@@sawboss5794 I can’t recall any. Now don’t get me wrong, Storm has countless moments but those moments were usually overshadowed by another character or it was a small event in a larger picture.
The fact that her mutant powers grow stronger the more people believe in her is a passive magical effect in itself. She has been classified as a literal goddess for this reason.

When people pray to Thor, Odin, Zues, Ra. The God's get stronger when you pray to them and they're name. Her passive ability is nothing new but it does have me wondering though.

Storm is just a comic book version of one of my Orisha spirit guides named Oya. Oya is the Orisha of Storms, Tempest, Change and Transformation. Oya is also a witch or wise woman. She is also warrior Goddess. Funny how Marvel and DC take our Melanated Ancestral Spirits and make them Superheroes. They know more than a lot of us do smh.

Since Ororo is 1/3 of the Sisterhood (Sorceress Supreme), she too has the untapped ability to rival the powers of The Phoenix Force, such as Scarlet Witch does. Can't wait for the upcoming comics to expand of that. This edition was well-needed and long-awaited. Great job on the writer's part.

@@InnerCityRocker to be honest she could simply remove the oxygen from their lungs and/or crush all of em with air pressure. She could even flood their lungs or brains with fluid or electrical synapses. She don’t need magic for enemies like sinister or any other mutant with the exception of phoenix force Jean
When she first evolved into her goddess mode when sealed inside a chrome statue she proved then that she was as powerful as the Phoenix force and when she regained control of herself she showed that she was more powerful than Jean as she really always was. But other than Scarlet Witch Storm was always capable of battling the Phoenix but always held back not wanting to hurt her friend. As an Omega Level Mutant Storm and Marvel Girl are on par with Phoenix per Marvel as far as power levels. She’s was always known to be 1/3 of the sisterhood but she herself didn’t know it which is partly why she is one of few who could contain Eternity without any negative effects.
Storm is the true MVP of mutantdom.

I believe her mutant control of weather is also connected to her ancestral magic. As exciting as it is, it adds another layer to to her versatility and how much more she can contribute on magical levels.
It does in x-men back in the day yes called oya the goddess of weather and gate keeper of the graveyard I believe its x-men the original show that x-men 97 storm has been one of my favorites because oya is one of my guardian angels in the orisha system of belief

That is true like look at her psychic bond to earth or whatever planet she’s on, nature literally speaks to her. I believe her sensitivity to nature and how nature communicates with her is souly her witch side. Storm can psychically track anyone’s location using the air like cmon now yea

I vaguely remember reading a Dr. Strange comic a while back when Dr. Strange was going over a list of who else could be a Sorcerer Supreme and Storm was on that list.
We need a story Arc where storm masters magic and combines it with her powers to battle Surtur. They don’t have to leave her that powerful, but getting her up there for one arc would be cool af.

I tend to forget that Forge actually was a practitioner. I wonder if he could rival Doom if he mixed science and magic like him.

Storm has long been my favorite Marvel character and watching her become more and more OP of late has been both awesome and terrifying. Pretty sure that some super scary variant is going to pop up sooner or later.
Yeah. I'm loving all the respect she is getting. But it also seems like they might be gearing her up for some kind of evil turn. All the other big name X-Men have had their walk down the evil aisle. So I guess it's fair.

Real world Africa is the source of a lot of the spiritual traditions of the black diaspora outside of Africa including Voudoo and Hoodoo, so I’m glad that they’re consolidating Storm’s magical history into a purposeful narrative. I hope they really incorporate this into the mystical magical community. I feel like every fans wondered about her magical roots
Storm has so much potential. She should be at the table with Wanda and Strange. She’s top tier but somehow the other X-Men always took the focus. Hard to compete with Logan on surface levels. He’s an organic terminator.
Been waiting for this for years and she deserves her entire ancestry explored in a series and her becoming a full blown magic user as well. I don't see why not at this point. Storm is good...never for evil. All she does is help. I'm actually hoping the MCU introduce her as a mutant and magic user displaying the same leadership, compassion, and tactful fighter she is just like in the comics AND stay true to ALL her already established powers as well. Added: With Wakanda Forever, in my mind I was far sure they were going to surprise us with Storm as Wakanda's Hadari Yao since Namor was a mutant God to his people.
Thinking about this story my only complaint is Wanda's non reaction to talking about Magneto's fate in AXE. But the fact is that it's a Storm story through Scarlet Witch lens so that's to be expected. Also the next issue's main story is literally her and Polaris. We'll likely get Wanda's (and maybe even Pietro's) reactions to AXE in that issue. I'm really enjoying this book so far. Great Issue.

And there has to be a collective of black writers that could create an amazing run for Storm that would propell her even more into the grander spotlight she deserves showcasing her awesomeness.

