Excellent, it brings a tear to my eye to think in 2 days, Aug 1, 2017, it would have been Jerry's 75th birthday, and he's been gone 22 years. It all went so fucken fast and I feel so old!!!!!!!!!
Yeah dude!! Glad you feel that.. He get's fuckin down and they really vibe!! 7:57-12:00 The crescendo and that vibin is amazing. Check Jerry's face out at 9:58!!
I really like how Garcia had no problem with other musicians in the band going off in different musical directions. Garcia was not a control freak at all like others who delivered the same rendition in the same set list order no matter where they played. Of course, in this video we see JGB hit it out of the park! Especially Godchaux.
You're so correct true and righteous I've always noticed that about Jerry my best musical experience was Oakland Coliseum 10:27/91 after Bill Graham died in a helicopter crash going from SF to Concord for Huey Lewis show 4 days in Golden Gate Park Neil Young Santana Pearl Jam then 4 days at the Oakland Coliseum I did for the first time liquid acid second set open with who the f*** knows melting Aiko into Mona Jerry Bob Gary Duncan Quicksilver Messenger Service Santana senior Carlos and yeah whether it's Jerry and Steve Winwood Jerry and Pete Townsend Jerry and John chipolina he always takes a step back in the shadows the shadows of humbleness and humility we can all learn a lot from Jerry and dogs when someone does this wrong forget about it and kiss and make up as soon as we can why can't we understand that we're living under the Boot Hill of the man San Rafael Marin County California San Francisco Tucson Arizona Sonoran Desert cactus hot sun lot of rocks thorns crown of thorns bake like a snake slow like the tortoise lizards more sun rocks no rain I feel their pain I may be going insane but still I remain I Lucca continua we not give up the fight Rastafari Africa Addis Ababa Ethiopia Selassie I yes I we are all African Lucy Australopithecus afarensis Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds l s d Dr Leakey Shane Goodall Dian Fossey hominids respect
The late 70s and early 80s we used to see the Garcia Band at the Keystone 4-5 times a year. We were so lucky to be in the Bay Area and see Gerry whenever he played. Those were incredible shows.
so true...if i may ad to your comment, . i was an very active heroin addict at the time, late 70's, and i remember one night on University Ave, waiting for my connection and jerry was playing inside at the keystone..... absolutely no crowds.... and extremely loud!!!!! jerry no doubt was already in pocket and could concentrate on the music.... the rest of us were outside hustling for 100$ tenths :) good times :)
I was there , Asbury Park NJ , on the boardwalk, right on the beach . Haunted Convention Hall . Ron Tutt is the drummer , he worked with Elvis Presley. Donna is under the weather, Keith is singing backup vocals. This was my first JGB show, I had floor seats, the ticket price was $7.14 + tax = $7.50 !
Hey Smoky !! I was there too . Not sure if I saw you ? But , it’s great to catch up after all of these years !! I hope that you’ve been well !!! Next night , I went to Madison Square Garden to see Emerson Lake & Palmer with a 58 piece orchestra and choir . Quite the doubleheader !! Strangers stopping strangers , just to shake their hand !!
