Guys apologies it’s been pointed out my editing on the text has gone wrong some how and the ordering got messed up
Hope it still make sense!
Thanks
Si
Got some Vega wedges for sell 50, 54 and 58. Would be great for your series Si
I bought a 52* and 56* RTX-4 wedge in the US on clearance for $50. Both brand new tour raw. They're perfect. I love Cleveland wedges.
Great channel
Great content
Fresh & refreshing to see something informative and down to earth at the same time
I currently use the Ram Pro spin wedge set, as I've not been playing for very long. They work for me for now, but always good to know of the other options out there. Thanks for another great video.
I bought the Cleveland wedges last year the RTX 3 brand new. £45 and I love them, it’s just perfect. Great content keep it up 👍🏼
I love the straight forward honesty you bring simon. I have re-worked my bag with second hand bargains. Lets face it the major brands are marketing companies that pray on the must have rich brand snobs! I watched a you tube comparison of one brands drivers from 2010 to current day model. 2013 came a very close second to 2021! 2013 in my bag for £75. Keep the content coming.
Very glad there's always a 'flashy' option included, (not because that's where my golf is at) really enjoy hearing about the slightly lesser known brands
As a Ping iron player been using glide, but just added a Ping eye 2 + sand wedge to the bag for some variation depending on the course. £28
Great video Simon. I just bought a cobra mim 54 wedge for 41 delivered excellent condition and a Cleveland smart sole 58 degree for 40 quid looks new only 5 months old. That's me sorted for 3 yrs
I'm currently using Ping Glides and about to restore a Vega wedge I got for $80...Great content!
Brilliant absolute nail on head Simon 👌👌
I switched to Celeveland RTX4 wedges last year and my wedge has stepped up a lot!! Dropped my Vokey's for the Cleveland and couldn't be more happier =)
I always liked the short game, and got a 60 PM grind early on. It was awesome! I liked it so much I bought the company.. well at least got myself fitted for some 50 and 56 Mack Daddy forged wedges, so that I had a "proper" set of wedges. I Love them to bits, BUT.... I've found it hard to bed them in. Rather than having a single wedge I used almost everywhere, I now have 3 wedges, all wanting to be used, and all telling my head different stories, and I'm not at all sure that I'm better off for it.
Love my sureout 2 gives me confidence not to duff in bunkers and greenside!
Cleveland tour action used to be the top choice on tour. But they started making less classic players wedges and had quite aggressive bounce options that put them off the throne!
Cleveland cg15’s baby ! 2010 last wedge before the groove change , big square grooves for the rough ! A snap all of them up
I've been playing RTX3 in the form of 52 and 58 degrees for a few years now just after the RTX4 came out. I got them brand new for £70 each and they are great. Also a 48 CBX also £70 brand new
You are right about Cobra, I picked up 3 "Ex Demo" King Cobra Black wedges from American Golf of all places for £150. They were like new because nobody demos Cobra. They are damn good wedges aswell.......
I have a 52 and 56 cobra Pur wedges and love them
There you are I finally got to see your video nice one
I got a great deal last year on the not so well known wedges. Brand new Bettinardi H2 wedges. 50 and 56 degree for $75 each. Now going for $90 used. I'm not going to sell them though. Great wedges.
Agree about technique and I keep my wedges alive by having a winter set, after selling them for daft money in the spring I had to get my new winter set and found a set of 3 Ben sayers new on ebay for £50 and will get money back on them if I don't like - keep telling the message of renting and moving on
Great advice as always
Cleveland has definitely continued to have high quality wedges - I typically choose between Cleveland and Titleist when I do need new wedges. Just a note, Roger Cleveland has been with Callaway for more than 20 years at this point.
Rosignol actually bought Cleveland in 1990 and Roger Cleveland began working with Callaway way back in 1996
I bought that black cobra 52 mim wedge from your ebay love it
Was hoping to see it in a video 😂
As a Vokey Wedge user they have recently saved my bad shots and put me in a position to birdie or par the holes with confidence. I get better and better with them, and I can count on them when I pull them out of the bag to save my bad shots.
Love this mate!
Listened to you drumming this into us last year and ended up hunting and finding some rusty wedges that were barely used including a mint condition RTX3. A rusty vokey oil can with what is basically the new wedgeworks low K 60* grind £200 club, for £30 "used". Vokey Gap and SW to make Four fresh grooved wedges for £125 total.
Good man 🙌
My wedges are still my proudest second-hand find 50 and 56 Mizuno MP-T4, £30 each, the 56 had been hit about twice!
Recently bought CBX2 wedges w/zip grooves (same as rtx4) for about $30. Also a Ping glide tour 50 ($29) and a new Cobra 50 for $15. All were in like new or new condition and grooves. The mac daddy wedges seem to get crazy prices, can't get Edel at reasonable price either. I like V grind soles w heel relief. Experimenting with Cleveland DSG and some lower bounce options as well. Like the look of the full face PM wedges. Why not save a ton on gear! Spend 90% of practice on the wedge game.
