VERY helpful !! I bought one of these long ago and stored it on a shelf where it's been sitting for years. I found it today and didn't even remember how to take it apart much less brew an espresso. Now, thanks to you, I'm going to put it to use again!
Hi Lauren, took your advise and purchased Wacaco. Went for the capsule version as we thought it would suit us best. Arrived in regional Vic. In two days. Great service. In a word we love it. Thanks.
I suggest microwaving the milk in a cup first, then squeeze coffee into this cup from the machine.. Microwave the milk to whatever heat level you want -- I like it fairly hot, like 70 C.
Yeah, that is what Lauren meant to say. Sometimes what our mind wants to say is different to what our mouths deliver when we are covering all the details in these videos. ;) ~ Ben
Not that much different than a shot from a cafe, Matt, we just need a machine this small that will stretch the milk for us and we can have proper coffee anywhere. ~ Ben
Not with the GR machine, that's only for ground (GR) coffee. Is you want to use the Nespresso capsules you need to either get the capsule adapter for the GR machine or just get the Nespresso (NP) version. ~ Ben
how do you switch the metal parts? I used to work as a barista and the big machines needed regulary get their portafilters changed. Can that be done on these pocker sized machines?
Unlike commercial machines which pump through hundreds of shots of coffee a day, this one is just a little portable machine which would be lucky to do a couple of coffees a day - if you're using it daily. Just like your at home bench top coffee machines, they dont need changing. ~ Lauren
Do I need to use hot water for expression shots to work or can I use cold water? I would like to make ice americano at work with this thing.. I like expresso shots with almond milk and stivia
@@SnowysOutdoors I know that bit my question was if I could use just cold water if I don't have access to boiling water, or expresso shots only work with hot water??
@@futbol1972 generally coffee grounds require boiling water to actually release the oils and flavour from the grounds. The only option Im aware of the doesnt need boiling water is the "cold drip" method which takes a few hours and uses a different coffee system. ~ Lauren
I wouldn't recommend using milk, Wolfheart, it's going to make it hard to keep your Wacaco machine clean, and I'm not convinced it will extract coffee in the same manner anyway.. ~ Ben
You can't carry hot water in the Wacaco, CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures, you're best taking a flask with hot water in it and adding water at the point of making your coffee. ~ Ben

Both are good. The deciding factor for me buying an Aeropress is that Wacaco machines produce a shot of coffee and you need to heat up milk and water to make a good coffee. The Aeropress can be made more like a long black with a dash of milk, so I'm only concerned about boiling water when camping. ~ Ben

having tasted the rather simplistic and bland coffee that comes out of one of these, I'd rather just pack a dozen pre-mix cappuccino sachets that have the coffee, powdered milk and sweetener in my bag...
I'm a self-confessed coffee snob, Funketon, and I've found the coffee from these to be great. That being said, if you use average beans, you'll get average coffee. The Wacaco machines create coffee in much the same way as a machine in a café does, just on a much smaller scale. I bought it for my husband. Let’s see if he will like to pump the coffee??? Will follow up
