I was there 15 years ago and took the big green bus all the way to the last stop at MT Elias station. We camped out for two separate nights in the bush! Had to carry two bear proof containers and were suppose to have our sleep area 100 yards from our cooking area as well as for the bathroom area. On the ride out there we saw bear, caribou and a alpha male wolf with a radio collar on. Also saw several clear views of Mt Denali...which is sorta rare?! Ohhh did I say it can rain a lot too!
This has been super helpful in preparing for my Denali trip! Thanks so much! If it weren't for this video, I might have foolishly shunned boots in favor of my tried-and-true trailrunners that I always backpack with (in the Rockies). Thanks for the reality check!
I’m going in mid September with 5 buddy’s to try to get permits to backpack for 5 days. We are trying to make a top 10 grid list because we know it’s first come first served. That way we can go down the list depending on what’s available. What grid did you end up doing ? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you. ✌🏻
Gaz W Very rare. We did use canisters but weren't able to hang them as there are few trees. We cooked a few hundred feet from our tent and carried firearms as a last resort
Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Thank you for watching! Looks like you know a thing or two about adventures yourself.
Very nice video! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Germany, Attila
Thanks for watching and enjoying!
This looks like it was amazing trip. Capturing the wolves was awesome.

What are the chances of a bear attack if you cook near your tent. Don’t hang your bag. Were you using bear canisters. What time of year is this.
