Hello, Sophie. Native New Yorker here. I love that you're planning to come to the U.S. for holiday. That said, you might want to do some research, if you haven't already, on the current state of NYC if that's where you plan on vacationing during your trip. NYC has changed drastically in the last couple of years and unfortunately not for the better. Just as an example, our governor is sending the national guard to the subway system due to a dramatic increase in violent crime. NYC has SO much to offer but you should be fully informed before you come so you know what to expect. And, don't forget, there are many other wonderful places in NY to visit too. Agree. Also she mentioned she wanted to come in the winter to get away from the darkness. And I'm thinking oh no... she's not going to enjoy the harsh winter in nyc! It gets real cold and dark in the winter too. Not to mention Las Vegas gets cold too at night during winter due to the dessert conditions.

@@SophieShohetOfficialVegas will definitely still be warm in autumn! But the desert air is cold at night most of the year. No biggie; everyone races from place to place after dark anyway. It’ll feel like nothing coming from UK!
@SophieShohetOfficial I was in Las Vegas in October 2019 for a wedding. It was nice during the day. Definitely not warm enough for a bathing suit by the pool though. But I could wear a sleeveless dress and sandals with no problem. However, at night I definitely needed a jacket. I didn't bring one and regretted it. But a small cropped coat or lightweight leather jacket would have been perfect.
The Constance will always be there! Do the trip the way you want it to be! Now is the moment! ❤
Do what makes your heart sing. I travelled before I bought luxury, and am so glad I did. Travel gave me perspective, and helped me see a different point of view. Combining travel with luxury....now that's the ultimate!
Me too. Real travel - not a 2 week holiday - is the best eye opener and we leave a little piece of our heart with the special people we met. True luxury.
No bag is worth that cost. You and David creating memories is worth everything.
Long time ago Hermes lost it’s exclusivity, so there is no reason to pay so much and go through such a humiliating process 😉
If you are getting that feeling about the Constance I think it’s because you don’t love it with all your heart, if I get offered a birkin now I would jump on it without any doubt bc that’s my dream bag since I was very young!

I have a question. Since you have been talking about not wanting to wear expensive bags when going places in fear of getting robbed, where would you wear the Constance?! Would that be a shelf only bag or a constant anxiety bag? If Chanel and Dior are too expensive to be worn in places, how about Hermes?! I don't own any luxury bags but I love watching your videos❤
I honestly don’t think any bag is worth that much. I don’t begrudge anyone their dream bag but for £10000 you can buy a lot of stuff for yourself or others that will have a real impact on someone’s life. You can buy an entire education for that money. You can’t eat the bag, the bag doesn’t give you shelter or health or knowledge or experience. It’s a lot of money.
10k is only 1 term at a private school so it’s not really buying an entire education.
I agree, some influencers haven’t bought their apartment or paid up a mortgage yet they get in debt for that. Anyone can do what they wish but not in recession times, yet I see influencers buying Chanel despite the high increases…
@@dva5610 you can do a few courses for a lot less than £10k. These courses can enable you to get a salary of over £10k a month. For £10k (actually less) I become an accountant.
£10k is a substantial amount. Especially for rich people who have earned their money and care about money. But its a substantial amount for people earning minimum wage who cant make endes meet. Only pretentious idiots scoff at £10k.
@@dva5610 that would be the most expensive education money can buy in a first world country with high fees for schools and university. Not that you’re wrong but it’s a very narrow view.
In the states you get your associates degree at community college and become a registered nurse.
I’ve been researching Hermes lately and it really skewed my perception of money (AND I’M A BUDGET SPREADSHEETS LOVER GIRLY). I needed a reality check with myself because suddenly $6k felt like nothing “BECAUSE ITS HERMES”. I was willing to spend that amount of money (maybe even more) on a bag that came on the Hermes website that wasn’t the size or leather I wanted (non- quota bag). That makes absolutely no sense!!! $6k on a bag is 3 months of rent for me!!!
I will still look online because I like the thrill of researching Hermes apparently but financially it wouldn’t make any sense for me to buy it.
The thing is, you have so many bags! Holidays seem more important to me, also. Thank you for the video!
Those Dior ballet flats are very adorable. Although I'm certain there are going to be dupes, so I'd would rather get something of a similar look
Hi Sophie, for me it would be the Constance and the single bracelet that matches your earrings. Classics. However, I would draw the line there and forget the other pieces you mention and then double down for your holiday plans. ❤
I went through the luxury bag phase when they were oh so much less costly, got rid of most years ago although still have a few because that bug doesn't go completely away. But invested well from the bags I sold and have been doing luxury travel since. Much more memorable.
I love those Fendi boots! Just something to consider: skip Las Vegas and go to New Orleans after New York. Las Vegas is cheesy and plastic. New Orleans is delightful with excellent food, music and shopping.
I've kind of fallen out of designer goods for a few years now. But I keep watching your videos because I love them! Enjoying moments in life is more important to me right now.
Travel is my #1 love. One can always buy a bag but may not always be physically able to travel. When we first got married we agreed that we would travel the world as much as we could afford, instead of waiting until retirement. We are now 70 and have zero regrets.
Sophie… here’s what I will do.. I will buy the Constance with my card then get the mileage points I earn from that transaction, put it towards my travel.. then sell the bag after a few use 😜
I would wait to purchase the bag and enjoy your holiday with your husband. Spending time with him and have a new shared experience is worth more than a handbag.
Let it GO! Put the $$ toward your experiences either David! That will be more important than another bag…. Some of these “things” have just become ridiculous in price.
Even if I was in your income bracket- I would never spend more than 4K USD on a bag. Let alone 10K+- it’s a waste TBH. Now a vacation or experience- that’s where it’s at! Memories and knowledge you gain is priceless ❤❤❤
While I do enjoy nice things, I've tended to prefer experiences more than material items these days. I've been enjoying travel lately and have a trip planned to Europe (London and Paris) with my older son towards the end of the year. I feel so blessed to be in a position to do these things as it has been a long time coming.
Sophie, second thoughts about purchasing something lead to buyer's remorse. That money could go to creating memories while on a holiday with David, a family member, or friend. I've known of aged people with memory issues and their memories were never about things but special moments with loved ones.
I can completely relate to you in your struggle with the Constance and luxury spending in general. I’m also looking to put more money towards travel and home improvements this year instead of luxury. It was refreshing to hear you say the same as well. The Constance will always be there whenever you’re ready for it, but the memories of your trip will be more treasured in the long run. I’d let the bag go for now. ❤
Hi Sophie. Great video as always. I was lucky enough to get a walk in appointment in Hermes Paris last year and got the Constance. As I got the VAT back it cost around £5600 which I realise is still a lot of money but cheaper then resale or if I got it here. It is a lovely bag and I use it loads. I’m sure it will remain a classic so you can get it anytime you feel is right for you.
Hi Sophie! I have the Constance 18 and it is one of my most used bags. I love it and so glad I have it. I don’t normally repeat bags, but I would like another one. I think from all your items on your wishlist, I think the Constance would be a good buy, personally. The other things, I would save my money for your incredible trip! At the end of the day, trips and memories are priceless. Maybe you can get a Constance whilst in NYC! ❤

