The worst is getting an open window to attack, going for it, and then whiffing completely because his hitbox is just out of dagger range when you're right next to him. Pain.
@@the_jersey_side At least it's cool as hell and not the annoying type like the Foreskin guys... And the soundtrack slaps too. Idk why I decided to go sadistic mode. Strength builds are so easy in comparison.
Have you done an Ornamental Straight Sword run? Those charged R2 combos ramp up insane damage… such a fun weapon. Love your channel, glad you’re representing the greatest state!
Thanks man! Through the good and the bad, I love being from NJ! Ornamental straight sword is one of the 3 weapons on my to-do list. It's one of the few paired weapon in the game which is already cool. I really believe holy damage will get much better in the DLC. Plus, I always love a good, fast attacking weapon. Thanks for the suggestion!
When I first found your channel, I had just started using Moonveil in NG+ and it was absurdly powerful compared to my Cold Longsword. But it also showed me how much I sucked as a player since I was using it more as a crutch instead of leaning into its innate strengths. I'm curious how well I'll do with a Moonveil build, now that I'm also finally at NG+7 myself.
I highly recommend you give it another try! I did multiple early runs with moonveil before I started making videos, so I was familiar with the weapon and how comparatively easy this run would be. With that prior knowledge and nearly 2 additional years of skill, the run went much better than the last time I used Moonveil. It was a great way to gauge improvement at the game!
I was so bad... I actually felt dirty using it. Transient moonlight r2 would stagger almost everything in the game with one or two casts. I was so happy when I found it because I thought it was so cool, but it ended up feeling like I activated extra easy mode, so I stopped using it after a while... Still one of the coolest weapons in the game in my opinion.
@@dentanau that stagger was something else. I think katanas in general had busted stagger no? I’d say don’t feel too bad, because if you beat the game before patch you had some crazy bosses to contend with. Radahn for instance lol.
The reason for that is more attack! Katanas are great for super aggression and strat getting the successive attack boost after 3 attacks. Using Erdtree's Favor or Graven Mass would be better for a defensive build. If defense is what you need, they would be perfect for your build!
I need an opinion, are you going into the DLC on NG+7? Because I’m debating on doing so myself considering I’m currently on NG+6. I just need your thoughts😂
initially, no, I'm gonna do an NG run to have an easier time and explore. Immediately after I finish it for the first time, I'm going in at NG+7, though!
@muni7188 I certainly recommend the Snow Witch Hat for that boost to Adula's Moonblade. You can use more of the snow Witch set if you want to light roll and Blaidd's set if you want to medium roll. Rellana's Cameo will really help with your Ash of War damage, since it is a stance Ash of War!
Moonveil OP! And well uchi, that one too. I would also give Death's poker the spot as one of the best weapons on NG+(x), scaling on that thing is just too good.
Bump up that Int and Death's Poker is such a monster. The way it takes out Fire Giant and Elden Beast is great. And it'll probably be the easiest Godskin Duo fight you'll ever do! lol
@@the_jersey_side It really is a monster, for Godskin Duo all you need to do is throw a sleep pot and you can kill them before they wake up. (Seppuku helps here) You can also do it without the sleep pot, and it still is really easy with this weapon. That being said, I would skip it for PVP as there are much better options. Low range, and it is a greatsword. You are probably better off with a Claymore if you want a greatsword. I need to test it out someday on Fire Giant and Elden Beast, I didn't think about using it on these fights.
@iamerror1699 Indeed! I'm hoping we'll see even more of sleep come this DLC. Judging by its story focus and the fact we only have one sleep weapon atm, my hopes are high! Fire Giant is a great target for the poker because of how easy it is to keep him in the ghost flame. Elden Beast too! He may have decent magic resist and Frostbite immunity, but the Beast is a massive target for the Ash!
You could, just keep in mind the change in moveset, a touch more carry weight, and the nerf to status effects while dual wielding. Status effects from dual wielded weapon moves are reduced compared to single weapons. Adula's moonblade will be much better at inflicting frostbite, but if you like the dual katana moveset, go for it!
Is the build and stats still viable after the DLC for NG+7? I really like the moonveil but I haven't used it in a pretty long time since it got nerfed in the past as well. I'm currently on NG+3 lvl 270
@MrSr3nity_97 Yes it is! At your level you should be able to level up Intelligence and Dex even further. A change for the DLC you may make is putting in the Two Handed Sword Talisman if you like the R1s and R2s, or Rellana's Cameo to power up the Stance Ash of War
@@the_jersey_side I do like R1s & R2s. Last question bro if you don't mind :) Since I'll be two handing the moonveil with the talisman sword, should I put my points into strength? Or do I keep on putting the points towards Dex & Intelligence?
@MrSr3nity_97 I would keep investing in Dexterity and Intelligence. Sure strength is effectively multiplied by 1.5 when you 2 hand, but the scaling on moonveil is only E in strength at +10. Stick to dex and int for sure!
Yes! There's a couple Talismans that come to mind. The two-handed sword Talisman from the temple town ruins will boost your r1 and r2 attack damage if you use those attacks a lot and two hand the weapon. If you prefer to hold a staff in your left hand and use the Ash of War, Rellana's Cameo from Castle Ensis will boost that Ash of War damage, since this is a stance Ash of War like Unsheathe
@@the_jersey_sidethank you! Why do you not just powerstance moonveil with another katana? Is there an argument against it? Doesn’t this just flat out improve your damage besides increased stamina reduction?
@evgvc. Good question! There are a couple of reasons why you would use 1 instead of 2. Using a sword instead of a staff, of course, will prevent you from spell casting. The status effect from dual wielded weapons is reduced. Also, weight can be a consideration if your maximizing your medium armor protection or trying to light roll. The moveset is also very different, I've always preferred the single katana over the dual katana moveset, but they both have their perks!
@@the_jersey_sidethanks for the insights again! Does status build up also get reduced if you don’t dual wield the single weapon? Or is one handing it and staff on the left always the thing to do?
@evgvc It should be only when using the dual wield attacks. R1s with staff in the left hand should have normal buildup! You might still get normal status build up with R1s while dual wielding, but I would have to check that!

@RiseUpification I haven't tried it out post patch yet, but the nerf doesn't seem too awful. Even if poise damage was roughly halved, it still can be used to keep poise down by passively casting the Ash of War
Flame of the Redmanes got destroyed, it went from 40 poise damage all the way down to 10! I sort of have a misericorde build up. I call it the "Leatn to Parry" build. It's super tanky with high dex and a buckler, focusing in survivability so you can learn parry timings!
