Hi Shane, Ali here from the UK. Lovely compositions and shame about the flaws. I don't think you have a light leak, or it would have shown as white streaks. Those are black marks on the final prints which indicate either a film defect or a processing mishap. You also have two dark bands on each vertical side of the photos. These warrant further investigation. I have had similar defects on the odd HP5 Plus 4X5 sheets, only once I might add. In anycase thanks for sharing.
Thanks Shane, great video and yes your hundredth shot was amazing, looking forward to your next 100 shots, all the very best for next year, maybe we will see your finished darkroom with that gigantic enlarger, anyway cheers for down under 🇦🇺.
Like all the previous comments, that 100th exposure is absolutely stunning! Thanks, for sharing! BTW - I see you use the Harrison tent. Is it the standard or jumbo? I am finding mixed reviews regarding the standard for 8x10 folks. Many saying it is a wee bit small. How do you weigh in regarding this? Thanks, again, for the great content and inspiration!
Thanks, Tim. I’ve used both the standard and jumbo tent for 8x10. They both work fine but having the extra space with the jumbo is nice. I got the jumbo tent when I started shooting 16x20. They added some extra side pockets to my tent to accommodate 16x20 holders.
NIce images Shane. That Cokin X-Pro filter holder is a life saver. I had to upgrade to that system earlier this year when I bought a 300mm F5.6 Symmar-s with it's huge front element.
Hi Shane, in a previous episode you mentioned that you were getting rid of the roof tent and getting something else, but I note on this video the roof tent is still with you, has that idea been shelved or are there future plans? How is the darkroom coming along?
Glad you're back. Amazing how much costly-damage a small rodent can inflict. Both comp's were nice, too bad about the film/developing issue. Did you figure out which is the issue? I love this time of year for landscape, gotta get out to my favorite locations soon. Looking forward to your next trip. Enjoy the holidays.
Thanks, Steve! Luckily insurance covered the rodent damage. Yes, it was a developing issue, one that I’ve never experienced before, but it’s been sorted. Happy Holidays! See you in 2023 🍻
Good way to end the year. Thanks for all the enjoyable videos, Shane. I often wonder, with 8 x 10 film holders in particular, whether it isn't better to leave the dark slide not quite removed. My own holders are a very mixed bag, and I've taken to drawing a line on the slide where it's no longer in the frame but still (I can only hope) blocking the light.
Thanks, Bernard! My holders are all light tight. This leak is camera related. Because it’s at the top of the photo, it’s coming from the bottom of the camera. My only concern with leaving the dark slide partially inserted would be camera shake, if any sort of breeze showed up during an exposure.
@@shanedignum Sorry. I should have been paying more attention. And you're right. The slides would vibrate if left hanging. I work mostly inside, so that's not a problem, usually, I'd encounter.
I have been rewatching many of your vids. Really enjoy your channel. I have a question regarding reciprocity of fp4. In the first shot of this video you say that a 30 second exposure equals over 3 minutes with reciprocity. How did you come to that number? The app I have says 30 seconds equals 1minute and 13 seconds. I am just starting to shoot with fp4 and want to expose it correctly. Would you explain to me how you factor the reciprocity for fp4 please?
I’m glad you’ve been enjoying them. Your app is correct. It’s been a while since I took that photo, but I believe I added + 1 1/3 stop to the exposure.
Excellent video, and what a wonderful shot for exposure #100! Glad you made some b&w photographs to wrap up the year, FP4 is unbeatable for landscape. Love everything about your process, how slow and deliberate it is. Regards from Canada.
hi Shane, your very interesting videos were missing which are a source of great inspiration, in beautiful places and high level photographs, sorry for asking, why a 6 second exposure with FP4 becomes 3 minutes and 20 seconds and looking after the photos I saw that the epsotion is correct, in the calculation table I have (from Ilford) for a time of 5 seconds with FP4 the time would be 14.4 seconds, now I have many doubts! The last photo is very beautiful even those with the infiltration of light. Have a good week
Hi Nat, Thank you! I believe I misspoke. I meant 6EV, which was 30 seconds at F45, which becomes 1:12 when reciprocity time is added. I gave it an additional 1 1/3 stop because the light was fading so quickly.
Pleased the reason for your absence was “relatively” benign. Another lovely video. Am I being dumb, or does the length of an exposure increase the likelihood of noticing a light leak that was always there?
Hello from a fellow photographer and G wagen driver! Nice channel!
Yellow filter done perfect job
That final image was just terrific.
Keith makes awesome cameras. I have a 5x7
Hey Folks! Turns out it wasn’t a light leak, just some very strange uneven development marks. It sure confused me, but a light leak would be white.
You're right Shane, looking closely at the photographs if you see that there was some problem in the development, it was not light infiltration.
That last shot WOW
Shane that last shot 💪🔥
great as aways
Love that final #100 shot. The tonality is very nice. That 8x10 looks like a Canham? very nice camera.

Thanks, Ali. Yeah, I’m not 100% sure what happened. Perhaps it’s from development, it’s nothing I’ve seen before. Thanks for the input
@@shanedignum No worries.
Loving that last image- #100 is the magic number! Best wishes for the New Year.
You as well, Ricardo!
Thanks a lot for your videos. They are cool and interesting.
Glad your back, great video.

Yeah, my largest front element is 112mm and the X-Pro works like a charm.
That was wonderful, thank you!
I very much enjoy your videos Shane. Thanks for sharing your experiences and talents.
I’m glad you like them. Thanks for watching!
Hi Shane ! Beautiful photos !!!
Fantastic video. You got a new sub !! Will appreciate if you make a dedicated video about your camera equipment. Thanks

Awesome images. Question? Where did you get the square yellow filter?
Thank you. I have a couple of square filter holders. I use a Cokin X pro and the Lee system.
Love the final image. pity about the light leaks on the first two images, they too would have been great!
i always enjoy your videos and your images, thank you for sharing.
How do you like your 8x10 Canham? i really want one!
Thank you! It’s a great camera 👍🏼
It is a pity with the light leaks. Beautiful shot anyway… Hope you find the leak.
Thank you!
Nice👍

What do you use to scan the 8x10 sheet film?

Thank you! I’ll be using a lot more B&W next year 👍🏼
Always enjoyable to come along with your shoots. Were you happy with the yellow filter effects?
Thanks, Randy. Yeah, the yellow filter has always been my favorite for snowy scenes that show some sky.
Does the 100 number include those backup shots? ;)
Haha! Yes it does.

Thank you! That makes sense to me.
Im curious that is your develop process using chromes. Do you have a kind of scanner to capture image to use in computer for edition?
For slide film and color negative I have a flat bed scanner. If I’m doing a large print, I’ll send it out for a drum scan.
🙌
Nice work. Now that you're shooting b&w, does that mean that your darkroom is done now?
I wish! Winter has slowed everything down. It will hopefully be done next Summer.
I just now realized that your licence plate says F45! I suppose that's your preferred aperture to shoot? :)
Ha! Probably my most used aperture.
Bye bye Toyo 810...
