love the car, what does is weigh and how much power is it making if you dont mind me asking? i have drove fast modern cars but this car sings the song of my people, and the thought of blasting that beast down some tight back roads in the middle of the night gives me goosebumps.
Mad respect to these drivers doing the slippidy slide and still keeping 3000 Lbs under control while making it all look easy. You guys are true beasts!
Heart in mouth for all 9.37 minutes as an Aircraft Carrier on a sea of marbles, navigated moving Cruisers, Destroyers, Frigates and Patrol Boats in the Sea of Goodwood; awesome navigating Captain Romain !!
Brilliant racing, if there's not enough track, I'll just have to use the grass too 🤣, couldn't get to Goodwood this year, but off to Legends at Silverstone in October, can't wait
Brilliant drive. Holy crap if that wasn't on the limit of grip the whole time. The man has some amazingly fast responses. He and Kristensen are just so much fun to watch.
Insane!! Racing a big, heavy V8 sedan In the rain! Bonus rearview camera shots; Watching tbe light Minis disappear as the V8 screams down tbe straights!
My parents had a 63 Ford just like that! Except it didn't have a 427, it had a 6 cyl. Neither did it have a 4 speed, but it did have 3 on the tree. It didn't handle very well, either. And it sure didn't sound as sweet as this car! Highly impressed by the driving in the rain. I noticed the Minis gave chase around the corners, but the 427 just motored away on the straights. American Muscle!
@@jimherman3059 I agree, but the styling also helped sell that 63 to my dad. He bought it used, and he hated it the whole time he owned it. Replaced the 63 with a 65 LTD w/390. THAT was a car he loved.
I'm guessing it has similar steering to my 1968 Mustang. I was able to get a slightly quicker ratio steering box from Cobra Automotive in Connecticut. And I mean box, not rack and pinion--it was recirculating ball, like Fred Flintstone probably had. It still had a ton of play in it.
Msr. Dumas is a master! The way he took the lighter, more nimble cars in the lower classes! Wow! And then muscling his way past the other big Fords! Brutal! Masterfully done! BRAVO!!
Romain Dumas on fire!! Met him a couple times in Long Beach and Laguna Seca driving the Porsche RS Spyder - but amazing he can whip a big V8 Ford sideways like that. He’s a great guy, real sense of humor and irony! 🏁
This driver should be fighting ladies off for weeks after this!! Heel n toe, aggressive gearshifting, frequent patience, deft and gentle inputs a plenty.... A hero for the modern age 😍
I wish the HP differential between GT4 and TCR in IMSA's Pilot series was akin to that of the Galaxies and Minis here: it'd make it a lot more fun for me, since my fave GT4 team has an AM driver who can't stay ahead of the TCRs/frequently wrecks before the PRO gets his stint - even staggered starting grids can't keep him from falling into their pack. This makes me yearn for my first car: a '64 Galaxie wagon with a 352 (small-bore 390 block)/4-bbl/dual exhaust with glass-packs - it was a beast!
60s American V8 race cars may create the absolute best combination of brute machine and driver finesse that motorsport has ever seen. The only thing better would be a 426 Hemi Belvedere or two in the field to mix it up with the 427 Fords! The smallblock Barracuda is awesome, but a Hemi is the real match for the big Fords.
@@stevelacker358 depends on what type of course you drive. You might do better in a Barracuda 340 due to the lighter engine you'll have a very fast car that will handle much better. The 340 was no Slouch.
@@danw6014 no argument… and you don’t even need a 340, the 273 Barracuda did beat all the Galaxies here. ;) part of the appeal of Goodwood is that the course evens out very mismatched cars. It’s not everywhere you would expect an Alfa, an Barradcuda, a Galaxie, and a Cortina to run neck-and-neck. Still would love to see a Hemi Belvedere in the mix, though.
wow! that thing is period correct too. judging by the squeal of the middle pedal and the entire car shaking when he breaks traction, that bad boy is running drums and leafs. fantastic. little european precision instruments getting run down by a tractor 💪

Great to see these old Heavies driven with such Tenacity (Romain "Tenacity"Dumas!!!! )..Baller Racing team similar :)

And he stayed in the gas the whole time!!

@@mikewest5529 So true... I had to watch the whole race after : )
That was pretty chaotic for a second or two!
Had to replay that part. They were both getting squirrely!
Those lightweight Galaxies with their 427 FE engines were legendary.
FE = F--k Everybody!! lol
What is scary is they would do well in IMSA even today.
These races are so exciting. F1 wishes it had this.
Same for Nascar.
This boat captain always puts on a great show as he steams his way through the fleet.
amazing car control, love the grass racing line too!

That was hilarious! Brings back memories of my 1972 Galaxie/LTD. Lots of throttle to steer and no brakes.
That little clutch kick after the chicane to get the RPMs back up!
Heck, I do that in my daily driver .... a 4.3L
95 4wd 1/2 ton p/u!
I thought that was what I saw, but I wasn't sure......
Yep, perfection.
Yep that's what I used to do when I was road racing.

Romain at his very best in our Galaxie! 👏👏👏

When you won 24 hours Le Mans or 24 hours at the Nurburgring....racing at Goodwood is a piece of cake...great driver on a very difficult car to drive.
Dude also won Pikes Peak if I recall correctly.
his impressive victories at Sebring and Spa too, where he won overall in an LMP2 and N-GT car respectively
@@afa1515 yes more than once. ;)
@@almarn It's probably easier then some of the smaller Ford's out there. These are low and wide.
Not necessarily : racing on such a tiny track on wet weather with a big ol’ merican car is far from being easy
"Bit of a handfull" is an understatement, but great fun I expect
I thought the same thing, but I couldn’t help but watch , and what’s not to like about the sound of an American V8?

A couple of tons of pure delight! 😮❤❤. Masterclass of sliding a battleship around the track.
The ford FE 427 is an absolute beast!!
This is some of the best racing ever. Cars lite off of corners, spinning the tires, floating, and the lite minis fighting all the way. So cool.
Man, what brilliant driving!
2:12-2:16 Survives a terrifying tank slapper 6 inches from the car in front. Never takes his foot off the throttle. Keeps driving. Respect!
I’m not a Ford guy but, that thing is a beast. Sounds awesome!!
