    Great job explaining a lot of material! You explained just the right balance of easy to understand while being technically useful. would you mind talking about the space required for a solar power plant, as well the output wattage of the panels ie. is 460w better than 550 or 350W. Thank you

    • @SCADASupportPh
      @SCADASupportPh  Рік тому +1

      @wolfmanj3 The space required for a solar PV power plant depends on several factors such as the total wattage of the panels, the efficiency of the panels, and the desired output of the plant. Generally, a 1 MW solar PV power plant requires approximately 4 acres of land. However, this can vary based on the specific conditions and design of the power plant.
      In terms of panel wattage, higher wattage panels such as 550W and 460W may have advantages in terms of space utilization and efficiency. With higher wattage panels, fewer panels are required to generate the same amount of power compared to lower wattage panels. This can lead to space savings, which can be particularly beneficial for large-scale power plants where land can be a significant cost.
      However, it's important to note that higher wattage panels may also be more expensive, and their installation and maintenance may require specialized equipment and expertise. Additionally, the selection of panel wattage should be based on factors such as the available space, local solar irradiance levels, and project budget, among others.
      Overall, the choice of panel wattage depends on several factors, and it's important to evaluate each project's unique requirements and constraints to determine the most appropriate solution.

    Hi everyone,
    I have a couple of question, Can a common switchgear be used for both battery and solar in 3-7 MW َAC-Coupled projects, and then connected to a transformer and grid, or should separate switchgears be considered for the battery and transformer, separate from the solar system?
    Moreover, the voltage and frequency of the Inverter and PCS systems are exactly the same.
    Thanks

    • @SCADASupportPh
      @SCADASupportPh  Рік тому +1

      @alirezakosari , It's possible but I would say a risky approach and will be dependent to the specific requirements of the project, the design of the switchgear, and the regulations in the location where the project will be installed.
      Based on sites that I've seen and worked on, there are separate switchgears for the BESS and transformer, separate from the solar PV energy system considering safety requirements, reliability in operation as well as different protection requirements.
      Regarding the voltage and frequency of the Inverter and PCS systems being exactly the same, this can simplify the system design and reduce the need for additional equipment, however it is still important to ensure that all components are properly sized and integrated to mitigate any issues during daily operations that could potentially lead to damage or safety issues.

      @@SCADASupportPh Thanks for your reply to my comment. I do have a few suggestions: In the other video about SCADA, you had mentioned a little bit about SCADA control function (software section). It would be great if you can provide a little bit more information about the controls, for example, wind stowing controls and how it communicates with the MET system? can SCADA over-ride wind stow safety commands, etc., Also, any inputs on standards to refer to for control and protection systems for solar PV would be great.

    • @SCADASupportPh
      @SCADASupportPh  2 роки тому +2

      @Haritha Yes, the control functionality will only exist if your Software has "Write" functionality or commands to your field devices.
      For wind stow functionality, the tracker angle is the one being controlled here and there should be a controller or a PLC near the tracker system that would recognize / interpret the signal from your SCADA system and would interact with the motor of each tracker.
      On the met station, there would be a remote Data Logger that would act as local data acquisition system..... - and I'll make sure to publish the video I have in the pipeline for this.
      The experience I got that are related to Control and Protection systems are more on the standard hardware - Circuit Breakers , Disconnects, and for those that are within the Substation ; RTAC, Protection /Feeder Relays, etc

    There is a big substation around 6 km from my power plant base. Is this means that I don't need to build a local substation in my 10 mw power plant and can use that one instead?

    • @SCADASupportPh
      @SCADASupportPh  2 роки тому

      @caveman thanks for your comment. I do have some items that needs further clarification on:
      1. What is the relationship of the big substation to your power plant? is it a part of your system, or dedicated for a different entity? (e.g. Utility, or other systems)
      2. If you have a 10MW Solar Power Plant, are you sending energy production to the Grid or Utility?

    • @Caveman00BC
      @Caveman00BC 2 роки тому +1

      @@SCADASupportPh 1-The substation doesn't belong to my power plant, it's for the city 2- The power plant energy would be for the grid.

    • @SCADASupportPh
      @SCADASupportPh  2 роки тому

      @@Caveman00BC based on the answers you have above, I would assume that the system you have now is not to be considered as a Power Plant but a large commercial PV system wherein you have no controls on the output generation like curtailment, deration and the like. Meaning, at any given point in time, the total output power of your system is equivalent to the sum of your (online) inverter's power output.
      With a PV plant this size, I would suggest to coordinate with your EPC ( Engineering, procurement and construction) team, to revisit the design and the regulatory framework affecting such
      substation installations as well as the grid connection agreement. Grid connection and potential substation
      requirements should be listed on the Initial Electrical Layouts.
      Key electrical systems must be designed in detail. This will include equipment required for protection, earthing and interconnection to the grid. The following
      designs and specifications should be prepared during procurement stage:
      • Overall single line diagrams.
      • Medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) switch
      gear line diagrams.
      • Protection systems.
      • Interconnection systems and design.

      @SCADASupportPh  Рік тому

      @frederickdelatonga prior to 2019 there are only 2 types of Solar Energy system installations, the OFF-GRID; which uses backup battery for energy storage and night time demand and the other is GRID-TIED systems; grid backfeeding which is the one being described in this presentation.
      Beginning 2020 the HYBRID; grid tied system + battery storage solution became popular with the addition of the it's components (charge controllers, battery bank, battery-based grid-tie inverter etc).
      Battery storage are popular mainly on residential and commercial usage, however when it comes to power plants, the ROI for battery storage vs the cost of adding it on top of an existing or new Power Plant's implementation cost is still for debate.
