@M J I don't know about Z, but I find it easier to fight MMM with P than with T(I'm gold 2 for both races). Gold terrans usually don't have much detection against OB's, and building colossus and high templars as soon as you spot more than 3 barracks should do the trick. MMM is very squishy against a protoss army with 2~3 colossus, ~3 archons, ~5 high templars, and a ton of zealots for tanking. With ~ 10 warp gates you can also support your army much faster than terran. Stupid terrans can even trap their marine-marauders between their tanks and your archons in some cases. The only danger is that the terran may be building vikings, which you can also counter with a round of stalkers.
In hindsight, probably the final project before Blizzard’s glory days came to an end. Can’t believe it’s been fourteen years. Remember the hype and excitement around this title like it was yesterday! Strange to think the gap between now and SC2 is now bigger than the gap between the original SC and SC2; it felt like an eternity waiting for a sequel! Speaks volumes about the quality of games blizzard used to put out. Great game. Exceptional storytelling. Blizzards cinematic’s were always Hollywood quality. I must have watched this trailer a hundred times before the game was released. Good times
I remember watching this video over and over while we waited for the game to come out. Lotta cool units got cut, though. I'd completely forgotten about the Cobra. Still a great game, though. And 6 years later....I still can't play for shit.

I love how the buildings looked more like the SC1 versions, bunkers and command centre, they built off of that and then adapted. Basically a SC1 remake in 3D. T

The diamond back looks nice, and would be very good. I guess they wanted thors from factory to disallow masses of thor being built all over the map, and proxy thor.
@@gendalfgray7889 Blizzard wouldn't just 'not want to do stuff'. they're a massive company. Sure, some of this stuff looks cool, but they would've been overpowered. The game honestly doesn't need new units anyway, and units like the diamondback that weren't added to the multiplayer were still in the campaign.

It's almost exactly 9 years since I watched this! The units introduced here are so different to what is available now! I would like to see the drop pod option for the Ghosts in multiplayer!
You can make it drop 8 marines for the cost of 12 with a 10 sec delay/channeling or preproduce the marines and put them in a terran transporter thing much like nydus and for every 8 supply inside you would be able to drop a pod(again with the challening time before they actually drop). Just an idea
Terrans are so much more versatile now than they used to be, I used to love playing Protoss in classic, but I might pick on Terran in Starcraft II. Nice job on the development of Starcraft II, can't wait to get into the BETA or buy the game in the future.

All these old ideas that didn't make it into the final game. I still remember the old Temest idea, which was a dark templar carrier with an amazing ground to air shield, but no shield for air to air.
Would be cool if they returned some of these ideas like the Plasma array for the Battlecruiser for the UED when they return in StarCraft 3. The UED are more advance than the Terrans, it would be cool seeing more powerful version of the Terrans.

Man I remember seeing this video and I has always sworn that the sensor tower used to turn into a radar dish but I didn't remember what it did. Also the viking had a vulture style voice actor? lol.
Just incredible what they did for this game TBH. Brood War will always be the better game to me, but they really did get creative and do their best to innovate with SC2 and I respect it for that.
Wow the animations are incredible ... unfortunately the had to eliminated some of them in orden make the game smoother ... and the effects were pretty better than the current ones ... would be kinda interesting to try this
I'm glad I found this video again and the protoss one. I rember being excited to play, but then being cockblocked by battle net because my dad bought only 1 copy. Many years later, I've played through the campaigns... but it just isn't the same. Hots and Void changed a lot of things, whether they be good or bad.
Oh man this video just showed up randomly on my feed.....if only this unique version of starcraft still existed. In the present all units feel the same with such minor differences....and abandoned.
It was done to make it easier to assess unit damage on the fly. One color over the whole thing takes less time to mentally parse (especially when looking at two dozen unit icons at once) versus each one having four different parts that change colors inconsistently.
Remember when there was hype about SCII? All those features. All of it. Now some were removed and the rest casualized. And don't get me started with the campaigns.
+Maciej Bohn Campaigns were awesome. Nostalgia guys just can't get throug their heads that after 12 years changes were inevitable. Yes this isn't starcraft from 1998 (It's better in my opinion). But just because it isn't it's not the reason to hate the game.
Helios From a gimmicky/gameplay mechanics P.O.V.? They are superior. From a story-wise P.O.V.? Mediocre at best (WoL), and horrible (HoTS). Didn't play LoTV yet, so cannot justify it completely.
Maciej Bohn You'll propably won't like LOTV either, it's not like the others, but you'll most likely won't like what they did with the protoss. Artanis is the messiah for them and he saves his entire race, (which is fine for me) and the dark and mysteriousness of protoss is gone. They are more like Honorable, highly advanced, and kinda racist guys.
It's not an energy-based ability, actually. If you look closer to the vid, you can see the messages of "Drop pods ready" and that drop pods on standby actually takes supply. Think of it as of nuke call down, but with marines for their full price (and maybe some extra gas even), but it's anywhere you wish.

