Man FF7 Rebirth, FF14 Dawntrail and FF16 dlc ALL in one year, what a time to be an FF fan. And the reveal of that city was so out of nowhere no one would've thought we'd see something like that in FF14
"we are loudly destroying any mental image of what you had in Dawntrail" is putting it mildly. I was on "WTF IS GOING ON" the whole time, including the cosmic exploration. Like really, wtf is going on! It definitely increased my excitement and curiosity for Dawntrail MSQ. I mean I was going to play it anyway, enjoy it and complete it without any high expectations, but now I'm reeeeally excited.
Same, I was on board for the vacation premise and I always maintain faith in the creators after having my mind changed initially playing SB/EW and realizing how good this game truly can be. But I have to be honest to myself and admit that part of me was a bit underwhelmed that one I was finally onboard and ready to be exited with everyone else for the next expansion. That expansion turns out to be the one with the fewest stakes and memorable setting. But now I'm hyped to find out where this will go. Feels like they are setting up a whole new interesting multiple expansion arc right from the get go.
The keynote was so badass. I loved everything about it. I love old fantasy settings, and I love futuristic settings. I never thought I'd see a game blend both together so well. That theme is such an earworm, too. I've watched the trailer half a dozen times already, and I can't wait for the covers. I love the heavier guitars, Amanda's vocal parts, just the whole vibe. I went into the keynote thinking I knew exactly how Dawntrail would go, and left feeling like I have no fucking idea, and I LOVE that feeling.
I like how they are playing into the contrast of these things pretty heavily. Probably also narrative wise and such. If they can make the switch to not be to jarring it could really be a memorable expansion adventure.
This Dawntrail stuff is getting me in a pretty good mood. That is XIV's most enduring quality. It doesn't matter what other games I'm looking forward to, I know XIV is like a home to come back to. What a feeling to have towards a single game.
Hey NSP! Glad to see you're doing great!❤😊 It has been a while! Thanks for uploading your reaction to this mind boggling trailer. The most exciting thing I can't wait to discover aside from the story, new jobs, and music, will be how a city such as Solution 9 will be blended and connected to the tropical islands of Toural and the Golden city!😂❤❤The contrast is just too great to be ignored!😂
I was reacting the same way to the Pictomancer reveal, like I love the way the job looks, but the music gave me total whiplash with how much it slayed. Really sets the tone for this uplifting and energetic expansion.
As someone who’s childhood was City of Heroes/Villains, seeing the only other mmo I’ve ever loved have a futuristic city I can maybe fly around in like I did as a kid makes me sooooo happy. City of Heroes being shut down left a whole in my heart (and radicalized me against capitalism before I knew the words to say that lol), that nothings ever filled, but 14’s come closest. I think having a big city like that might be all I need. Altho id also really love to be able to customize the colors of your powers visual effects like CoH. That was awesome for living out your head cannons about your own powers and such. I’m sold, gotta get my sub back and play thru the most recent expansions by summer lol
Many stated Pictomancer, but I thought Green Mage or some kind of nature based Job like Druid/Shaman welp i shoulda listened. Solution 9 and Arcadion are my fav zones shown, look like a cities from Star Ocean and Cyberpunk 2077, absolutely love it. Wanted FF17 to go full magic sci-fi like this 🎉
The fact that they’ve already revealed something like Solution 9 and knowing they leave the more crazy stuff out of the early reveals is mind blowing. We’re going to be in for a wild ride.
Would be cool if this civilization turns out to be on another planet or shard. And the latter 2 or so zones take you there.. So far they've shown 3 zones if I recall? That's half an expansion. The other half could literally take place elsewhere..
@@mikev8746 No, we have more from the other fan festival: Urqopacha, Yak T'el, Kozama'uka, Shaaloani, and Heritage Found as regions and Tuliyollal and Solution Nine as cities. So there is just one last zone left, which they will probably not show us. Nonetheless, I would not be against the idea that Solution nine and Heritage found are actually located on another shard.
