in my opinion but the remake was good though📺😊
I like the remake of the movie. The 1990 version's much better
Original is the best
Agreed ❤
I found the 1990 remake was faithful to the Original but added better ideas and also the fate of Barbara making her tough at the end but she ends up disturbed by the end shot I hated the Original actress who played her and she was just as terrible in that souls movie plus ben's fate was better done as a zombie. The Original is a fave don't get me wrong but Savini made it his own while showing not only respect to Romero but his own ideas as well
👍👍👍'1990©️®️👁️👁️
ME GUSTA MAS LA REMAKE DE 1990, BARBARA ES LA MEJOR ! ! !
😊1968 original is the best
I always don't like barbara in original.
The 1990 version is better
1990 is way better.
