A video on the best neighborhoods for black single millennials to live in would be appreciated 💯
yes! and single black parents as well!
We JUST moved to the Mooresville/Huntersville area! As a woman of color, it does lack a little on the diverse side compared to most areas of Charlotte, but trust and believe, the color melting pot is rolling in! We get to be in close proximity but not deal with higher crime and lower ranking schools of the city! AND it’s truly beautiful all around LKN! To the lady with the 1 star review, c’mon back and try again sista; when they stick their noses up, you simply go on and enjoy your day! 🥰
I just moved from that area to the Highland Creek area a few weeks ago. I can deal with the lack of diversity and toxicity, but couldn't put my child through that anymore. I feel like I've lost weight! Peace of mind is priceless.
Oh yeah, North lake Mall. That's where I want to be on a Saturday night.
Do you mind elaborating, on your thoughts regarding diversity? Is it regarding activities etc?
I used to live in Mooresville growing up. There was so much to do, so many opportunities, so much to learn. We were a middle to low class family so I was bullied in school for hand-me-down clothes, book bag, etc but it was still a great overall environment. We had a little old boat that we loved to take family days out on across LKN. It wasn't diverse (we moved out in 2017 for medical reasons so that may have changed) but I loved it there. For reference, I am Swedish (European), so I was in the majority ethnically.
Me and my family of 4 multi race kids plan on moving to the area. Being a black male I’m looking for exactly what your talking about but also making sure my kids are protected as much as possible…thx u for your analysis
I’m African American and have lived in the northern part of Mecklenburg County , which includes Huntersville all my life. I have lived in H’ville for 17 years. I have not noticed anyone staring at me here more so than any other place. I frequent the parks at the lake and do a lot of walking there. Birkdale (which is currently going through renovations) is a great place to have dinner, meet friends, etc. Just my opinion, I feel it’s a good place to raise a family.
Ever wondered why, that place is named "Huntersville"? 🤔
I am a Charlotte native and have moved to Fort Mill and love it. Most of my expenses are cheaper (utilities, taxes, insurance on home/car) I did buy a house very close to 77 so I am not feeling that backroad feel but I completely get it. Something to keep in mind especially if you go into to Charlotte for work.
This is the most educational channel for Charlotte, NC.
We will be relocating to Charlotte, NC from Houston, TX in a year.
This video is exactly what I need as we plan to relocate early 2023. Can't wait for part 2!
Me too 2023
Meee to0O! Moving company booked!
I just came back from visiting Charlotte today and I loved it. I’m a woman of color and I didn’t really experience anything weird. Everyone seemed really nice and would spark conversations. I found an area that I loved a lot and planned on relocating there soon.
I came to Huntersville about 6 months ago from NY. I don't feel or see a lot of the things mentioned. It's a little lacking in diversity but it's growing. It's close to most everything i need and for the cost of living it's not a bad area at all.
This is a fantastic video.I’ve the honest conversation about the good and not so good of different areas. Unbiased education for homebuyers. We’ll done Sir Ashley!! Thank you!
She's right about the stares in Huntersville though. Even when I'm visiting friends out there and we kinda hang out...they stare. Ironically I live in Ballentyne and see more black people out here than in Huntersville. I take my daily walk up community house road and or Ballantyne Commons and we (people of color) are really outchea! 😅
Nice!
$$$__
Stares in Huntersville ? I’m a native Charlottean & Huntersville is just an extension of the north side of Charlotte. If you’re getting stares it’s something you’re doing lol Huntersville can technically be around the North Lake area into the town & there are a lot of blacks in the area. If you’re in birkdale village it’s more upscale but I myself a black man with dreadlocks & tatoos never had any issues.
Nah never experienced that, if anything you get dirty looks from other blacks
Thanks
Great video Sir Ashley. I have been wanting to see a video like this. I would love to see about the other areas of metropolitan Charlotte like Monroe, N.C., Gastonia, Kings Mountain, Rock Hill S.C., Kannapolis, China Grove, Belmont, York S.C., Salisbury, Indian Trail, Lancaster S.C. I am definitely want to see a part 2.
Be careful about moving to Gastonia. Home prices will not increase by much. During the 2021 craziness our Gastonian home in a decent neighborhood only went up 5 or 6 percent. Drugs are a problem, and so is crime, so be careful! If you do choose to move here though there are some nice attractions (Botanical Stowe Gardens) and the schools (Robinson Elementary, Highland Tech, Forestview High) are fairly good. Gaston Day is horrible, though, I know from three years of awful experiences.
I'm thinking of moving to the area. I really appreciate a person of color ranking the cities from his own experience. Thank you very much for your insight. Also, yes I have heard of goat yoga :)
Love this video as a former Charlotte / LKN resident of over 20 years, now in Austin. I tell friends that Austin is the Charlotte of Texas 💙
Thank you for watching KB
Semi true
Been living in Charlotte for 17 years it has changed a lot
This one really didn’t disappoint! Genuine negatives and positives!
