Dude I hate when people say that graphic novels aren’t reading! I don’t understand the logic because it’s a literal book with pages and then what are picture books? Not reading? Also buying new releases helps the authors 😄
I think that depends. For example, I only own 5 double copies and those are for my favourite books which I always recommend and lend out to people, I lend people the paperback and keep the hardback for me to read (all the 2nd copies are hardbacks) BUT I don’t actively search for 2nd copies. All 5 of my 2nd copies were found either in charity shops for like 50p - £2 or on eBay for a similar price. I wouldn’t buy 2 of the same book at full price, but I’m happy to buy a second hand book just so I can, A) help out friends who aren’t as much of a reader as me and therefore don’t want to spend £8 on something they don’t know if they’ll enjoy, B) put notes in MY copy without having to worry about bothering someone who’s borrowed my book and suddenly has to read my thoughts on a specific scene, and C) read the book at the same time as my friend so we can discuss it together properly as I’ll be able to remember the intricate details of the scenes better. Obviously there will be people who buy multiple copies of a book for full price, but it ultimately is their money and if they are financially stable enough to do so then I think they shouldn’t feel guilty for doing so. On the other hand, I completely understand where you’re coming from because some people don’t even have enough money to buy one book and it therefore doesn’t seem fair that so many people appear to be wasting their money by purchasing multiple copies of the same book for no apparent reason other than because they like the look of both covers. Personally, I think it’s important to find a balance between desire and logic; you WANT a second copy, but is it worth it and are you in the right position to be able to do so? Are there cheaper methods of buying it? If you didn’t buy the second book, what else would you spend that money on and would the alternative purchase have more benefits?
I own multiple copies of the same book, simply because one set is in German, the other in English. Besides harry potter... I am currently on my 4th copy of that series. German (because I read it in that first) then a cheap English version, then the illustrated version in german, and then the Slytherin house version in English.
My hot take: you shouldn't force yourself to read a book for any reason, read the books you want to read, you have no obligation or at least you shouldn't. (Cough cough school cough)
3:15 I have unhauled books because I thought I would never read them again and that's how I felt at that moment... Now I deeply regret it and I want them back 😂 maybe at some point you'll feel like you won't want to reread something, but... don't be so sure about that... except if you didn't like it obviously. That's my opinion on the matter 😅 ... ok bye 😅😅😅 3:44 it reminded me of a quote from inkheart.
heres mine: If i read a book that i might not enjoy, i listen to the audio book and if i like the voice, its way better and usually changes my opinion. Example: Twilight series. Audiobooks are my backups lol
Honestly out of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, I've only read Harry Potter, so I'll have to say for now I love Harry Potter more. Ps. I do plan to read Percy Jackson soon... I have too many books to read.
(This will contain Harry Potter spoilers) Hot take: I really dislike Professor Snape, and I consider him to be a bully. Explanation: I know at the end of the series he ends up helping Harry, and I also know that he only treated Harry cruelly because he reminded him of James. But it’s mentioned numerous times throughout the series that Harry also reminded most people of Lily (who Snape was supposedly in love with), so surely Snape could’ve looked past James’ features and ‘seen the good’ in Harry (meaning that Snape should’ve at least shown him some respect for Lily’s sake, even if he was the son of James). Not to mention, It was literally Snape who acted hostile towards Harry first, and Harry only acted arrogant towards him in return because HE started it. What did Snape expect? For Harry to sit back and take it? Also, Snape only admitted to Dumbledore that he’d told Voldemort the prophecy because he knew Lily was in danger. So... What? Was Snape originally just gonna let innocent people die but decided against it since one of them happened to be a woman he loved? How does that make it any better? Idk... All I’m saying is that a few acts of kindness don’t make up for 7 years of asshole-behaviour. I know a lot of people will disagree, and I’m sure Snape has some redeeming qualities, but honestly... I’ve just never liked the guy.
I always judge a book by its cover. If it has a cool cover I’ll be more attracted to it. Or what people recommend to me. But I bought one of my favorite books because it had a nice cover....
I was actually really lucky to have a Graphic Literature class in my high school and it was probably one of the best and most interesting classes I had. We read Avengers, The Dark Knight Returns, and got to pick whatever graphic novel we wanted to read for our final paper. More schools definitely should have it as an option.
Regarding Riordanverse and HP, I truly love them both. The characters in HP were my friends growing up because I was bullied in school. I loved having Hermione to look up to, Harry to fight Voldemort with, and a loyal friend like Ron. The wonderfullness of Neville and Luna can't even be explained. I started reading the PJ books last April, and I have read almost EVERY Riordan book since then. I've always loved mythology and that feeds my nerdiness a bit. With that said, Riordan is much better with representation in his books than Rowling, and that is a fact. Bashing book readers on the types of books- I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree!! My mom is more into classics and non-fiction, whereas I favor fantasy, sci-fi, and fiction. She, like many classicists, tends to judge the heck out of me for not reading classics. I don't like classics, and that's my prerogative. Just stop judging people. Book summary- Sometimes, the summary is really good and the story is a flop. Other times, the summary is sketchy but the story is great. LOL
Hot take: Listening to an audio book is still reading. This one hits very close to home for me because I am dyslexic and the only reason I started reading was because of audio books.