@@KAvanAlten Right, I also figured that out later after writing my comment. So I guess we will have that last zone probably be something whack like SB and EW's final zone was. Would be cool if that was as we discussed on another shard (or world). I see it as plausible. Not so sure if thats the case for Solution Nine and Heritage Found given the former was on the world map and the latter seems to have strong influences from the cultures on that continent, clashing with the modern stuff.
I dont mind one area being high tech. Some games hace one high tech city that either falls to the player or is already broken and we switch stuff on. Based on how much upfront is already fantasy i dont see much tech leaving the region
Damn you're fast! Also I'm glad you dig the music. The mixing and some of the musical transitions felt off to me, like the part where Estinien jumps and transitions to the steak. Or the low background female vocals that was kind of hard to hear and didn't feel like it supported the rest of the music at that part. Super happy to see Krile take a more active role though!
Music sounds pretty mid-tier to me. I particularly am not a fan of the random vocal stuff. The snares in one of the songs sounded pretty atrocious but the stream could make things sound worse.
@@VelvetSanity iirc they should be like a year at most from when elezen have their growth spurts, so we should be expecting tallphanaud sooner or later. It'll actually be kinda cool to seem the twins towering over ~70% of the playerbase.
Keep getting WoW Blizzcon vibes from back in the old days where it was actually exciting seeing the new expansion slowly revealed and imagining all the adventures you would be having in the new setting. That just goes to show that some things may end but often than not another thing comes to take its place. May the reign of FF14 be long and fruitful before it's eventual diminishing.
Not really sure how they're gonna continue the story of Final Fantasy XIV after Endwalker, but considering how much a banger the entirety of Final Fantasy XIV has been, they'd have to hit another homer out the park.
I was lukewarm regarding the setting until they showed this cyberpunk style area that has apparently also ascian references. Pictomancer looks interesting, field operation zones are back, ishgard style restoration but in space! just wow :D
the first civilisation was really advanced befor the world was destroyed so the solution 9 is maybe a vision from the past? this trailer really make me whant to come back but there is to much game soon that i want to play T-T
Sol9 probably Hythlodaeus contingency if Venat's plan fails. Kind of his Amaurot. Emet's is in the first, Hythlodaeus built his in the Source. Maybe. Solution Nine If solutions 1 to 8 don't solve it. Or a rogue Meteion succesfully finding a ninth solution that does not involve annihilating everything. or the aethryte looks like an Allagan Tomestone, probably Allagan. But the peaceful ones who tried to defy or run away from Xande. Or it's a Zanarkand thing but instead of summoners, it's ancient ascian pictomancers dreaming up Amaurot or what it could have been. But WoL has to stop their dreaming and let them rest because they know now the world is at peace.
I actually hate that trailer song. Makes it really hard to enjoy anything in the trailer unlike previous XIV trailers. Why are the male vocals so out of tune?
This new location adds to my worry about this new expansion. Why is to so advanced compared to everywhere else. Is it a shard? I'm not a fan of the new jobs either. Viper feels like a class that's supposed to turn into a job and Pictomancer (while cool) feels like it's far to inspired by splatoon. The animations look like they won't mesh with the rest of the jobs but time will tell. Overall, as always it's very impressive but I'm left wanting when it comes to the meat and potatoes of it all.
Well of course you're left wanting, they haven't even shown you how either of these jobs actually play yet. I'm not sure how anyone could judge how either of these fit into the game without seeing that. Though I'm sure that part's fine because it's designed to.
I am not a fan of the futuristic stuff. I'm fine with the more steampunk, magitek fantasy tech stuff in Final Fantasy, but the modern/futuristic things clash with the fantasy elements for me. I can tolerate it to a certain extent, so I'm hoping it's not a big part of the story.
@AvengingFossil I may drop off this expansion. I was ok with where Endwalker went as a one off, but if Sci-Fi is the direction we're heading in, I'll just call Endwalker the end of my FFXIV journey.
Same here i can like it when it's a theme focused thing but not the mix that being said it makes a bit of sense for XIV since there have been ancient civilizations that have died out and the new regions could be pretty far away
How can people maintain interest in one game for so long? I’ve never played this game, but I just don’t understand how people can still be excited for this
