I live in the same type environment, linseed oil, murphy's oil and also for my homemade knitting needles I use shoe polish that adds a bit of color and wax that does not transfer to the materials used for the piece.

Yep. Linseed oil is my preference for weaving equipment. What is more natural than oil from flaxseed. FYI. Linen is made from flax.
