- Many youtube friends asked me to make a video with my two guitars alternating between rhythm and solo to become possible to listen the diferences in their total caracteristics.
I recorded this video playing "Big Sciota", using a 1999 Taylor 510 and a 2009 Martin D1. Both guitars were loaded with elixir medium gauge strings .13/.56 (both guitars are with those strings sets for more then 4 months and the sound still shine like new!).
The sound was captured with a Zoom H4n as inteface using Reaper software at 48khz 24bits.
I used the awesome Red Bear Pick a C shape model - Extra Heavy.
I recorded an aditional Mandolin track for a better rhythm section.
Hope you enjoy!
I truly believe that the sound of the guitar has a lot to do with the person playing it.In this case they both sound great .Thanks for posting .Chiboou2
Awesome Video and Music!... Both Guitars sound nice!... But then again... it's the player that makes the guitars sound nice!... not the guitars themselves... Have a nice week... Cheers! from Hannah's Dad...
Very nice video and sound! As usual great playing! Congrats and thumbs up!

Hi Mauro, I Have Played Both Taylor & Martin Acoustic Guitars Before, And They Both Are Great & Awesome Sounding Guitars! Both Have Their Own Unique Sound & Tone Characteristics To Them!! I Had A USA Made Martin DCX-1E Dreadnought Before, But Sold It Regretfully!! Now, I'm Getting Me A New Martin Acoustic / Electric - Model # 000CX-1E CST AUD AE Solid Top Natural. ($762.11).

Great guitar, for great guitarist !!!
GREAT !...Martin Forever!....ciao dall'Italia!
Incredible.... muito bom mesmo...
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great picking! The Martin projects more and brings out the trebles sharper -- Taylor more mellow sounding but slightly more sophisticated & complex tone. Both are great and one might be the more logical choice is a one situation -- the other in another.
brilliant
Ya!!
I am sending this to one of my flatpickin friends! He would have to say the Martin is the winner....he is a big bluegrass dude. Wonderful sound on both! T:)
Brilliant Mauro! You get a great recorded sound with your Zoom. How close to the guitar do you place it and where? Any other tips please!
The Martin seems to be heard just a little better on the leads for some reason. Maybe more projection out there? Who knows. Both are excellent sounding guitars.
I'm just here to list'n to the pick'n....
hi, love the playing as always, i am mostly a country electric player but want to start bluegrass, would you say martin is a good brand for bluegrass? i am thinking of buying a hd-28, would u think thats good for bluegrass? thanks
Great performance Mauro. Personally I like the sound of the D1 better, I find it more balanced and crispier. I think Fstpicker is right, the Martin sounds better on the leads.
Considering the Taylor is worth over $2000 and the Martin under $1000, the Martin held it's own against the Taylor. Both guitars sound very good.
D1
Does anyone have Mauro's version in Tab?
I like martin
Oh, and BTW, that wasn't Martin vs. Taylor. That was Martin -AND- Taylor.
That is what those guitars were meant to do... play along side each other, not AGAINST each other.
Pick on brother!
No sigma is a budget company with license from martin. Like Epiphone with Gibson or Squier with fender. Not the same quality like martin. Looks yes, sound no.
taylor is more easy to play