NAKED HARDBACKS SPOILER WARNINGS OMG AJSADDASDSA i promise i wasnt expecting that when i sent that comment hahahah
My hot take: you shouldn't force yourself to read a book for any reason, read the books you want to read, you have no obligation or at least you shouldn't.
(Cough cough school cough)
I actually TOTALLY agree with paperbacks being better. That smooth cover, flexible book, ability to flip through all the pages. I love them so much!
3:15 I have unhauled books because I thought I would never read them again and that's how I felt at that moment... Now I deeply regret it and I want them back 😂 maybe at some point you'll feel like you won't want to reread something, but... don't be so sure about that... except if you didn't like it obviously. That's my opinion on the matter 😅 ... ok bye 😅😅😅
3:44 it reminded me of a quote from inkheart.

Percy Jackson vs Harry Potter
.....is that even a question? *HARRY POTTER*
I love your personality and your editing! I’m literally crying with laughter with every one of your vids! 😂😆
You're entitled to your onion.

heres mine: If i read a book that i might not enjoy, i listen to the audio book and if i like the voice, its way better and usually changes my opinion. Example: Twilight series. Audiobooks are my backups lol
Looking for Alaska is THE proof that his writing style is indeed complex & interesting. One of my all time faves.
" Percy jackson is better than Harry potter"
Being both a potterhead and a dam percy jackson fan , I AGREE TO THIS AND NO ONE CAN CHANGE MY MIND!!!!
Rereading counts as reading, because if it doesn't I've been rereading Library of Souls and A Map of Days over and over for no reason
Percy Jackson. I love Greek Mythology and admire the way they address ADHD and Dyslexia.
i have 3 copies of the throne of fire [all the same cover] and multiple copies of other rick riordan books in the Percy Jackson Universe too
Honestly out of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, I've only read Harry Potter, so I'll have to say for now I love Harry Potter more.
Ps. I do plan to read Percy Jackson soon... I have too many books to read.
(This will contain Harry Potter spoilers)
Hot take: I really dislike Professor Snape, and I consider him to be a bully.
5:57 I loved this so much I rewatched it like 20 time😂 (I don’t know why I did this but it’s so fun to move ur shoulders at the same time🤦♀️)
I prefer the Percy Jackson series to the Harry Potter series !!!! All day everyday 😂😂 all life every life ❤️
I always judge a book by its cover.
Me:Oh! I don't have time, i have to go to bed tomorrow is school (it's 11.30pm in my country i have to get up at 05.30 am)
UA-cam : Jessethereader has posted a new video
Me: it's only few minutes
Also me: starts watching every video with cool thumbnails
The first John Green book I read was “The Fault In Our Stars” and I love it (btw I am a 5th grader and I’ve read major series such as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and The Series of Unfortunate Events) so IF THAT DIDN’T MOTIVATE YOU AND YOU ARE GROWN IDK WHAT WILL!
Buying new books and never reading them - story of my life
You’re such an amazing BookTuber!!! I absolutely love your videos! I could be having a bad day, and I’ll watch your videos and I’ll be so much happier!!! Such a fun amazing video!!! 💕💕💕
I don’t like it when the narration says the same word a lot but I like it when a character does. Like Jacob in Twilight saying “sure sure” or Alex in Red White and Royal Blue saying “it’s fine, I’m fine.” It feels real to me cause people fall into having little catch phrases in their day to day lives too
"If only there was a block button in real life" Watch Black Mirror: White Christmas. It's great.
Love your videos Jesse! Gonna put "Book Reading Unicorn" somewhere 😁 I need that kind of positivity
“The book hustle” ALWAYS GETS ME. I’m a full time college student, working full time, and a YoungLife leader - I cannot read more than one book a month (at most) 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Reading just one book is great! At least you are reading and enjoying the reader life.
I just started my booktube channel and I am pumped!!
AwesomeBooktube great videos keep it up 👍

Lol. If I dislike a book I YEET it as far from me as possible as soon as possible. No matter how much I spent on it.
I've seen a lot of these bookish unpopular opinions/hot takes videos lately and they've become really boring because they got so repetetive. But yours was actually fun and refreshing! I liked it a lot.
I love the way you edit your videos. They just put me in such an energetic and good mood
I’ve reread the entire TOG series this year. You bet I’m putting that towards my reading challenge! 😂
I’m going to start something:
Percy Jackson or Harry Potter?
I personally haven’t read Percy Jackson yet but I plan to soon so I have no say in this but feel free to argue in the replies
When you said about the Percy Jackson and Harry Potter thing I was holding my Harry Potter book then I dropped it when you said that because I was shocked someone would say that
Well, there are too many people think that PJO is better than HP, just like me. I totally respect your opinion though...
Pjo IS better than hp tho, just my opinion
Idk but the riordanverse has more character, diversity and more Relatible
You're a book reading unicorn!
Thank you Jesse thank you 😊😊😊