Money spent on travel is money well spent! The experience you will have far outweighs the thrill of a new bag (the bag can wait!) x
I would say go for the trip. If you are having second thoughts about the Constance, it's probably not the time to buy. If your heart is not into it completely, get it another time.
I had my first experience shopping at Hermes. The SAs were very helpful and pleasant to me. My first purchase is a fragrance and I am very happy. Now I have an account and creating a history. Someday in the future I will look at requesting a bag❤

I think I've seen the UA-cam video you're talking about. The bags seemed more durable than I expected. The constance isn't my style. You don't need to feel rushed about it, as they haven't contacted you yet (and may not this year). If one does come in for you, I say see it in person. That way, you'll know exactly what you're turning down if you choose to do so. You may pick it up and never want to put it down
If you haven't already, you may want to talk it over with David. He seems to know your style so well! I understand not wanting to skimp on your vacation, and his broader perspective may put things into focus
Hotel suggestion for Las Vegas: the Encore tower suite at the Wynn. Very large and elegant, you will love it!
Hi Sophie!! The Constance is lovely, but I think travelling in the style you and David want is a much better way to spend your money. The bag will always be there, whether you play games with Hermes or not. You also won’t need to worry when you wear it that someone might want to steal it!! Love you!!💕💕💕💕💫
Most of the pools in Vegas are open until mid-October and the weather is generally pretty good. We go at least 3 times a year and always have a great time. Make sure to make your dinner reservations before you go, it can be very difficult to get into a popular restaurant otherwise. Your hotel concierge can help with that too. NYC is having a hard time right now and it is not pleasant weatherwise at time of year either. That's a hard decision to make regarding the Hermes, especially since it is very rare and hard to find. But I've found too that there will always be another thing you want around the corner.
I'm not into the Constance so it would be an easy decision for me to choose the trip over the bag. Theres always some other bag that you end up falling in love with and by the time they offer the Constance to you, you may have already lost interest in it!
I have 2 elderly parents in their 80s who can't travel any more and my mum is always saying how glad she was to have travelled so much in their younger days.
Ar the end of the day its only a bag and you already have many many beautiful bags. The trip will give you memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Tbh, where you stand re how you wish to spend your money going forward, applies to everything in life. Wishing you a fabulous trip. Bags and even coats (like the one from Fendi on your wishlist) can always be bought along the way.
I'd be really tempted to go look at the bag, especially if I'm unsure, as you are now, to see how I feel about it. But I get you, the trip you're planning will be AMAZING!! No bag could take its place.
The jacket is absolutely your style, go for it. The Dior flats are made like pointe shoes, with the flat platform to balance on, they're so cute!
I’ve bought a Neous Phoenix bag (inspired by Constance and Celine box) in burgundy and I am super happy.
You can do biz class and use the savings towards the bag. IMO first class is not necessary unless you value a lot of privacy, like a celebrity for example.
I think experiences are great goals to save up for so i'm with you on a fancy holiday. Regarding the Constance I just think its has such diminishing returns for that price and style. Unless you must have that "H" on it there is nothing substantially better about it compared to something like the Celine Triomphe which is so much less, especially the vintage ones that have a classic minimal look.
as an avgeek, i wouldn't pay for first class across the pond as the hard product is not worth it! (some business class seats are even better than first class products across the pond). would absolutely recommend a trip in first class with middle eastern carriers instead x
new york and las vegas is a great combo! you're gonna have a great time over there, i think nyc will definitely fit your vibe, everyone is so nice and complimentary and las vegas is just loads of fun with lots to do and the resorts are excellent