Since Ororo is a percentage of the sisterhood it will be interesting to see if she can wield magic and how she might be able to incorporate that into combination with her mutant powers.
Storm has used her lightning along with her ruby gem to open a dimensional portal once. Storm has used her own body and energy as a conduit to open another dimension back to her own world by channeling unknown energies when Magik could not when they were chasing the World-Eater. Storm has overcome power dampeners which was claimed to be her strong will. Storm is an energy manipulator who has manipulated the elements of other worlds many of times as her powers are basically cause and effect and is mostly thought of as chaotic.
Most of all Ororo and Wanda has never been on the same page as being good friends and I’ve always wanted a story arc with Storm, Phoenix, Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch because for a long time they have demonstrated the same type of energy as far as being outright powerful on a whole other level. I call them the Great I Am; I Am Phoenix, I Am Goddess, I Am Binary and I Am Chthon. I hope this do continue and Wanda can teach Storm a bit more about her lineage since for some odd reason Storm doesn’t seem to have any family members at all…not one with powers that’s alive and active for sure. Her father is from New York so she should have a half brother and sister and trillion of cousins but I guess Jean and Scott didn’t leave any room for anyone else to have kids.
I believe Gambit has magic potential as well cause he’s a Cajun from New Orleans and even though he’s not Creole I believe he does cause he was born with those eyes like Storm were born with her eyes and hair. The Goddess and the Devil and that also explains their relationship which is more than friendly.

Storm was the third mutant that Professor Xavier met before founding the X-Men (the first being Magneto, followed by Sage).
Storm is currently one of the only people on Earth-616 who has been a member of the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four (Spiderman and Wolverine being the other).
She is very under-rated.
Love this upload and I ADORE the amazing treatment of Storm in recent times. She has always been an amazing character with plenty of great and defining moments... If Storm could get that damn elemental form we have been teased with a couple times decades ago that would be great. I don't care if it's her mutant powers or her magical powers.
Also... I think a story where Storm agrees to have her mutant powers suppressed for a while to force her to train her magic up would be fun. Or maybe learning mutant magic from Apocalypse and/or Genesis and/or Saturnyne.
I've been wanting to see Storm tap into her magic side for years: hopefully she will do it eventually. And I also want her to get Stormbringer (her Asgardian hammer) back. It was destroyed twice before and it came back to her; no reason why it couldn't happen again.

I got some catching up to do on your videos.
I always thought that having mutants with magical powers was a bit of "crossing the streams", but then again, it's not as though "mutant powers" were really ever all that "scientific".
I'm reminded of when an ancient wizard was puzzled by the powers of the Legion of Super-Heroes and then shrugged and said something to the effect that he didn't have time to analyze this "new power" that had come into the universe at the moment, he'd just have to destroy them and ask questions later.

