They should've had a rocket launch a tube that has a squirrel in it and then the squirrel is trained to talk, but then it is all chirping so it hands Tom Cruise a deciphering ear piece that translates it into a message which is of course in Hebrew so only he knows it. Then a pocket knife pops out of the tube and says kill the squirrel in 5 seconds. At which point, the squirrel hears through the translator that its life is in danger and bites Tom Cruise in the nuts. And then flies off the cliff. It turns out the squirrel was a species of flying squirrel from South America due to an ill advised decision. Consequently, a scientist was fired, and the mission changed immediately to track down the squirrel in the movie: Mission Impossible II: Hunt Hunts A Talking, Flying Squirrel
Underrated Top Tier Actor. Tom truly Masters each role/character in every movie which ranges in a multitude of cinematic genres. From his demeanor & poise to stay in character to performing his own life risking stunts, he truly wants to give the viewers/audience his ALL and he always delivers for the true essence of what film making is which is the expression of art through acting and storytelling so the viewers/audiences can be entertained for a short moment of time. I truly have him ahead of Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Keanu Reeves, Edward Norton, and even Jared Leto. (Who are all great actors and have their own accolades) but Tom Cruise just captivates his roles in a more dexterous and compelling way. I only wish he would’ve starred in more movies with Hollywood’s Top tiers of directors such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Terintino, James Cameron, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Christopher Nolan. But regardless, his movie catalog list is still great.
This scene is a real childhood memory! I remember when the movie’s making of and trailer were on heavy rotations on MTV. Tom Cruise had protective gear but the crew really went to the top of a mountain to film this!
I love the first MI one best. But when II came out, that intro scene/ airplane, then the rock climbing. Fantastic! But it's almost like the rest of the movie didn't- couldn't beat that. Incredible soundtrack.
The worst one in my opinion. A "Mission" film should always have a montage of scenes from the film in the opening credits. This had none. The "theme" was also the worst one to date. if you want to update a classic TV show for the big screen then, at the very least, you should retain the things that made the TV show a classic.
My favourite is Ghost Protocol because it felt the most tactical if you get what I mean, it had an incredibly sexy woman on Ethan's team and I can't help but love the skyscraper climb
His mind and intellect is so sharp and on point that even though he knows he has only 5 seconds before the glasses detonate that even after removing them he still has the awareness to realise that he has just enough time remaining to speak a few words before finally throwing them away and having them detonate at just enough of a safe distance for him to not be in danger!
Although I have a lot of issues with this movie, it has some really great scenes here and there, like this. Especially the mask scene at the end of this movie where Ethan switches himself with the other guy is one of my favourite scenes Ever
as i watched this scene on this youtube channel, I could feel the nervousness from the tingling in my legs. it is a well filmed scene, that is for sure.
Nearly 29 and I grew up watching this film not only is it the most stand out mission impossible film for me and one of the most stand out Tom Cruises movies. How it is the worst rated is beyond me. The music, the action. Badass!
So much music makes me feel like i am Ethan Hunt in this scene! i like to put my headphones in and close my eyes and pretend i am Ethan climbing that mountain while the songs play on my ipod. and its feels good. i dont know what makes me feel this way but my god does it feel good! thank you Tom Cruise and John Woo for giving me this feeling i am forever greatful for this scene its the best thing i have ever seen in my life 2:50 when that guitar kicks in i swear it makes me feel a pump! i also seen another comment saying Ethan's "vacations" may be more dangerous than his actual work... and i laughed out so loud i almost dropped my phone hahaha thank you commenter and also thank you Valarian for uploading this great video thanks a lot x
Wish i could look that good climbing......cool looking hair....theme song.....cooley staring off into space when i am in a particularly dangerous position with a dramatic close up....and than jauntly bounding up the top with the wind at my back looking all cool and stuff as if i knew people were watching me....yup
The famous rock climbing sequence was filmed at Dead Horse Point in Utah. Tom Cruise was on cables which were then digitally removed. Ron Kauk was the climbing double and the overhang stunt was performed by main stunt double Keith Campbell. Director John Woo was so scared each time but "Tom insisted on doing it"
I still remember when I first saw this scene, I already had a bit of understanding of what cgi was. But I still turned my head to others to confirm saying “this is fake, right” “they are kidding, right” “why doesn’t he care much when he is about to die?”
