Go play it, it really has a nice story and gameplay, with features like multiplayer arena and tower defence, raids, events from time to time (There were even 2 collaborations, one with Dragon Quest I think, the other I don't remember). Can't wait for the 16th world releasing on global version and playing it.
Okay I'm honestly surprised the video game publisher was okay with you digging at them like that in a sponsor spot, this was very cool and refreshing to see.
The odd placements of the left arm actually make me wonder if the Devs did it on purpose, that way it'd be easier to tell which direction the player is facing at a glance.
Good video, I really enjoyed playing this game and seeing what goes into it is fascinating. Kind of disappointed we didn't get anything on Earth when you go to fight Garmantous as well as a closer look of Garmantuous himself and those random characters in Nipulon's lounge. I wonder how much of the humans is actually rendered when they're seen using them as drugs.
the black hole seems to be a shader. i've seen some, for example, blender tutorials on recreating this effect. it's just a sphere with refraction with varying index depending on how far away from the centre of the sphere is a point of the sphere
Luckily it's easy to break outside the boundaries with the jetpack and have a look around. There's a surprising amount of surfaces you can bounce around behind the walls, especially in the city.
I've generally been waiting for someone to take the camera out of bounds the show the different techniques used to make high on life world come together I'm so glad that you did it thank you so much
Its still crazy to me how a game can de-load and load environments so fast during a transition. Possibly thousands of separate objects, invisible markers and other things vanishing in less then a few milliseconds while loading in others moments later. 12:12
You can't see black holes because they suck all light so how can you see that considering how cameras, eyes and beams work. What you are noting in similarities is not similar but the same thing you've seen before which are CGI images. Black holes aren't real.
I'm thinking the lizzy that was stored under the stairs was used as either a placeholder for testing, or for the voice of when she is telling you to get off the game from the other room over..

The texture on the cube at 5:35 looks like a trim sheet - a texture that you put multiple reusable slices of texture on for easy reuse across one or more models. Maybe it was put there for quick reference / grabbing UVs during modelling? Though that'd be something I'd use a quad for.
to render a black hole with curved-space, you use a fragment=pixel shader with ray-marching (or a specific faster estimate for a simple sphere, but this here looks a lot more like ray-marched). ray-marching a black-hole is iterative ray-tracing, where every pixel is the result of stepping along a ray in small steps, and the ray gets curved by the blaxkck hole after every step. a black hole needs 200-500 steps for each pixel. this can be quite cpu-intensive. shadertoy has opensource examples of those in opengl-webgl. ray marching is also used for many clouds (horizon zero) and to estimate ray-traced-ambient-occlusion (only in screen-space) via reshade, which CAN look quite close to rtx-raytracing, but it is significantly worse and less efficient (but also easier to patch-in).

The black hole is just a layered card that faces the camera at all times. Hate to say it, but it's not all that special. As for the game, you must be new to it. It was a absolute mess when it came out. I kept finding issues all over the place. Still very broken from what I'm told.
Speaking of clipping geometry, there are a few places (i specifically found them in the slums) that have missing textures. If you look around the works area, you can find several alcoves that are transparent from the inside.
until this video i had no fucking clue that the game started on a normal earth and your character was just a human i hadn't played it and just thought you were one of the weird aliens that lives in this fever dream world thought up by rick and morty after a off kilter trip to the shrooms dimension
eh I can still enjoy it as Roiland didn't personally design the game himself, so not really fair to paint everyone that worked on it with the same brush.
I get that and even gave you a like for it because you have a clear moral stance, but on the opposite side of the spectrum, a massive team of innocent decent hard working people made this game who are just trying to survive and feed their families so I think it's ok to buy and support this game. And if you have gamepass to play it on, you're already paying for it so you might as well play it now.
Developers like to hide character models nearby to set up for the next scene. It's easier to have the model ready and rendered than it is to have it pop in.
There's an area that you wait an hour to get into but then the door breaks and you never get to see what's on the other side. I'm dying to know what's on the other side lol
have you ever thought of going out of bounds in Doctor Who: The Adventure Games? it will be a bit difficult going out of bounds, but hopefully it might work.
Really enjoyed this game until I got every collectable and the achievement glitched. Wish it didn’t, I would still be achievement hunting. I had a good time. Thanks for the boundary break!

I play on Xbox and have found 3 ways to get outside of the map naturally within the game, tho one was going back into a boss area after the boss was finished and was only able to do so once with maxed out jet pack. The other 2 tho work every time
