  • Your adventure begins when you fasten yourself into your own cockpit of the two-seater MiG -- 25 and you taxi onto the runway. You blast off at an amazing 238 mile per hour, and within minutes, you burst through the clouds and head for the heavens. As your highly-skilled pilot eases the enormous turbine engines into maximum power, you are miles above the earth and then you break through the sound barrier!
    Now, higher than any other humans, except for the crew members of the International Space Station - who are a mere 217 miles above you -- your pilot shows you the true capabilities of the graceful beast that cradle you. You'll experience thrilling manoeuvres like barrel rolls and parabolas. When the afterburners are ignited, the aircraft is now travelling at Mach 2 and you're headed towards the stratosphere!
    The Earth appears serene and unreal almost 10 miles below, and above you're surrounded by stars. No passenger jet could ever reach such heights. You have, "Slipped the sure bounds of earth and touched the face of God." You are at the edge of the universe!
    Your trained and experienced pilot then puts the aircraft into a steep Mach 2.6 curve; you experience 2 to 4 G's of force, and before you know it you're almost 16 miles above the earth and you can see what Galileo only guessed... the curve of the Big Blue Marble is before you! During the winter months, between November and March, the MiG -- 25 is capable of reaching even greater heights... altitudes of 16 to 20 miles! Are you brave enough to dare your pilot to, "Go for it?"
    We flew from the year 2000 up to 2006 on the Zuchowsky Airbase, nearby Moscow. Customers love it. This video is an edited video what we used as an advertisement at this time. The original tapes are in our safe.
    This video was the first uploaded by us on UA-cam as the first UA-cam video, a long time ago!

    UA-cam is turning 10! We uploaded the first video on UA-cam on August 15, 2006, showing the flight with a MIG-25 "Foxbat" of our founder to the edge of space, altitude was reached with more than 92,000 feet. Sorry, no HD version available, not state of the art in that time.
    Meanwhile we have the biggest channel about space & aerospace adventures on UA-cam.
    A big THANK YOU to our fans! We promise, more to come!

      I flown the MIG-25 Fox first time in 2004, attended by a german TV team. Because of this we have a lot of cams accessable. I still remember after 10 years my first flight as it would been done yesterday. When confronted with the Fox, first thing you imagine its the size! Then the big engines in which you could play hide and seek. The thrust what was pushing me back in the ejection seat was awesome, and I still remember as the MACH meter decreased behind the 2,0. The feeling in the own cockpit infront of the pilots cockpit was like you flown alone. The view around was spectacular, especially as you could see the vapor of the airliners, some kilometers below us. I watched the altimeter increasing, the digits were in meters. As we crossed 20km, I had have my first "Overview Effect". I realized that Earth is in space! After crossing the 20km, my pilot moved the jet in a 30 degree angle on the right wing and started with more ascending in altitude. I was also busy with my cam in my hand, what I have to say disturbes me a lot, but I had the task to do most best shots what are available. It was a flight in beginning of April, and my pilot said: "You know what? We will try to get high as possible today, temperature conditions looking good. Are you with me?" Of course I answered in that way of lets do it, and we flown higher. After crossing 25km, I was realizing that me and my pilot were the highest flying humans on that day beside the crew onboard the International Space Station! My pilot Alexandre Pavlov explainded, that the size of the spiral what we are in to go up has a diameter of 10 kilometers! So, we went higher and higher. In my mind were the song of Van Halen "Wings" and I was overwhelmed by my feelings a little bit, sometimes it took me while to realize what I'm doing there. It was in parts so unreal, that I thought somebody should give me a slap, so that I will wake up out of a dream, but it was real! I was thinking about to open the cockpit and go out for flying by myself. Of course, if I would have done that in real, I wouldn't sit here and talking about this experience. As we crossed 27 kilometers Alexandre moved back the wings in horizontal position but said "A little bit more is possible", so we ended on an main altitude of the day at 28.194 meters (92,500 feet). I know that this is for most of people unreal and the discussions about that is still in the ongoing since the first videos were here released in 2006, as UA-cam was one year old! But the certificate is on the wall. But doesn't matter the certificate, I was personally there! We staid 2 minutes in that altitude, then descending. Alexandre moved the Fox on the left wing and started descending, and the view of Earth was blowing my mind away. It looked like the videos made of a cam out of the cockpit of the Space Shuttle! After we were back on 10.000 meters, Alexandre said "Its your jet", and I steered it by my self, but I was so overwhelmed by feelings, that I can't do it very well! This flight influenced my mind a lot. As I came back, I was another human, and it took me weeks to understand it. Between 2004 and 2006 I attended several customers of ours who did this then and all of them came back as another human. I still remember a lady who cried in the cockpit after be back in the parking position, first we thought something bad happened to her, but Alexandre (who flown the most of our customers) said: no, anything was good, but she need a while to understand what was happenening during the flight.". In February 2006 I did it again, without cams. Only for me. In June 2006 they stopped all the programs for civilians flying at Zuchowsky nearby Moscow, and that was a tragedy for all aviators! We flown afterwards at Sokol the MIG-31, but it wasn't the same. Thanks for all of those who made this programs possible in this time! And a regard here to all of you, who have had the chance to fly with the Fox.