Thank you for watching and providing feedback! I appreciate it!
I’ve lived in the Charlotte area for 45 years so I’ve seen tremendous growth. These observations are pretty on point. One thing you might comment on is the expense of commuting into Charlotte if you live in Huntersville and work in uptown Charlotte. I77 has free and toll lanes. However during the rush hours the toll lanes are dynamically priced so you might spend up to $15 to $20 for a one way commute from Davidson to uptown if you want to expedite your commute.
Also next to Fort Mill is Tega Cay. I lived there for a number of years and enjoyed the small town feel of a lake side town. Not very diverse and if you’re single you’ll spend a lot of time commuting into Charlotte for social events. However it was very relaxing to come home to and I loved the walking trails and lake access. There are a huge variety of home styles and price points. I maybe jumping the gun and you might highlight in part two.
Great video!
Moving to Mint Hill and I’m glad it’s next to Matthews. I’ve only heard good things about Matthews!
Very accurate about Huntersville/Cornelius/Davidson including the Cancer Cluster issue there. I did alot of work in that area prior to the pandemic and it is beautiful, but I was concerned about the demographics, and would feel out of place there also being single/no kids. I know you've hinted at profiling in the past but you never said where, and I assumed it was in that area.
By the time I got around to shopping for a home I was already stretching my budget for a home in 28078, only Townhomes with HOA's I wasn't interested in. I settled on a older home a few minutes from Matthews for more space and to be closer to Uptown and South Charlotte. I think I made the right choice.
Yeah that eye cancer thing made Huntersville a no go for me.
Just moved to Denver on the other side of Lake Norman from Huntersville.... I am the perfect distance from everything, but there isnt much in the way of diversity here. But I will take that with the peace, quiet, and older folks! hahah
I think everything is subjective. As I get older quiet is important to me. I am close enough to the lake if needed and can get to downtown and airport within 30 mins. But just in the last year the traffic has gotten progressively worse. They need to keep the infrastructure updated with all the development
I’ve watched most NC videos. You’ve done a great job!
I’ve yet to see anything affordable for me as a single parent of 2. In AL I can easily afford a 250k home. Seems like I’m the Carolinas, that’s non existent. Unless it’s a fixer-upper or dump.
I urge to move closer to my sister who’s Ill. She is in Burlington. How about a video for lower cost houses yet great communities to raise a family?
Hey Sir Ashley! Ik gas is high 😬 but I would love a drive thru of the neighborhoods. This was very informative, ty
Hello Mia, thank you for the recommendation. I'm working on it.
We are moving to NC in the next few months. I’m trying to get as much info as possible and this video is great. Love to hear some info about the Quail Hollow area. Some nice condos & townhouses popped up on my feed.
Rhonda-you might want to look around at some other area's beside quail hollow. It's not bad but take a look at Steele Creek it's closer to the SC border and you can go into SC and get cheaper gas! which I do all the time! Anyway Good Luck! your going to love it here!
We lived in ballantyne and Huntersville. Both GREAT areas!
There are soo many complaints on the Nextdoor app about how bad the crime is in Steele Creek. Just my opinion would not recommend it has changed a lot over the years and not for good.
I’m also moving to North Carolina in a few months. What area will be good for a single woman in her 50s?
Can’t wait to see the top 5. Headed down from DC this weekend to start my home search.
I’m a Charlotte native, out of all the ones mentioned in this video I like Matthews and Harrisburg the most but he’s right there’s no entertainment in Harrisburg
Great video, Fort Mill is a beautiful city. My son graduated from Nation Ford High 6/2011. It's a beautiful state of the art school, the teachers & administrators were amazing. Funny thing though, most of them were transplants from Charlotte Schools. It's nice to know Nation Ford still has their A rating. 😊
Nice people there but too expensive way too expensive
@@sterlingpless9280 I purchased a home in Fort Mill 3 years ago and I absolutely love it. It’s convenient to everything. I’ve never smelled the paper mill. I live 3 minutes from 77 with a straight shot 5 minute drive to Charlotte.
Looking to relocate to the Charlotte area your information is critical to our next move please keep us informed
Great video. I've heard of goat yoga and think it would be fun to try at least once; looking forward to Part 2.
Please make a video about seniors moving into the Carolinas
Which neighborhood would you recommend for a young black introvert? I honestly don’t care much about city life and I like places that are calm quiet with not a lot of traffic. Also, a place that is welcoming to Black people. Because I’ve been reading online that there are parts of North Carolina that can be extremely racist towards blacks. I know that there is no perfect place, but I want to purchase a single family home in a decent area.
the paper mill in fort mill is close to indian land SC, i’ve lived in fort mill for
2 years and have never smelled it, i’m 2 exits from charlotte, loving fort mill!
