I had the great privilege of being acquainted with Mr. Skelton for several years. I can honestly say that he was the same wonderful person off stage as on -- a true gentleman of integrity. I am very proud to have called him a friend and even prouder that he referred to me as his friend.
my family and I watched the Red Skelton Show every week. He's the best. I always got a kick when he laughed at his own jokes. Thanks for putting stuff like this on.
i am a young woman of 61. he has been a hero of mine since about age 8, and has remained so . thank-you ,red and this is an understatement.I don't quite understand how I can love you other than you are so true and honest. God blesses you and i know this.
Comic genius that loved people and loved living life everyday. He will be missed there has never been or will be another Red Skelton. RIP Red, you will be so missed.
Thank you for posting this interview!!!! I loved and admired Red Skelton. Never saw these (3) segments before today. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again!!!! :)
When Red spoke his closing words the pledge of Allegiance I always choked back my tears I am so thankful that I was privileged to meet Red after his performance at PURDUE University I have our picture together . I also have the photo of my father Mike Mcclaskey and other police officers. Warren Kixmiller ,Steffey and Oral Manuel's with Red he autographed for my mother he signed Mary Dear Heart ...... Red Skelton. There will never be anyone as great as Red
I grew up watching his weekly show. I ❤ Red Skelton . He was a man of honor . I fortunately had the privilege of a personal discussion with Red after his performance at PURDUE University. And I have a photo of him with my father Mike Mcclaskey and other police officers Red Skelton brought us happy times each week on his TV program. I also had the opportunity to meet Reds second wife Lothian when she came to Vincennes to sell his paintings and collectibles. Loved to hear his closing words Goodnight and God bless
His laugh and giggle was so infectious. He seemed like somebody who was truly happy. He must've appreciated everything he had, and didn't dwell on the things he didn't have. He must've been one cool grandpa.
🥀Beautiful Interview with Red Skeleton I grew up listening to & watching him on TV growing up he was such an amazing Man that kept his heart intwined into everything he believed in. I remember my Mama started crying while we were watching his show I didn't understand why that particular night he was on stage doing a show and his Son had died I don't know if it was the same day but it broke my heart and I admire him for that and every thing he stood for. He was magic to me. I loved him from a baby on up never missed a show I don't think but his audience was always laughing & so was my Family. 🥀🥀RIP Red Skeleton We Love You🥀☝️🥀🕊
Wow, he was such an incredibly gifted man. Symphonies, short stories, screen plays, painting, music......God knew what he,was doing by creating this man.
Mr. Vince, Thank you for posting this wonderful interview. A couple of years back I ask if you would send me the interviews. you did I enjoy them to this day, Love doing his comedy. He was my childhood hero. Met him twice. what a gentleman.Again thank you for posting. J. B.
I Remember RED From Child Hood. Every Sunday At 8 P"M My Mom & Dad Would Make Sure We Children Had Our Laugh, & We Did. So RED You Have Left Us But Your Laugh Can Still Be Heard. Good Night & God Bless.
Thank heaven for recorded media, like time travel to indelible values and national treasures. Mr. Skelton, as a comedian is so much more than a series of punch lines, as he said: "addicted to getting the laugh" Time did not darken his heart. Humility, intellect, kindness and comedic self deprecation. Classic.
@@ruthmartindale3697 I think Red Skelton is loved by everyone everywhere! Be nice though being from his home town, I imagine he is even a bigger and more special person for anyone from his home town and I imagine I'd have a certain sense of special pride were he from my home town! Its funny, how us humans make these connections but it's the way it is and I couldn't imagine a better man to base any sense of pride or perceived connection to!
The last part is the best, where he talks about how TV can't afford entertainment, and goes with reality instead. He was right, but he could not have foreseen how low TV would go to save a buck.
I don't mind it once in a while, though it's amazing early tv entertainers could work for 50 years without cussing once, but when it becomes every other word (Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, etc.) I prefer to skip it.
Someone once said that cuss words are used by the least educated. Their vocabulary skills are slim. I suppose now that would include the audience having a small vocabulary.
In late September, I stopped in Vincennes, Ind & visted the new Red Skelton museum that opened in July. They were still working on it, but what I saw was a great tribute to him. It is worth the stop if you get close to that area.
Such a Great iconic Comedian and a decent human being.Watched him as a young child loved when he played his most memorable role as a hobo and when he did. His Christmas shows. Miss you Mr.Skelton.
I wonder if it has ever been acknowledged that Red Skelton predicted what television would become. He was dead on for the time frame he mentioned. However doubt he could have ever imagined the age of the lowly 'reality' TV on cable programming. RS was such a wonderful human being in every sense of the words.
Thankyou for this. I posted the original pledge not too long ago. I won't duplicate. No sense in casting Pearl's to swine. Too many haters out there. I met him backstage in '79. A genious.
i remember years ago in the early 90s i saw a program of him on G.P.T.V and i found him very funny. then i found some VHS at the library of him an i barrowed them an watched em at home. today i have a small stack of vhs an dvds of him and i tell u no matter how many times ive seen every single 1 of those films of his movies an show i still laugh just as hard the 1st time i seen it.
These artists from past generations were ethical, believed in doing an honest day's work and getting payed for it, and did their homework, so their craft was genuine and had quality. This is why programs from yesteryear were good. Today's stuff is shallow because they take the easy road, and people don't know anything because they get up too late to know anything new that is happening in the world. They just believe what is spoon fed to them, and use that to get the quick and easy buck.
Right Red! That was the day of Red Skelton and Walter Cronkite. Respected, honorable and honest. Those days are gone. Sadly. Now we’re left with profanity, prevarication and fabrication to satisfy the hungry mind when truth is all we truly desire.
I love Red, but you are mistaken, he was known for how filthy his rehearsals were at CBS, the whole network would show up for those Friday rehearsals....now "may God Bless".
Big fan of Skelton, but I disagree with him on 2 points. The first one is about the Pledge. He used emotional manipulation in getting his message across. Lots of people still think he was telling the truth about "Mr. Lasswell", but it just shows how manipulative and self-serving Republicans can be when being "patriotic." The second point was about the newer comedians. Skelton indicates that he thinks people shouldn't hear 4 letter words, but in a free society [the same society where you don't have to hear the Pledge] should be able to determine what they want to see and hear.
Earned respect and love without one swear word or gesture. And made people laugh and in reruns still makes them laugh. No one like him today.
I had the great privilege of being acquainted with Mr. Skelton for several years. I can honestly say that he was the same wonderful person off stage as on -- a true gentleman of integrity. I am very proud to have called him a friend and even prouder that he referred to me as his friend.