In Scarlett Witch #2 writer Stephanie Williams did Ororo major justice changing Storm from having “untapped magical potential” to having active witch powers. In this issue Wanda needed to go somewhere but the place she needed to go required 2 beings of magical birthright to enter and even Storm tried to apologize saying “Wanda I’m flattered but I’m no practicing sorceress” to which Wanda shut everything down saying “the potency of ur BIRTHRIGHT dwells in u nonetheless” Aka u might depend on ur Atmokinesis (weather manipulation) in battle but even that is powered by witchcraft as u come from a long Royal powerful line of African witches that’s goes back to the dawn of humanity itself and also blessed by demiurge elder Goddess Oshtur n her sister Gaea. Once they got to the island Storm noticed that their was something covered in fog and she cleared it to which Wanda said “Ororo u r def part of the sisterhood”. Storm didn’t know what she meant and Wanda said “u see things others do not that was no ordinary fog it was a magical barrier meant to keep this island hidden as I said before practicing sorceress or not ur gifts are potent” also aka (ima keep breaking it down for y’all) the island that they went to was hidden by MAGIC but Ororo could see the island cuz she’s a magical being. Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Beast etc WOULDNT of seen the island it would’ve been completely hidden to their eyes, Jean n the professor wouldn’t even be able to see it they might’ve been able to sense it cuz they psychic but Storm being a witch and of magical birthright whether she likes it or not could sense and SEE it, that’s her witch side coming out. It’s now canon that Storm even tho she doesn’t practice the magic in her bloodline is so powerful that has STILL developed her witch powers despite not actively practicing and they surface for her whenever the situation calls for it even if she doesn’t realize it. So now we know Storm has “witch sight” n “magical awareness”. Not to mention the fog was a magical barrier like a force field, made of MAGIC. Remember Storm saw the fog first and cleared it out the way, a FOG force field made of magic which means that when Storm brought the force field down she thought she was jus using her weather powers which she was but Wanda was telling her when u brought the magic force field down u used magic as only magic can undo magic. So now we also know her magic is tied into her weather manipulation. After that lesson they face a powerful water demon that Wanda couldn’t defeat on her own, Storm tried to help but mocks her mutant powers as ⚡️ didn’t work against it. Wanda tells Ororo she meant why she said about her being part of the “sisterhood of witches” n to focus on that (magic) when she summons ⚡️ and in that moment Storm cast her first spell saying “GREAT ANCESTOR AYESHA I CALL UPON U FLOW THROUGH ME SO THAT WE MAY OBTAIN WHAT WE SEEK N NOTHING MORE”, as she said that her ⚡️ turns into the 7 power symbol n binds the water demon n place. Fun fact Ayesha is Storms great great great great many many greats grandmother and the first human Sorceress Supreme holding the title for almost 4,000yrs. Ayesha used the magic from the family’s bloodline to make her durable n extend her lifespan another testament of the things Storm could do if she started practicing. Ayesha was also the most powerful magic user n her time as Aggamotto was looking for the next Sorcerer supreme n came to earth n held a competition with ALL earths magic users competing with their own raw powers for the title n AYESHA won. Ayesha was the first of Storms ancestors to thanks to her mom have the power to wield raw arcane mystical power n witchcraft, raw power n magic from her father who was a Faltine as Ayesha could also travel the multiverse. Ayesha Faltine father is also where the blue eyes n white hair comes from (like Clea who’s also half Faltine). The third blessing of power given to Ayesha when she was born came Oshtur herself, Oshtur blessed Ayesha with the power to control the forces of nature n that particular known as the “windrider gene” surfaced n the bloodline every 5 generations (all women of the line were born witches with powerful magic but Oshtur blessed them as every 5 generations one gets to be born with blue eyes n white hair presence of the Faltine n also the weather manipulation). Ayesha used all that n battle Aggamotto made her Sorceress Supreme she was so powerful. GODDAMN THIS ALL JUS SHOWS HOW EVEN MORE POWERFUL STORM WOULD BECOME IF SHE STARTED PRACTICING HER MAGICAL BIRTHRIGHT. SHE WOULD BECOME A TELEPATH, TRAVEL THE MULTIVERSE, SPELL CASTING N EVERYTHING. Her blood line already made her a real Goddess allowing ppl to pray to her and now we know SOME of her witch powers have developed n been around all along letting us know the magic n her from her bloodline is so powerful that abilities have manifested n are “potent” as Wanda said even tho she doesn’t practice

So love this..... I have been following storm in her comic book stories for a long time, but this magical journey is one of the first times I've heard of this. I hope to hear more of this, being so so beautiful.
Being the Hadori Yao the goddess that preserves the natural balance. Since magic is a natural energy within the universe it makes sense she’s able to tap in to that pool of energy since. She’s not just an omega level weather manipulator but also a great energy manipulator. I always tie Ororo’s powers with her connection with Oshtur who is the mother of the vishanti.
Now this is cool. I didn't know Storm had magic chops but not surprised to hear, she's bad ass
I loved this issues and the back up feature was awesome considering Storm has been at the forefront of X-men
I think Storm being " immortal " will play out eventually.. Her not being in the resurrection protocol kinda means she is bound to " die ".. She will comeback though, in a divine or " magical " way.. Maybe even in a younger form.

I can agree with that, Ororo is a literal Goddess used to be considered one cuz of her godlike powers but now not jus considered but found out to actually have be one by birth right. She is the prophesied goddess “Hadari Yao” and let’s not forget it was her ancestors who have her the gift of “godhead” making her a God. Like T’Challa said it’s “more than any mutation” meaning u being a god has nothing to do with u being a mutant, ur witch ancestors knew u would come and give u this gift. I believe the only thing she has to do is die, shed from her mortal body and complete the transformation, it’s called “Posthumous Deification”, jus like the Orisha Shango did. She’s already basically unstoppable All she needs is durability and if she actually started practicing she could gain new witch powers like self healing, telepathy, power absorption, power negation etc. Ororos Ancestor “Ashake” while practicing one of her many powers was illusion casting, something like how Wanda does with the nightmares on the avengers in “age of ultron”. Can u image of Storm started being a telepath n casting illusions on others n battle? I really want her to start practicing, they have to make her please

So glad you made this video. Claremont threw out a lot easter eggs back in the 80s...especially around the time she lost her powers wnd fought the Dire Wraiths with Forge, but never gave us a payoff. So glad Stephanie Williams picked it up and gave us a great story.