Great video and I’m very interested to see the second part! I’m a home inspector as well we should connect!
Being from PA… yes goat yoga is an actual thing that intrigues people who don’t usually have or grown up w/ animals- esp baby goats who are *adorable, curious climbers (ex. one’s back) …it’s been a trend for at least 5-8 years throughout some other parts of the country- and a good way for caretakers to raise money for farm etc and spread awareness, educate- and let’s face it, spread the ❤️and laughter … which the world needs more of. ~❤️☮️ pS - after much research and travels- I have been looking and weighing options where I want a new change in my life- My moving date is set in 2weeks to officially move to Cornelius! THANK YOU for this and other vids you’ve made! Very informative! ☺️
~😁🙌🙏❤️
Oh lake Norman has a nuclear power plant lake side it's beautiful. Maybe that's where the plums of smoke causing oculus cancer is coming from. The facility is called Mcguire nuclear station. Check it out.
All the towns you just named are all like 20 minutes apart. As a realtor in Atlanta I would feel like I'm in paradise showing homes in the Charlotte Metro. Sometimes I may show a property in the Atlanta Metro that's almost 2 hours from my house and it's still in the metro.
Bruh. I felt you did I really good job.
I plan on moving in August of this year. This will be my first apartment. Do you have any recommendations for apartments or areas for people in their early 20s?
Well Done! Very helpful video to help me determine where to move to in Charlotte (San Diego-Aurora-Charlotte)
Moving there in the next. 4-5 days. Huntersville was my 1st choice
Good video, but Charlotte country day, Charlotte Latin and Charlotte Christian are located in.. You guessed it Charlotte NC, not Matthews!
I enjoy your videos! Just moved to Marvin so am curious if it’ll be on the list.
@Sir Ashley, I appreciate your videos. I've been watching for a while. Do you know of anyone who conducts these types of reviews for Greensboro? I was hoping to move to the CLT area but a recent change in events requires me to stay in Gboro. Thanks for the great content!💪
I need this..I'm a soon to be empty nester & looking for a change
Beach, mountains or Piedmont strongly suggest
You left us in suspense!! Looking forward to part 2 and seeing if our new neighbourhood is on there… 🤞🏻
Ps: goat yoga is so stupid
lol it may be stupid but i still wanna try it

I have never heard of goat yoga!! I'm not animal friendly.
The clip in your video of the "Queen City" sign is in downtown Cincinnati, OH.
I was watching your video and saw an error. Under schools for Harrisburg you listed.Greyfiars classical academy. That school is actually in Matthews, NC address is 2701 Rice Rd, Matthews, NC 28105. They meet in my church facility. Resurrection Presbyterian Church at 2701 Rice Rd, Matthews, NC 28105.
Thank you Jane. I’ll make a note to niche.com … please do the same
I grew up in the suburb of Harrisburg NC Moved to Ballantyne few years ago but looking to possibly move back out to Harrisburg area. Possibly Waxhaw or mineral springs
Which suburb has the most foreigners and is culturally diverse like Atlanta north eastern suburbs?
I wonder if Rock hill and Davidson made the list
Fort Mill is great short commute great schools
Great video Ashley!! Love it!!!
Hi can you do a video for retirees moving to Charlotte NC.
Just curious if Denver NC will make it in part 2?
Wow I grew up playing kickball lol 😆
What do you think about Mint Hill Sir?Thank you
I agree with the statement! I like Huntersville but the people made feel unwelcomed. There are only a handful of areas I felt welcomed and safe in. The further north you go the worst it gets. I definitely don't feel comfortable in Davidson, Cornelius and Mooresville. I also know of others who had similar experiences in these areas.
People will leave you alone, if you don't bother them.
thank you for your honesty
Thanks for sharing king 👏🏾👏🏾
This video was very helpful
NEVER heard of goat yoga prior to this.
Charlotte and surrounding area's have lost everything that made Charlotte great. It's way over priced the traffic is out of control it doesn't matter where you go or what your trying to get done. People in and around Charlotte can't do there job It's impossible to get anything done for incompetent people everywhere.
Can't wait for part 2
Fort mill is South Carolina. And why isn’t weddington on here
Thanks for watching. This is part 1 of the top 10 suburbs of Charlotte. There will be a part two that's coming out later this week. And yes, fort mill is in SC, but it's a suburb of Charlotte
@@advisorSirAshley why isn’t weddington on here? I know the houses like 700k to 1 million or more but they def shoulda made the list. It should be the number 1 suburb.
Huntersville are elite rich people and housing is overpriced you want an apartment there its affordable... Does have Birkdale a nice mall and nice restaurants...