While I believe that the Constance is beautiful… I also believe that there are an ABUNDANT amount of bags that have its same shape (with the only difference being the front closure). You’ve talked about lots of very similar bags from different brands. I think you should just entertain getting one of those, like the Celine box bag. It’ll be a better price range and you’ll have money leftover for a holiday

Sophie, in my earlier years, I would say get it!!! However, I am excited to hear about your travels to New York and Las Vegas! I spent a month last year traveling to Italy and it was first class and cost me USD 35K. I then wanted to travel to Paris and London in November and gave myself a budget for hotels, transportation, and airfare at USD 15K. I did give myself a budget of $10K for shopping though. I would wait and know you will have the beautiful Hermes Constance bag in your collection!!!

Hi Sophie, I am a born and raised New Yorker. You should definately visit NY. I would not necessarily go into the "tube" subway, but if you uber or yellow cab or walk to different areas you will be fine. New York is still a great city and has amazing places to see, shop and eat at. I work near Saks and there are always tons of tourist and people everywhere. I would suggest staying or hanging out downtown, in the Soho or Tribeca area. As for the Constance bag. I am blessed to have a nice Hermes bag collection. I will tell you this, everytime I had wanted a "dream bag" and I settled for something else, I always go back to wanting my "dream bag" again. Yes, it's expensive but worth it. It is an investment in you. To be honest, I would never pay that kind of money for Chanel. Reach out to me if you need any more visiting advise. I am more than happy to assist you. Hi Sophie you should prioritise going on holiday because work commitments, health, family, wars amongst so many other things can stop you from travelling, so take the opportunity while you can. When it comes to luxury goods buy what you really really really want to buy, but get it when your 100% happy to get it. We will still happily watch your videos because you are an interesting person to listen to and I don’t just watch for your luxury content.👌🏽 PS; can you make a video of you saying yes or no to Hermes cos both would be brilliant to watch!

I don’t have tons of money but when I am able to travel I travel well. Stay in b&b or great hotel.
I have a few places in Paris AB&B that I love.
Planning well allows you to be spontaneous.
I never regret $ spent on experiences.

Definitely get an everyday bracelet. I have a platinum paperclip bracelet that only gets taken off to clean it and if I’m doing something that I think would probably damage it.

I agree with you Sophie. there are so many ateliers out there who make Premium high quality merchandise that you can get for so much less.. Just because it has Hermes stamped on it doesn't mean it is worth that price. I also would rather take a first class holiday before that price for a bag.

I agree with you. And I am also moving from luxury bag loving (buying Hermes Chanel etc) to spending money towards vacation and eating really well (Michelin restaurants.) I am also opening up to the preloved market. I haven’t purchased anything yet but I’m a bit sick of playing the game at the store. Anyways it’s been great for me thus far not getting luxury bags. 😅

Hi Sophie! As a native NYer and love good food with friends…and luxury, I think the trip to NYC is wonderful! Please let me know if you need recommendations on restaurants! Personally recommend Singapore Airlines- business class is significantly cheaper than first but the service is just as amazing. Just flew SQ to HK and Singapore myself!

