    Great job on this follow up video. I have been looking at similar racks to these on ebay and this was the only real review i could find. Answered all my questions. Thanks!

    Thank you for your review! I had planned on purchasing one but after seeing the hardtop issues I have decided not to purchase one.

    Super cool, just bought this, want to use it for camping, not super heavy weights so hoping the rain gutter cracking won't be an issue. There is also an extra plate I got in mine which looks like it bolts over the rain gutter and under and o to the frame, almost like pulling/keep the gutter close to the frame mount, but we'll see. I also saw some guys using some rubber as a base lining below the metal that goes into the gutter so I'll maybe try that, not sure if that will help, but I'm hoping it might be a good way of soaking up a little of the downforce from the front weight. No instruction manual is a pain, but I got lucky and found your installation video, so thanks for that!

    The feet of a roof rack are the most critical component. You really need at least 4 per side to handle dynamic loads. Downward force is a minor issue when compared to the side forces generated when a vehicle sways from side to side on a trail or lousy road. Always add at least one extra set of feet regardless of the brand. Those forces need to be spread out.

    I think one of the "pros" of that design is that you can use the vertical sections over the windows for storage. The powder coating from these Chinese suppliers is horrible, however.

    can this roof rack stand your roof tent without any problem ? does it bend the rain gutters? what is the laoding capacity of the roofrack ? did you have to put extra aluminium rail slots to install the tent into your current roofrack?

    • @TheOffroadingNoob
      @TheOffroadingNoob  7 місяців тому +3

      Hi, I had my RTT on it yes and I used the tents mounting bars and added a hole here or there but it worked well! I did not add anything else. It bent my Gutters because a body shop put it back incorrectly and I did not check.
      but It will hold up. Mine did.

    You have no problem with the roof top tent ontop. You couldn't put rubber bumpstops to take the load off the rain gutter.

      @BunnyTJ Рік тому

      Hi man. I didnt have any issues, honestly after i had the roof painted I think they put it back wrong. But bumpstops could also have worked .

    I think if you had added at least 2 more brackets on the rain gutters you wouldn’t have the cracks on the fiberglass. It would probably double the straight on the weight stress support points. On the top, you could definitely add couple metal bars going across where you had your feet. It would give you structural support, or even a metal grid from corner to corner.

    • @TheOffroadingNoob
      @TheOffroadingNoob  2 роки тому

      Hi man. Yeah, I think that would have helped, however, I think the damage actually happened when I had my hard top painted and the body shop put it back wrong. But adding more supports would have definitely made it better, they would have to be custom made though.
      Thanks for the watch.

    Great video. This roof rack looks amazing!!! I have a question. You mention that must of the weight is carried by the top of the Jeep. The plates on the bottom since they are bolted on the bottom they are not supposed to been caring the weigh by the frame where they are bolted in? Thanks I’m looking to buy it.

    • @TheOffroadingNoob
      @TheOffroadingNoob  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. Most of the weight was carried by the Tub of the the jeep so the metal Jeep body. Oy a small part was on the Jeeps roof. I think it was a really nice rack. If you do buy it just check your mounts on the roof rain gutters frequently.

    Hey thanks for the video, quick question, would it be possible to still remove the hard top while the roof rack on ? Or i have disassemble the rack and then remove the hard top ?

    • @TheOffroadingNoob
      @TheOffroadingNoob  Рік тому

      Hi, I dont think so as the roof rack does leen on the roof rails of the hard top, but I am sure you might be able to make a plan if you really wanted.

    How did you get the rear of the rack off the jeep top I just installed myne and the rear ladder on both sides sits on the hardtop of my jeep

      Hi, I have made a video on how I installed it as well. But I actually put the sides on first if I remember it right. but I would say loosen the steps and put it on the top with an extra set of hands.

    Hi!
    I saw your video and I'm going to buy the South African's one.
    How about the noise travelling? I had 2 roof bars but It was a mess travelling over 60km/h...
    Thank you and good review!

      Hi man. The wind noise wasnt too bad too be honest I think most noise is basically behind the driver so you don't hear it at all. Im actually looking for some cross bars now just to hold my awning.

      Hi, I think it will work, strapping it down will just be a thing, and your height will be significantly higher.
      Just check if you are OK with that.

      Hi man. I drilled some holes through my rack to mount the tent to and the rest I strapped to the front of the rack with some ratchets. But I think you could make anything fit.

      I installed on my JL 2dr Rubicon. It's nice. I like it. I got my awning and RTT all installed on the rack. Looks great. Only thing I dislike is the squeaking noise. I am tempted to unscrew all the joints and add rubber pads before putting all the joints back. lol