Thank you for watching. While there are rich people in Huntersville, I consider the majority of them to be middle class to upper middle class. Birkdale is really nice and I love some of the restaurants in Huntersville.
@@advisorSirAshley Yeah I didn't mean that they are really rich to me as a whole they are more prosperous than like Columbia... Huntersville has nice restaurants like Shake Shack....
@@advisorSirAshley Kilwins Ice Cream is top notch...
I can speak for Huntersville and the lake. Born and raised in Huntersville NC.
It's not like it was growing up. We loved our neighborhood but I love my Black people for holding it down and keeping gentrification of our neighborhoods at bay. We have lost a lot of land due to Charlotte moving in. We had no crime, We could leave our doors unlocked and we could run and play all day long. We had fun.
You mentioned Clover S.C. in one of your videos. Is Clover in a rural area? Is it one of those places that is up and coming?
Yes, Clover is considered a rural area. It is growing and people are drawn to the area for their schools
Hi Sir Ashley, I'm looking for a Realtor as an older shopper.
I'm originally from NJ and don't know about the different sections of Charlotte. Can you please advise for moderate areas.
Exactly! I am in the same boat as you! not being familiar with all the neighborhoods in Charlotte, I have a realtor who sends me condos and town homes that sound very nice however when I ask him how is the neighborhood… He usually tells me he is not sure! he usually says he will check with another colleague for that information. now that raises a red flag for me…😒 I have been to Charlotte and toward a few apartment complexes but I felt that a experienced realtor would be privy to properties that would not land on my radar. I would have thought that a two bedroom, two bathroom was plentiful with all the new and not so new construction. I personally do not need all the bells and whistles i.e. tennis court barbecue pits because I am not going to use them.
I wish you the best on your search and move❤️
I live in Clover, SC
Clover / Lake Wylie, SC
Very helpful
Look into Stanly county in NC.
But close enough!
Dang. Hate to hear this about Huntersville and people of color.
is there much home steading in North Carolina
Please incorporate time stamps in the future. Thanks in advance.
He skipped right over that word "plantation" when talking about Huntersville . . . Just an observation.
Thank you for your observation. What would you like me to say about it? If you've followed the channel, you know I don't have any problem talking about racial matters and the realities of living in the South, but that wasn't the purpose of this video.
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is appreciated.
what's about westdrive
So is a cancer cluster that a lot of people get cancer there? But nobody knows why?
AMAZING 👏
outstanding
I remember when Fort Mill was just a small BORING town! Well it's come along way since then it's now a growing BORING city!-Nothing to do in Fort Mill. The homes are so close that if your windows are open and you sneeze your neighbor is going to say gesundheit! So what do you do? Go to charlotte(Uptown) and enjoy the nightlife and fine restaurants then go back to your small boring city(Fort Mill) to live!
Haha live in North Charlotte tenth of a mile from Applebee's, Sam's, Chili's, Biacow... Mile from River Buffett which has sushi.... Three miles from Concord Mills and ten miles from Northlake...
Gastonia is top tier but don’t move here we’re good
🎯 lol. Agreed. We are good.
I just moved to Gastonia from Ohio and haven’t found anything top tier. Please let me know the top tier spots.
What abt statesville
I’m not ruining part 2 by saying this.. but Statesville is NOT in the top 10
Mooresville should have been #1. #DirtyMoUKno
Marshville...lol
Huntersville, fort mill, etc Is not Charlotte NC .
Jerald, you are 100% correct. They are Charlotte area Suburbs
Whoa 😳
N
Good news thanks
WPS
that is all😂
Carolina raptors center?! SOLD! 😀
I actually have gone & thoroughly enjoyed it! You’ll like it!
@@advisorSirAshley I love raptors. My gf took me to get some introductory falconry lessons one year for my birthday. I want to become a licensed falconer in the next few years
I went with my dad and we had a lot of fun. Lots of cool bird of prey.
Is concord mills area in the list ??
Concord did not make part 1 of the list
LoSo?
Never Heard of Goat Yoga😂
400 to 500k is not affordable at all
Eastside grill huh 😂
Westside grill🤦🏿♂️
Lebron James...Goat?
I would p toknow if you in conflict with realty high programmed fixed price or preaching your. Own bible
Where's a great area for single people who have no children with good public transportation?
Tired of people moving here is an understatement. People bring all kinds of bad habits with em Driving/Drama I noticed it's not the ones that's been down here it's the ones just now coming here NY is like Gotham city rn. So people bringing that dumb shit here. I wish I could buy an island or something. Y'all make people like me that's FROM HERE NOT WANNA LIVE HERE ANYMORE
Say it again. Everyone from Baltimore-I tell you. Moved to the west coast as a native
