Cross vs. Van Veen was f'n INSANE. I loved every second of it.
Loads of 180s, loads of 100+ finishes and bull finishes and loads of drama
The only thing it missed was a nine darter!
Indeed. I like Cross, but I was hoping VV could finish it. 170 finish, 167 finish, another bull finish. Fire.
I bet Cross gave him a comforting talk at the end. He knows GvV has it in him to be a huge darts star.

Cross vs. Van Veen was an absolute Matchplay classic!!! Shame Van Veen missed 6 match darts and blown his opportunity but surely he’ll come back stronger for sure!!!
Absolutely gutted for Van Veen, he had the opportunities to close it out and just couldn't take them.

Cross is a beast. He just comes out of situations you wouldn't believe.
Coming back 7-14 against gurney to win 17-15. And coming back from 0-4 sets to beat dobey 5-4.
He even did a comeback at world matchplay 2022 against dobey from 8-2
what's crazy about that gurney match is that he then got 9--0 up vs smith in the final. 19-1 in 20 legs across a major semifinal and final, i wonder if even MVG or Taylor have done that

Yeah his throw is super weird it's almost like he's not even aiming the dart just chucking them where he wants and it goes everytime 😂
It’s an interesting throw for sure, the arm comes from so far out to the side of his head it’s like he’s throwing a javelin
I sometimes throw that way and when it goes I get it, I can see why it works with the alignment. But obviously I miss by some way on a lot too so I never stick to the style!
I’ll never understand why you’d decline the Bull when your opponent is on a finish. Glad GVV hit the fish
I thought that was gonna cost Cross the match. But GVV blew it…
It's the percentage play. People always remember when the opponent takes out the finish but they don't remember the times when someone goes for the bull, misses, and then misses two darts at a double next turn.
Though that being said 170 is the easiest bullseye finish, it's probably close
@@Rahul-eh3rf totally understand the percentage play. But this tournament in specific is the best of the best. Anyone can pull out a ton+ finish even if they’re struggling.
I just think people would have learned by now. I mean it was only 41 years ago when Eric could have stayed in the world championship instead of having 138 rubbed in his face forever more. Yet here we are 41 years and many more examples later and they still do it!

Rob Cross is so weird. He loves those long, emotional hugs with the other guys a little too much. Not to mention he and RvB are so touchy feely with those hugs and hug other dart guys as if they're their wives.

SPOILER IN HERE: Half the Highlights vid is Cross and Van Veen. - The sudden death leg situation feels a bit unfair, even though Van Veen had so many match darts, ultimately it gave the advantage to Cross whoalready had the advantage of throwing first in the match.
What a match though regardless. Let's scrap the rest of the tournament and have every game replaced by Cross vs Van Veen rematches.
