With version 17, could you also use the Smart Mask tool in the Color page to create the roto? Then do the final composite back in the timeline? I’m still on my version 16 and I’m not sure how accurate the smart mask tool is. Great tutorial... keep it up!
@@ThatModernDude right on. Thanks for the quick reply. Your content is incredibly helpful and I appreciate what you do. Have a great evening and I’ll stay tuned for more!
Just saw it. I really like the simplicity and the subtracting polygons tip that you had given. I was just wondering tho if there was a way to convert the brighter parts of the image (the outdoor background basically) into a mask automatically? Because I’m assuming that’s how the filter works on everyone. Do you know how that can be done too?
Yeah it’s using a luma keyer for sure, this will work with luminance values in the scene. I find it not fully reliable though and tried it for this technique. Found this way to be more accurate even if it takes slightly longer
@@MarioDittrichRS The real thing imho is that he's using a "good old way" (hand roto) to reach the goal, which gives you the feeling you'd be more comfortable in PS (where you'd indeed use the quick selection parent to the wand). But as SFX and grading guy, I could find at least 2 other ways to selct her : the new magic mask of Resolve 17 (I don't use it now but it's made for that) and above all the luma keyer since she's surrounded by the same blue sky... Actually there's no real reason to get out of Resolve to fix a thing Resolve's made for (including PS) ;)
I can like the video before watching it for sure!!!
Haha nice!
So smooth
🤙🤙
wow, so modern.
Always

I did look at it, just wanted to do the whole process in fusion!

@@ThatModernDude ahhh i see. Thanks for telling about this technique too though. it came out really well!
NO Link to Pexels. Links go to Artlist and Artgrid. Looks like you made a mistake when typing.
Thanks for that! Fixed it!
I would rather export the still image from resolve to photoshop or affinity photo and do the effect there.
If that’s your jam 🤷♂️
@@ThatModernDude i think it would be easier because of the masking tools in Photoshop