PPS: Las Vegas Premium Outlets is great! They have the only Oliver Peoples outlet in the country if not the world. I even seen the Brunello Cucinelli line collab there!
I am not an Hermes fan at all, however, out of all their bags I do like the look of the Constance. Personally I prefer similar shaped bags in Prada or Celine but they are just not as enticing to me as Fendi. The thing is that the heart wants what the heart wants! If you have the will-power to buy it new and flip it after a month or two I think that would be a great compromise and hopefully a little extra money towards your travel fund. I keep a photo Wishlist in my notes on my phone and I find that helps me clarify my priorities and measure my desire for a new item against my existing list 🤣
I would say skip the bag. Scheduling vacations are usually more difficult and don't always happen. The constance will most likely be around to buy new or pre loved if not something better will come out.
Sophie, have you considered to save some money every month for the Constance that you really want? You don’t know how many days, months, years you going to wait for the message. I did this when I was feeling the same way about a specific AP watch.
I buy Idyl pieces and have been wearing them for about 2 years now. I love them. I own about 4 pieces and I just purchased the pendant necklace and it cam about 15 minutes ago lol.❤❤❤❤ I plan on buying a bracelet this Christmas.

If you absolutely love the Constance, get it and don’t get the other things you mentioned. Put that money towards the trip.
Or, See if you can sell a bag to pay for the Constance or part of it. That’s if you really like it of course. The prices are going to continue to go up so even though the bag will still be there, it’ll cost more.
Other alternatives to the Constance are the Celine Triomphe and the Celine Box which is discontinued but you can still find some in very good or new condition.
I sold 3 of my handbags to get a Kelly 25. Crazy but I don’t miss the other bags and don’t regret it. It worked for me.
By the way I love your necklace, is it an elephant? I can’t tell.
I’m in my 70s, and I think experiences, travel, and people are the best way to spend money. I did just buy the new Le Pliage xtra s (tube shape $325) because it’s cute and very reasonable. Travel is the best!

The trip you share with your spouse, would you be happy looking at the bag and say that could gave been the 1st class upgrade. For my flught is important the hotel i can down grade. So see if you can adjust the travel budget to fit both, or decided which experience your willing defer, will a different bag work or is it that one, how important is the 5 star hotel, ect. Me personally the trip.

I think a lot of people are going through the same transformation that you are. There is so much going on in the world that is much more important. You will always be able to buy a Constance. I would plan for the trip. Who knows there are at least 3 Hermes stores in Vegas you might get lucky and get one there. Unless it is a very special bag I would say pass and do your trip.

Hi Sophie! I feel like u should definitely get it if ur offered since u can afford it! Also you can get your money back by selling it in the future if u decide to! But getting offered is really difficult in the first place so i feel u shouldn’t pass the opportunity! Also a bag u can keep forever but the first class tickets one last like 10hrs 😂

I say Pass on the bag. Life is so short and I would give up all my possessions to have my husband back where we could go on a trip and have a Wonderful time. We use to go 3 to 4 times a year to Las Vegas and had so much fun. One year I bought really good tickets to see the Rolling Stones in Las Vegas. it was so memorable and he thanked me over and over for the trip. Your adoring husband is more precious than any bag. Just my opinion!
I got a birkin for my 23rd birthday last November and it’s one of my favorite bags. It was either that or an expensive trip and I ultimately chose my bag because I am a homebody and if I don’t want to go somewhere at a certain time, I’ll likely go the next year or even the following. Living in America, just traveling from state to state is fun. We have so much to offer food, shopping, and and scenery wise. I’ve been out the country a multitude of times but I find that traveling to different states is more fun for me rather than abroad. There are a couple more places abroad I would like to go to and I will, but I have so much time to plan those trips.
Bracelets: Yes, you will get a lot of use out of them.
Jacket: This won´t date well or rather it will date well thus looking dated in a few years. That is fine though if you don´t mind that possible outcome.
Boots: Not a fan personally
Dior flats: Yes, these are fun, inspired and so pretty
Constanze: No. You can still get this later if you still want it later. Lean into your heart and embrace this change within yourself. It is here for a reason.
Travel: You never know what life will do and what the world will do and what your health will do. There´s a German saying "you should celebrate the parties as they happen to come". Travelling with David like you dream will be a celebration of your life together, the ability is now and now is the time to do it.
If you buy a "dupe" could be a Celine box or something similar you might realize whether this shape/kind of bag works for you. I thought so and got a Kate Spade that's the same shape/size and realized it's too boxy for me crossbody and too small I would only wear it in the summer so not versatile enough for me. My life is also changing soon and I'll need much bigger bags so I let go of the idea of the Constance and got me an Evelyn 29? I think that's the size it's a large one. And works well for winter and since not so expensive I haven't worried about it in the snow or a bit of rain. I didn't have to wait to be offered one and I got the color I wanted so it turned out real well for me

Hi dear , I m definitely very sensitive to the way I m treated when I buy luxury items .. And to be very frank with you I don t enjoy luxury shopping as much as I used to .. And I have been shopping for 20 years .. I find them less helpful , sometimes a bit arrogant .. At Chanel for example I can see a huge difference in quality service ..