Something we won't ever get but the best case scenario would be to upgrade her mutant ability to energy manipulation. When looking at her history storms ability is more akin to energy manipulation that manifests thru Elemental Manipulation. Seeing as her ancestors had similar abilities I feel writers need to decide what is her weather abilities. Has it always been a Mutant ability magic. Whatever they decide I hope her future use of magic empowers her to do way more akin to Thor levels of power👌🏿

I have all the issues from the 80s you mentioned. This magical aspect of her bloodline now makes her actions in those issues even more valid and explains her transformation into “Rogue Storm”. I hope her magical potential is explored in the MCU.

I just want to say bro every time this topic comes up about storm and mystical Powers I'm always referring them to this video that you did. Even now with the new X-Men 97 Out I'm referring people to this video because you break it down perfectly.
I would LOVE a Conan/xmen crossover. He could stumble upon Storm’s hyborisn ancestor’s house or be helping her somehow and be transported to the future and meet Wolverine and Storm. He explains what little he understands of why/how he came to be there and he hands her a gem (identical to the one she used to wear on her original costume) and they would be transported back to Conan’s time. Theee she could be instrumental in defeating whatever villain was the focus of that battle and then learn some magic to help get them back home.

6:15 Technically I pointed out the Storm weather transformation when she fought Dr. Doom for a long time now. I think Storm's powers will evolve to include her having a full weather elemental physical form. I'm happy Storm is with the Brotherhood because she's a much better leader on the battle field than sitting on a boring throne.
To make my own head canon, I figure the mutant gene itself generates and holds a type of psionic raw energy that interacts with the minds and bodies of the mutant causing physiological changes and/or energy interactions that ultimately are their powers. That energy naturally interacts with other existing energy sources such as the various pools of magical energies, cosmic pools of power, the psychic plane and even some unnaturally created science/tech based energy sources. With those interactions we get the tendencies for powers linked to astral planes, other dimensions such as Limbo, god realms, geological forces, etc. hence we get Storm probably naturally channeling psionic and mystic energies into her control over weather.
That lends to how powerful her weather control actually is, but can also be focused into her mystic potential development. Basically, her mutation and link to mysticism go hand in hand to making her Omega, and could just as much be the raw power that could go into being a Sorcerer Supreme level practitioner.
In the past I used to see mystic and cosmic powers as wholly separate from mutant power levels, but the specificity of the mutation may be what syncs various mutants with cosmic and mystic abilities, just as a “regular” witch without X genes would.

Storm is basically becoming that universal force that can not be stopped-magic potency, omega lvl mutant, and leader of a united brotherhood. Love to see it
All she needs to do is stop being around the xmen, mainly Charles, Magneto, Wolverine, Scott. And go back to her roots. Like going by to Kenya

I think all writers can do better for Storm then make her go back "home."

She later went to her mother's homeland whom a friend of her mother's train her to use her powers, thn Charles basically told her your not a god or a queen just a mutant so come with me. Yes she is born in NYC but, she barely has any ties with it seeing as she spent most of her life in Kenya and Egypt

Storm is one of the most powerful entities in marvel comics. An Omega level mutant, Sorceress, and a goddess. This combination is and has to be unique to her.
Unfortunately, some Storm fans on CBR only want her to be a mutant. I recently praised Coates and his writing her godhood, but the "fans" there got pressed saying Ewing did better by just making her a mutant.

There is no godhood in her lineage. Fans were pressed about it because that is not who she is as it was literally stated in Giant Size all new all deady X-Men #1.

If storm is to somehow get murked in sins of sinister I bet her barely tapped into magic will somehow revive her. They didn’t throw this in for no reason. I hope. It would def be a great missed opportunity in some kind of storytelling thread imo.

EXCELLENT video man!!! I actually did some fan art of a Storm as the sorcerer supreme. In the 90s X-Men cartoon Storm kind of seem like a magic character to me, it’s the way she would be the way she would before she would did a attack.
Storm was named in that Ian McKnee series, as an descendant of Ayesha & Ashake servants of Oshtur, that was the reason why they all have that white hair,plus remember When she became the Goddess of ⛈️and weirded Mjolnir. When her physical body died in the XMen the End series remember when she became like the Demiurge and became 1 with the atmosphere? That's Elder God level shit ,right there!!

Just a minor correction though - Ayesha of Balobedu is not the second Sorcerer Supreme after Agamotto. That honor goes to Saraswati of Akah-Maat. Ayesha was the FIRST HUMAN BORN to ever earn the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
Also, I would like to include that Storm is 1/3 of the title of Marvel's High Priestess whom she shares equally with Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) and Agatha Harkness - both are extremely powerful witches. Also, in a gathering of heroes like the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange - only she (minus Strange) is capable of housing the essence of Eternity himself in her being.
