Sorry about the poor quality. Discovered this video from the now dead Nunoalpi jazz channel. Thought i'd put it back on youtube after i found it on dailymotion. This is the quality from the dailymotion vidéo.
Hope you enjoy anyway.
Great playing from everyone, but as a drummer, I'm continuously amazed about Jeff Ballard's creativity and short reaction time to everything he hears around
These guys live INSIDE the music. In the moment- getting lost.
mark turner is out of this world the high notes and scale patterns he sheds really comes out in his playi kg so impressive
also may i say that not only is ballard amazing but he plays like he just found a drum set lying around and got REALLY EXCITED and STARTED HITTING IT and IT WAS FUN
I wish Kurt would play this tune live a lot more. I have only seen one live version of this tune. This is my favorite tune from him. It's so simple and just beautiful playing.
nothing simple about it :)
@@gdansk12349 It’s not that complicated though
Aaron Goldberg! Incredible solo
I love Kurt Rosenwinkel, but wow... Jeff Ballard doesn't quit. He'll look exhausted at 1min into a piece and just speed up at 12min. Unbelievable combination.
man ... the groove of ballard is crazy...
Dacht ik ook.iemand had commentaar zou een matte drummer zijn met weinig fantasie?Jeff ,perfect.
Love Aaron Goldberg's piano here. Kurt is such an inspiring musician. The drummer is incredible.
Drummer is een metronoom.
Jeff Ballard on drums
I heard that he was pretty much this good when he got to Berklee. My teacher was there, and was taught by the same guy that taught Kurt. He said that he was pretty much one of the best in the world by the time he left, touring with Gary Burton (the dean of the school). Insaaaane!
Your teacher and Kurt were taught by the great Jack Pezanelli
Owen Burns He's one of my Berklee buddies. His dad played piano, but really Kurt is an extremely quick learner. We were in theory together and Gary Burton just kept moving him up higher levels from class to class. I remember waiting on a lesson and he put Kurt and Seamus Blake in a practice room and said "Write something, I will check in after Sam's lesson" They were just growing together, it was insane. Like Weather Report on steroids. Scott Kinsey Jim Black Mark Turner all there. I had a trio with Matthew Garrison and Julian Coryell, then Chris Cheek and Jesse Williams and I would busk at Harvard Square playing standards.
uow!!
@@coledavismusic They’re not saying he was some child prodigy, they’re saying that he was this good when he was in school.
This performance -- and the more recent "Inner Urge" (Joe Henderson) with Peter Beets Trio -- are my favorite live Rosenwinkel takes. Well done by all hands!
man, this really cooks!
Man, be blessed for sharing these anthologic 12.27 minutes !!!!!
greatest piece i've heard in months
tiny update. still the greatest
@@contremisart haha, I feel identical!
Ballard killing it!
Great as always!
these guys really make the music, and thanks a lot for sharing this. good karma for ya!
great band and composition... only regret is that the cameraman focus always on kurt right hand ;=))), i know right hand is important but for some guitarist, like me maybe, the left hand could be interesting also lol
they kill the ever-loving shit out of this. intrepid vibe through and through.
So good.
Epic.
Jeff somehow became the best drummer in the world around this time...
Goldberg going in!
5:45 for literally 2 seconds Jeff B such a awesome transition, like messing with the time...ahha
진짜 멋지다 ㅠㅠ..
@wakeb1444 Its in 12/8. Listen to the melody. You can hear that the phrases fit in 4 beats, and every beat is subdivided in 3
If the chord has F#, B, C#, E, and A#, you could write it either as F#11 (it doesn't matter that the 9th is omitted), or F#7(add11) or F#7(add4). because there are so many ways to voice a chord (especially in jazz), what octave the 3rd or 4th is becomes almost irrelevant when you're writing the name of the chord (so you can write any of the aforementioned chord names). however you never see "add3." If the 3 is included, it is never a supsended chord. it has an added 4th. hopes this helps.
@Eradicateify That's awesome! Thanks. But I think he meant is there a version of the song "Chords" from The Remedy on video :)
Did you transcribe these yourself?
This is mostly true in the second part , beginning is fine to be honnest
@spongey222
I was transcribing the A section then i got frustrated at the B section and found a lead sheet. So in short i got through the A section and when it went to the B section i gave up XD.
@jazztom86 A Section
Am7/G7Sus/FMaj13#11/Em11 Repeat Dm9/Cmaj9/Am9/Em11/ Repeat 4x
B Section (gets a little crazy)
F#7susadd3/G13sus/Cmaj7(#5)/ C7 with a Eb in the bass/F#7susadd3/G13sus/G#m7(b6)/Am9 Repeat
what guitar is kurt playing in this video, thank you
VIew from Moscow as the title indicates. it's not the city it's the name of the tune (song)
Actually the first chord is a Am flat 6
Snyggt där!
@jazztom86 not as far as i know...
Wouldn't a F#7susadd3 be just a F#7? Your suspending the third and then adding it? I'm confused, somebody tell me what notes would be in this chord.
I interpret it as it has the 11 and the 3rd in the voicing, great sound
Weergaloos
Klasse apart.en het dynamische het blijft lopen.
uaaahh, isn't there a version of "chords" on video???
This videos constant cuts are trash sounds great though
ok! pink panther ! that's alright
Who cares about the time signature, its 12/8 and the melody is on beats1&3&5 for all of you who want to count along. Its 12/8 look beyond that because its about the groove, not the numbers.
who is the sax?
Mark Turner
all male panel, but still facemelt