I remember seeing this movie at Kodak theatre because a Kodak camera and card was in the movie (during Kodak's decline, probably their last efforts to push their tech, which was not keeping up with digital) so my Dad got to see the film and brought us kids. This movie had a hold on me for a while, loved much of the music in it and got the soundtrack. Brings back memories!
I was in my college days when I saw this movie....Tom Cruise does all his stunt by his own..this reflects the own confidence n beleive that he has..he is one of my favourite actor in Hollywood..

I love that beta. Downward dyno, fall and slide into the crimp, campus resting, v0 finisher.
Oracio I know right! It looks like an epic Lead climb.
lead climb? no ropes no chute barely a chalk bag and no partner...this should have a "don't try this at home" stamped on it
LOL
1:50 that's called inverted crucifix right? Does anyone knoww a video that show this technique applied on real life? Even In a gym or something...
Biffi It’s called a reverse iron cross
Tom cruise's performance is so impressive !!! Not only he is a good actor, but he is also a professional climber ! And what about the cameraman.. climbing with a 10kg camera...
The cameraman is not climbing lmao. He's on a helicopter most probably

Cruise is a legend. He brings a unique perspective to any action hero or agent. The American James Bond.

Consequently, a scientist was fired, and the mission changed immediately to track down the squirrel in the movie: Mission Impossible II: Hunt Hunts A Talking, Flying Squirrel
drchen054 OMFG
This is the greatest thing I've ever read.
And he has to team up with Agent Bullwinkle.
So random but funny.
What did I read?
The credits scene, just wow, and if I climbed them rocks I'd be terrified. The theme song for this is amazing.
I watched this movie in single theater for 7 times ♥️
Who said he is underrated??😂
He is not underrated AT ALL. By any means.
He is very rated
You can say truly overrated.
Many people consider him the biggest movie star in the world. He's not underrated by any means. Underrated is someone like Ryan Gosling
This scene is a real childhood memory! I remember when the movie’s making of and trailer were on heavy rotations on MTV. Tom Cruise had protective gear but the crew really went to the top of a mountain to film this!
TC proved that you don't need long legs to be a superstar.
I can't stop watching this video clip. Very stunning....
Besides being my favorite Mission movie it had a bad ass soundtrack
I love the first MI one best. But when II came out, that intro scene/ airplane, then the rock climbing. Fantastic! But it's almost like the rest of the movie didn't- couldn't beat that. Incredible soundtrack.
The worst one in my opinion. A "Mission" film should always have a montage of scenes from the film in the opening credits. This had none. The "theme" was also the worst one to date. if you want to update a classic TV show for the big screen then, at the very least, you should retain the things that made the TV show a classic.
Steve Starrs your opinion ain't worth shit!
My favourite is Ghost Protocol because it felt the most tactical if you get what I mean, it had an incredibly sexy woman on Ethan's team and I can't help but love the skyscraper climb
Como se llama la cancion en español?
These are one of those intros where you learn about the character ten fold without a single word spoken
It's a movie, they aren't blowing up in his face and killing him then it ends
@@chadrat39 Irrelevant! If you're wearing a pair of exploding glasses and you don't get them off soon then they WILL explode in your face...
@@chadrat39 that would be hilarious
Badass cinematography! Holy shit, this would be the best Mission Impossible movie by far if it just had a decent plot...