+Maciej Bohn Campaigns were awesome. Nostalgia guys just can't get throug their heads that after 12 years changes were inevitable. Yes this isn't starcraft from 1998 (It's better in my opinion). But just because it isn't it's not the reason to hate the game.
Helios From a gimmicky/gameplay mechanics P.O.V.? They are superior.
From a story-wise P.O.V.? Mediocre at best (WoL), and horrible (HoTS).
Didn't play LoTV yet, so cannot justify it completely.
Maciej Bohn You'll propably won't like LOTV either, it's not like the others, but you'll most likely won't like what they did with the protoss. Artanis is the messiah for them and he saves his entire race, (which is fine for me) and the dark and mysteriousness of protoss is gone. They are more like Honorable, highly advanced, and kinda racist guys.

Ghost in this demo cool concept , with that drop pods ability but maybe its too disbalanced when u can cost the unit energy for 20 marines
It's not an energy-based ability, actually.
If you look closer to the vid, you can see the messages of "Drop pods ready" and that drop pods on standby actually takes supply.
Think of it as of nuke call down, but with marines for their full price (and maybe some extra gas even), but it's anywhere you wish.

바이킹은 우주 공항으로 생산되는것으로 변경되었습니다.군수공장 첫 생산 유닛은 아까도 말했듯이 화염차로 교체 되었습니다.아마 바이킹은 제공 전투기라서 교체 된듯...
벤시의 공격하는 미사일 수가 줄어들었습니다.

사신은 프로토스 시연 영상에 한번 출연했으므로 대충 설명하면 한국에선 강습병이라 불렀지만 사신으로 최종 결론 났고 G-4 집속탄은 삭제되고 구조물 공격시에만 D-8 폭탄으로 대체 되었지만 이것 역시 삭제 되었다고....(근데 자유의 날개 캠페인은 빼고...)
토르는 원래는 건설로봇으로 생산으로 땡처리할려고 하지만 그러면 토르가 무인 병기로 오해받을 우려가 있는데다 너무 커서 크기만 줄어들고 결국 군수공장에 생산할수 있는것으로 수정 되었습니다.
코브라는 원래 구 연합이 만들다가 여러 이유 때문에 폐기 처분 되었고 결국 삭제되었다....(즉 미완성이란 얘기...)
유령은 낙하기 투하 기능을 삭제되는 대신 EMP 탄환으로 교체 되었습니다.단지 그뿐...
전투 순양함은 플라즈마 어뢰 기술이 삭제 되었고 대신 지옥불 미사일 과 보호막이 추가되었지만 이 두 기술은 캠페인으로 넘어갔고 플라즈마 어뢰는 대사만 더미 데이터 처리되었기 때문에 사실상 삭제된거나 다름이 없다...이때 전투순양함은 헤라클래스 급이였고 현재는 미노타우로스 급으로 교체되었다.
우주공항 모델링도 새로 교체되었습니다.
토르의 초기 모델링은 오딘으로 재활용 되었고 캠페인 유닛으로 재활용 되었습니다...
유랑선은 낡은 고물선으로 전락되고 결국 밤 까마귀가 추가되었습니다.
사령부의 신규 업그레이드는 행성 요새 말고도 하나 더 있습니다.바로 궤도 사령부인데 알파버전에는 없지만 베타 나 최종 버전에 추가된듯...
일시적 일꾼 유닛인 지게 로봇이 추가되어 건설 로봇보다 많은 자원을 얻을수있지만 지속시간이 90초라서 왠만하면 궤도 사령부가 많으면 그때 쓰자
벙커 모델링도 바뀌었습니다.덤으로 강화 벙커라는 업그레이드가 추가되었고 공학 연구소에서 업그레이드를 할수있으며 업글 하는 순간 벙커 수용칸이 6개로 늘어납니다.
유령은 과학 시설 과 부속 건물인 비밀 작선실이 삭제되고 이제부터 유령 사관 학교를 생산해야 유닛 생산할수 있습니다.
신규 건물인 유령 사관학교가 추가 되었습니다.이 건물이 있어야만 유령 업그레이드 및 핵 미사일 생산을 할수있습니다.그리고 이제 전술 핵 미사일 생산때 인구수를 더이상 먹지 않습니다.원래 핵 격납고가 있었으나 통합되어서 싱글 플레이 구조물로 땡처리

과학선도 밤 까마귀로 전격 교체 되었지만 캠페인 유닛으로 나옵니다.과학선이 교체된 이유가 전쟁이 급격한 장기화 되는것도 물론이고 경제문제 즉 생산유지비가 더럽게 많이 들어서 퇴역되었습니다.
테란은 은근히 퇴역 처리된 유닛이 많지만 대부분 캠페인 유닛으로 재활용 된게 많습니다...
이때 그래픽 진짜 이쁘고 잘 만들엇는데 왜 지금은 뭉툭뭉툭하고 더럽게 바껴서 출시된건가요 혹시 아시는지.. 이때 그래픽으로 리마스터 되면 좋을듯.. ㅠ