Cobra tour trusty I bought brand new for 80£ a few months ago. Love it
Looked at the used market initially but didn't feel confident enough to commit so bought the ES21 54 and 58 to fit better with my current wedge and gap wedge. So the cbx 56 and 60 are now surplus to requirements.
He said.
Thanks for watching guys! Let me know if I missed one. 😉
Nike Vr Pro wedges. Similar in looks to the SM8's
Kirkland for the price?
The best wedges I have and still use are TM ATV had them 4 years and still going.
Recently been shanking 58 degree 10 bounce Titleist wedge used to have good technique.
Obviously my current technique is poor but other wedges are 52/56 Cleveland 8 degree and mostly hit them well.
11 handicap.
I would look for pre-owned Vokey wedges. Some people get them as gifts I’ve paid $6 for a never used 60° SM5 and $16 for an oil can 50°. My 56° is a reconditioned vokey I reground, re-cut grooves with the dremel and an iron bar.
Have a look at md golf online - I have used and loved their wedges before - normally can get them 40-50 quid new. Particularly like the black finish ones…
I really like the original cbx wedges a really good powerful wedge. Did lack feel and control but thats what you would expect from a cavity wedge. Fitted into a set of forgiving irons realy well without big gaps.
I got the CBX2's and I feel like I'm getting a LITTLE more feel with practice, but yeah it's like, if you don't go cavity wedge, you get more short game feel, but less ease with longer wedge shots. I need the help with longer wedge shots, so it was worth less short game feel.
@@jephfandingo1438 agreed for sure, hence I play a mixed wedge set. 50 and 54 in Cleveland CBX that I can play for anywhere from 60-120 yards and then have a Taylormade Hi-Toe for the feel shots. Not to say I’m the best player and it matters too much, but I will say a stock 54 goes 100-105 on the money and having the confidence I can hit an approach shot straight from there is absolutely worth the lack of feel
Simon I use the call away sureout 58deg I like it
Swapped out my vokeys sm7 s this year for the Cleveland cbx 2 with my club discount saved the cost of a vokey on 3 wedge set up
Find them easier to use and not much difference on feel
I have the 2019 PM grind wedges 54° and 58°. Bought em for $75 each. I disagree that they are just for bunkers and flop shots I use them for all wedge shots and they are legit. Feel great and are very effective.
Cleveland are quality forgings, owned by Srixon who are up there with Mizuno from a forging perspective.
On that note I think Mizuno wedges are massively underrated - why would their wedges be any less well made than their irons? Check out the S18 for a good deal on a Mizuno wedge. You might even get a T20 now the T22 is out.
Cleveland are fantastic wedges.
I know you said no Callaway, but I bought an x-series jaws 52 degree on ebay for $45, free shipping. It was in great shape. I'm no expert, but it spins like crazy and feels pretty much like my sm7. but softer.
For £50 a wedge you can't beat the kirkland wedges at £150 for 3 brand new. They spin as well as any wedge I've ever used, including vokeys, and are fairly forgiving.
Used 2 year old mizuno, quality 60/70spondules 👌
Looking to shift some Cleveland wedges 2.0, 3 and 4 for 50 and under so thank you! 😂
Simon you have done me here I k ow the rtx wedges I'm bidding for are now gonna go for over the odds
Love your videos, keep it up. An unrelated question to wedges if I may. I bought a cobra baffler XL 4 22deg hybrid recommended in one of your videos. It’s my 200yrd safe club off the tee, 190 from the fairway. My driver averages around 250-260. I don’t have any woods in the bag, what would you recommend? I’m thinking 3 wood even though you don’t normally recommend them…
Love my Cleveland wedges.
Still using my Cleveland CG 14 wedges.
Great video! Where can I get one of those cool caps
Got the Cobra MIM wedges in the bag , absolutely love them
Great wedges 🔥
@@SASGolf I have a full Cobra bag and moved over from SM7 wedges. Feel just as good and match the bag great
great stuff
On the spot. 🙏🏌🏼
I’m looking at getting some wedges the price of new is crazy, don’t want to buy 2nd as you said they’ve probably been used to 💀
I play with a ping 58° glide 2.0 stealth ss 60$ - best feeling wedge for me anyways.
I also have a 54° Mizuno T7 35$ - love this club just works well and is close 2nd to the ping , just solid wedge all around in my opinion.
Have a Cleveland RTX 48° for 45$ - great club as well tbh , it's a older model
Also have TM HighToe 52° about 60 $ - hardest to hit for me , looks great but more of a better player wedge in my opinion , I think it's more of a set up problem at address for me with it cause I have problems hitting it consistently.