Skelton once said that he always laughs at his own jokes because he doesn't want the be the only one who didn't get it.
I'm watching the Red Skelton show right now on RFD TV.
Its unfortunate that recent generations did not grow up with him like I did. A rare soul.

One of the greatest comedians.

These interviews just bring more to light what a wonderful person he was, and an inspiration to all
As a boy, I would never miss the Red Skelton show, first on CBS and later on NBC. This rare interview just makes me love and miss Him even more.
a man with the highest of integrity...loved him for years. Please see his Pledge of Allegiance on youtube.
I have the 45 & even now when I play it I choke up.
Very Good!!

i used to see his tv show as a little kid
i had no idea he was so brilliant
Yep, Me too. An amazing man.
Wow, he was such an incredibly gifted man. Symphonies, short stories, screen plays, painting, music......God knew what he,was doing by creating this man.
He's a great guy. I have a lot of respect for Red Skelton; he's one of my favorite comedians, and this video only increased that amount of respect.
what a great comedian. can't find anyone like him nor will ever be

Apologies to Tarn Sand - I didn't see your comment.
Great minds think alike.
sorry that wringling brothers closed. loved red... thank you for sharing.
Very Rare and Great !!
he is so adorable and such a wise man
You are still The Best Comedian!
I agree strongly with Mr Skelton 's last statement !! I think it is in poor taste that a comedian thinks he must use 4 letter words to entertain.
I don't mind it once in a while, though it's amazing early tv entertainers could work for 50 years without cussing once, but when it becomes every other word (Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, etc.) I prefer to skip it.
K. Angeleyes
I absolutely agree. And it is not just once or twice. It's in every sentence.
K. Angeleyes it doesn’t fucking matter. Funny is funny.
Someone once said that cuss words are used by the least educated. Their vocabulary skills are slim. I suppose now that would include the audience having a small vocabulary.
Wow! He predicts the future of television as being mostly "sports, news, and special events". Actually pretty accurate with a few exceptions.
In late September, I stopped in Vincennes, Ind & visted the new
Red Skelton museum that opened in July. They were still working

Rest in peace beautiful 😇 ❤ very much loved missed but not forgotten ⚘ ❤ 💔 🙏💖💖⚘😇

He did more in a day than most people do in a year.
What a sincerely nice guy!!!
Don’t you just love his laugh!

He was a great entertainer and superb in the art of pantomime.

A Renaissance man who was severely underappreciated.
True that all day long. Yahoo God Bless.
This world became a colder and less decent place when Red Skelton passed.
Love you Red !

TO VINCE DUCKER: WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS INTERVIEW WITH MR. SKELTON?
He's my cousin no joke like my 3rd or 4th cousin he is related to my grandma
Preamble of Constitution by Red Skelton
He was a real Class Act
Still an inspiration to me.
His last statement on this video sums it up PEOPLE! THAT'S WHO HE WAS!
No one else has the SACK TO DO IT AGAIN!
He is absolutely correct about procrastination being the worst thing in the world.
Wow!

I am so glad he is not here to see what this country has become. This place in NO way resembles the country we had back in the 50s & 60s.
OK, OK... I won't duplicate it.
Only if he was alive today and can tell congress and media off.
He is dearly missed! ♥️🤡♥️🤡♥️
My favorite clown at my favorite college!