      As a journalist I have flown many mil a/c (Northrop F5B, Mirage 2000, A7H, F16 block 30 & 52+, Mirage 200-5 and others) but the Climb in the Fox was my greatest experience. Really out of this world, yes?

    It's unfortunate that some people cannot simply make a comment on how cool it is that a MIG approached space. The standard online these days (although I too am not a fan of it) is to abbreviate certain words. Yes there are people in the world who either have a problem spelling or just choose to express themselves as they do here. It is also unfortunate that others are so insecure that they have to tear down someone about their grammar to make themselves feel better.

    "Also the engines were different and it was more aerodynamic.The Sr-71's engines were i believe turbojets and funcitoned better at higher speeds, but fighter engines are turbofans. Thank You ShadowXIX. I read in one of my books, and they gave a chart saying that the speed was limited by the airframe, because of the temperatures it might reach. Although im not a materials expert im not sure if that is the case. I wish I could scan in the images of the charts. "

    @edawg792 They only look similar, really. They took the general layout and structure of the MiG-25, and stretched it to hold more fuel and a second cockpit for the RO (behind the pilot, rather than taking the place of the radar as you see here). They strengthened the wings and fuselage to allow supersonic flight at low altitudes, and revised the frame to allow the use of more nickel-steel, titanium, and aluminum so the structure used less weight, and added more fuel, and low-bypass turbofans.

  • @BrySkye
    @BrySkye 14 років тому

    @Sealy57 Depends in what manner. In maintaining a certain height over a fixed track, the SR-71 is the official altitude holder in horizontal flight with 85,068 feet.
    In terms of absolute altitude though, where you climb until you stall, the MiG-25 has reached an incredible 123,523 feet.
    They never attempted anything similar with the SR-71. And in all honesty, you probably wouldn't want to fly an SR-71 to the point of stalling. It was a very valuable and more fragile aircraft.

    The mig 25 is pretty old. But it was actually clocked once at mach 3.2 (also blew its engines). The Sr-71's top speed is actually mach 3.2, not 3.6. But it can sustain it's speed unlike the Foxbat.

  • @Ranzear
    @Ranzear 15 років тому

    Actually they had extreme trouble just getting the drone to detach safely.
    HOWEVER. The Phoenix missile carried by the F-14 was originally developed for the YF-12 which was the ~Interceptor model~ of the SR-71's A-12 predecessor. You can identify it by the cone nose (for combat radar) and ventral fins.
    So yes, there was an SR-71 type aircraft with the same capabilities that could launch an (albeit specially designed) air-to-air missile.

    also, there was an accident during one of the flight with tourist when one fo the engines broke down and stopped. After that reveled that the aircraft is out of service and all that tourists-buisness isn`t really leagal. Fothermore, that MiG-25 is the flying test laboratory (test-bed) so it runs out of life cycle and service muc before its written in official papers -- because of the complicated test-flights in 80`s and early 90`s. sad but true.