Grips also can play a factor in a bunch with feel and like with wedges , I like mid size grips for my wedges and soft sticky grips can go a long way in making a better wedge for its owner.
Next up its SM 6 7 or 8 I will buy to try out and will keep grabbing the glide 2.0 cause I personally love it and will not shy away from any Mizuno T series , just can't go wrong.
Maybe even a Callaway someday too cause why not.
God Bless All.
Costco 3 for 150 and heard they were solid + brand new
If I didnt have the budget to buy big name brand wedges id get some of the bombtech or kirkland wedges. ive seen the bombtech in person and for the price they are sweet looking.
Cleveland CBX2 wedge great club
I picked up 2 SM7 wedges 2nd hand with hardly any wear for NZ$200!
Where do you get your hats from Simon Great video by the way 👍
Simon how many and what degree wedges would you recommend for a high handicapper / beginner. Thanks
I'm left handed so my options arn't so big, I would get the Costco ones if I could as I think they seem like great bang for buck but I can't, I'm thinking of getting some Caley wedges £199 for the set but 10% off first order so £180 I don't think it's too bad but I can't find any videos on the wedges. I do need lessons though as my short game is aweful
My wedge game is the most consistent part of my game
Mine too mate consistently rubbish 😂
Consistently thinned across the greens
Simon what about the kirkland wedges
Being fitted for a gap wedge tomorrow. Which brand would assist in me improving?
Simon what do you think about the Nike Engage wedges?
Question please, would you get custom fit at some specialist shop like precision golf if your off a 10 handhicap? Or would you go and then hit the 2nd hand market? Is swing weight and stuff like that overrated? Please help before I book or not....... 😀
So should i get new low budget like the wilson staff $60 or a well used vokey for $30?
All my wedges are Cleveland RTX, I cannot justify rinsing £450 on 3 clubs when I can spend £150 and get the same results.
Correction for you mate: Roger Cleveland sold his company over 25 years ago to a French company, who did nothing with it until they sold it to Srixon (actually Sumitomo tire)
What about the brand new mizuno wedges
Texan classic wedges $75 for 3 on Amazon
simon i would like you to look at thr fazer wedges at AM they look like knockoff mack daddy clubs but do they work
I have a pair of sm6 wedges. Paid £60 for the pair
Agree with Cleveland being number 1 - I picked up a 58 degree RTX4 from Facebook Marketplace a few months ago for the bargain price of £35, that looked like it had been used 3 or 4 times at most.
How would you say these compare to the kirklands?
Vega interesting ! I play their rad 02 driver. A magic wand, old school quality and performance . I have a 70's wilson 8802 putter, in great nick. They seem to be selling for silly money. Any chance you might cover the ' collectable ' market.
I'm picking up a Wilson 8802 along with a never used ping anser and a mint Anser 2 next week, paid £125 for all 3. Wilson's alone are going for around £100. The Wilson may be my new gamer!!
@@ryandavies8065 8802 is so beautiful and in mint cond., I can't bring myself to use it !
Mate, you've got to at least have a little tap on a putting green. Spoke to a few guys on putter collectors Facebook page and they rate them so highly!!
@@ryandavies8065 I do , but never game it. Instead I use an 8882 when I play. Its pretty close.
@@MegaWilmington fair one, those are a damn sight cheaper too. Might get one of those as well!!
Going cheap you just end up buying a pricier one eventually then you add that $50 on top of the better wedge price
check out lazrus ??
FYI the text showing up does not match what you are talking about, love the content though, thanks!
Thanks for head up mate, just pinned a comment to explain. Thanks pal. 🙌
I don’t disagree with this channel often but I recently went from MiM to an RTX to a SM9. Wedges were the weakest part of my game. I have had a significant increase in strokes gained. I use arccos to my stats are not just a feeling. My dispersion is so much tighter. I can generate far more stopping power, green side especially. This may not be the case for someone else but I can’t argue with the results. I’ll likely never ply another wedge than a new Vokey. MiM was the worst wedge I have ever played in my life. I’ve tried just about every wedge.
Or go for the Kirkland wedges from Costco £150 for three of them brand new
Watch the whole video paul. 👍
@@SASGolf I did sorry didn’t hear you mention the kirks
I watched it again you didn’t mention the Kirkland wedges unless your talking about lessons which I don’t need mine are the SM4 which I brought new I recut the groves and they work fine still
I don’t get your comment what do you mean by watch the whole vid which I did twice
Ram. Is what I got
Wilson FG’s
best thing to do with a golf shop voucher?
How much you got?
@@SASGolf €75
Had a pair of Cleveland RTX 4, and they totally sucked. They're not even worth using as a door stop. Was given a pair of used SM7'S and love them.
I have some Visine if you need….
👍👍
Titleist "S" grind is horrible... The others are gorgeous...
150 pounds gets 5 good wedges
👍🥃🇨🇦
