  • This is a cab view of the Keihin-Tohoku Line and Negishi Line that run through Yokohama City. This video covers the 9.5km section from Isogo Station to Yokohama Station. It's about a 20 minute journey. The route name is complicated, but it is a name left over from the history of the line's construction, and it is actually operated by one train.
It's hard to tell from the cab view alone, but I'll add the characteristics of each station that appears in this video.
Isogo Station and Negishi Station are located in an industrial area centered around oil bases. There is an oil-related factory built all the way to the outside on the right side of the screen.
Yamate Station is located in an upscale or traditional residential area in Yokohama.
Ishikawacho Station is located in a merchant town near Chinatown.
Yokohama Stadium is built on the right side between the next station and Kannai Station. This is the home ground of the Yokohama BayStars professional baseball team. Pitcher Imanaga, who currently plays for the Chicago Cubs, also belonged to this team until last year.
Kannai Station is the heart of Yokohama's business district. In the late 1800s, a settlement for foreigners was established here.
Sakuragicho Station is also the center of the business district. Since it is close to the port, it also serves as a base for sightseeing. Freight trains carrying oil departing from Isogo Station or Negishi Station enter the freight line beyond this station and head in various directions.
Yokohama Station is the central station in Yokohama city. It is the fifth busiest station in Japan. It is used by 2.3 million people a day.
The Keihin Tohoku Line is a commuter line that connects Tokyo, Yokohama, and Saitama. Stations are set up more frequently than on the parallel Tokaido Main Line. The train continues onward, heading to Tokyo Station via Kawasaki Station and Shinagawa Station. And then run further.

To an American accustomed to riding commuter lines dating from the late 19th and early 20th century's, and built through mostly industrial areas (they were mainly freight lines to begin with), it is always a pleasure to watch your videos that mostly show office and residential buildings. They are so much easier on the eye. You really do a great job of producing your work. Thanks. 🎉🎉🎉

When I traveled to America (only once), the thing that impressed me the most was the elevated railroad in Chicago. It was moving to see Wrigley Field slowly approaching. There is no such well-balanced landscape in Japan. I'm jealous of that. Thanks for your comment.

You're welcome. Thank you for your comment. The area between Ishikawacho Station and Sakuragicho Station is in the center of Yokohama and is very lively. Many people come here for a day of leisure. I'm a little disappointed that the cab view doesn't convey that atmosphere. I'm going to try making images in a different way.

What a weekend... almost all of my subscribed railway channels have released a new video - you even have two!
It was a good thing that this trip through Yokohama only lasted around 15 minutes, the other videos of my favorites even lasted two to three and a half hours 🙄
What was interesting for me as a country resident was the many stops in a relatively short time - certainly normal in a big city, some platforms had barriers so that people couldn't fall onto the tracks - and some platforms didn't...
When entering the last station "Yokohama Station" you can see a seemingly abandoned railway line on the left: no tracks to be seen anymore, everything is already very rusty in places...
And of course, a train journey also includes passengers... because the driver's cab of the multiple units is not separated from the passenger compartment, as in all modern trains in Germany, for example, you can sometimes hear the lively fooling around of many school children who were previously seen on the platform ... 😊 That's part of the charm of a train journey 👍
Thank you for this interesting insight and best regards 🖖

I'm happy to be of help to you. ヽ(^o^)丿Early May is the most peaceful season in Japan, and there are three holidays called ``Golden Week'', which are connected to Saturday and Sunday, creating a long holiday period.
There is a possibility that many UA-camrs in Japan are holding back. Considering the situation, I decided to upload the video with a slight delay.