I liked the plot and unlike the 1st movie I understood it
@@crashfan9997, I honestly understood the plot of the 1st much easier than the 2nd, probably because the plot of the 1st was more interesting
Got to be one of the best and most memorable starts to any film. Amazing.
one of the best introduction for a hero
Although I have a lot of issues with this movie, it has some really great scenes here and there, like this. Especially the mask scene at the end of this movie where Ethan switches himself with the other guy is one of my favourite scenes Ever
This scene gives me chills and sweaty palms every time. Props to John Woo and Tom Cruise
On a short list of the most realistic scenes in Hollywood history.
"i will let u know where i m going but it won't be a holiday" gotta love that line
The great Alex Hanold critiqued this scene and said it was pretty legit. He said it was way over the top, but the climbing technique was very good.
This scene has its own seperate fanbase !!
the rush of adrenaline spikes in me, just by watching this scene !!!!!!!!
as i watched this scene on this youtube channel, I could feel the nervousness from the tingling in my legs. it is a well filmed scene, that is for sure.
Dis is the best intro scene that i have ever seen for a hero.
Mission impossible intro: epic rock clinbing stunt scene
Other movies intro: Starts talking about their boring life story
One of the coolest movie beginnings ever.
Nearly 29 and I grew up watching this film not only is it the most stand out mission impossible film for me and one of the most stand out Tom Cruises movies. How it is the worst rated is beyond me. The music, the action. Badass!
Dang it! Now I have to watch this again now!! 😂 what an incredible opening scene. Tom never ceases to impress. The real deal.
That was amazing bouldering of Tom Cruise. Missing those old days.
Best entrance ever. I loved the rock song inspiration for the theme song.
Ultra legends watching in September 2020
What is the song name?
Ultra Ultra Ultra legends are watching in November 2020
Fantastic opening. The music works perfectly too 👌
I don't know whatever you say about the movies but this is one of the most coolest opening
This intro still gives me goosebumps
As a acrophobic person, it's increases always my heartbeat watching this scene.
The movie should have ended right here.

Can’t wait to see the new Mission Impossible he has coming out
So much music makes me feel like i am Ethan Hunt in this scene! i like to put my headphones in and close my eyes and pretend i am Ethan climbing that mountain while the songs play on my ipod. and its feels good. i dont know what makes me feel this way but my god does it feel good! thank you Tom Cruise and John Woo for giving me this feeling i am forever greatful for this scene its the best thing i have ever seen in my life 2:50 when that guitar kicks in i swear it makes me feel a pump! i also seen another comment saying Ethan's "vacations" may be more dangerous than his actual work... and i laughed out so loud i almost dropped my phone hahaha thank you commenter and also thank you Valarian for uploading this great video thanks a lot x
I remember watching this when I was barely 7 years old and I thought to my self this has to be the greatest moment in movie history
Wish i could look that good climbing......cool looking hair....theme song.....cooley staring off into space when i am in a particularly dangerous position with a dramatic close up....and than jauntly bounding up the top with the wind at my back looking all cool and stuff as if i knew people were watching me....yup
Lol same
Holla Playa Videos Lmao.....wonder what we will get for the next one this summer...
7 years later I still wish it....😂
Wow 4 years later
9 years. Where does the time go????
This is even more insane than I remember.
i like the little drum and guitar intro when the projectile lands
I remember going to see this movie in the cinema with my stepbrother when it came out and everybody being terrified when the scene was happening 😂😂
The famous rock climbing sequence was filmed at Dead Horse Point in Utah. Tom Cruise was on cables which were then digitally removed. Ron Kauk was the climbing double and the overhang stunt was performed by main stunt double Keith Campbell. Director John Woo was so scared each time but "Tom insisted on doing it"
What are you saying? He did the whole stunt himself
one of the best movie intro i ve ever seen
That’s gotta be the coolest opening in cinema.
Not the best entry of the series, but this opening scene is totally badass!
Imagine working at a secret service and your only job is to phrase "This message will selfdestruct in X seconds." all day.
I was in my college days when I saw this movie....Tom Cruise does all his stunt by his own..this reflects the own confidence n beleive that he has..he is one of my favourite actor in Hollywood..
IMO this film probably has the best opening 10 minutes of any action movie
One of the best scenes ever made
