The Travis Bean doesn't get enough credit IMHO. It's often dismissed in discussions of Jerry's guitars, unlike Alligator, Wolf, Tiger, Rosebud, Lightning Bolt, all the way back to the Gibson SG. I don't know if it's because of the TB but his playing and the sound was awesome in 76 and especially Spring 77
You are so right! 1976 & 1977 had such a unique sound compared to every year before and after for Jerry and the TB was the key! It is such a bright and plucky sound.
This is smoking hot. What's he make history every time he picks up a guitar! I'd so so. I'd be bouncing off the walls if I was at this show. Good stuff!
This video used to be amazing now every two minutes it goes to ads plus there's a complete version hopefully that doesn't have ads right in the middle of it I get monetization but still have a heart
I'm 41. Been listening to Jerry and the Dead all my life. Got to see them on Jerry's last tour. One of my favorite things about them is how I can keep discovering stuff I've never heard before.

I didn’t know that John had a TB . I wonder how long he used it ? I am left handed so I have never had the opportunity to check one out, I have seen people saying they have one . I have more than enough guitars. I was at my first concert and I asked Jerry if I could sit behind the amps and he let me and Bear dosed me and got hooked up with some of his dealers. I also smoked a joint with him. I loved Jerry and now Phil is gone. I have a nice who went to a bar and she saw Phil and a picture of them together.⚡️🎸⚡️❤️

@@user-dc1dr9kr8x we were def there for this show from Maryland! It is always a continued process, song, journey and road! Nice to be on the road and know where you're going! ❄️🌎❄️❣️🤣👌❣️
Got into Garcia and the dead a little late - I was a sophomore in high school when I realized there was a whole world of their music apart from what was played on FM radio! Right around this time - 1977 - 1978, working part time in Manhattan as a messenger, and broadening my horizons!
Som people don’t like Donna but imagine this tune without her. Jerry really liked her. I met Jerry at my first live show, I asked him if I could sit behind the amps and he yes. F p I run into is Bear dropping. Liquid acid on the back of people’s hands and then they licked it off. I put my hand out and he put four big drops on the back of my hand and I licked it off. First show I passed the acid test. I enjoyed Kieth and Donna and I was sorry they left but until 1979 when they were asked to go their way. I loved Brint and after he died Jerry was going downhill. I met my wife at a show. It’s been years since he died and I miss him.All the Dead family were good people, thanks LSD and the Dead. ⚡️🎸⚡️
I dont know the name of the player puffing a cig. Id never be a cig smoker but that adds such a relaxing vibe to this jam seeing him smoke while melting away.

Jerry is brilliant in this song. While this song is over 20 minutes long, you still want this song to continue. He was a master.

This is a question, for Steve Parish; the caretaker of Jerry's guitars.
He had two TB guitars. TB and TB1000. I love both the guitars.

WOW!
The way the keys and bass work together to give Jerry the perfect groove to go to work on is really amazing.
Don’t forget the funky Tutt

How is this performance not on a live album 😭
So much joy on stage. I tried to show you, but you drive me back. #nfa
I was on at the show at the Capitol Theater I remember this tour that was amazing
I was born on July 9 1966. I watch this with joy and happiness. Thank God I saw GD, and JGB. Thank God I have some of those memories intact.❤️
Prime Jerry ⛽️⛽️⛽️
I like how he could improvise on a song and keep it interesting for over 20 minutes. He was a genius in improvisation.
I was there :)
To say that Jerry Garcia is a genius musician is a complete understatement!

20 minute jam?!! You kidding me?! This is Smoking Hot.
20 minute incomplete jam. You could smoke a brisket with this cut.
This could be the perfect Travis Bean commercial. Too long for TV, but perfect for UA-cam.
Would love to here Jerry and Patti Smith do this together.
